As for his wish, he’s unsure. Perhaps he’ll use it to improve his homunculi. Command Seal: A Circle containing a Diamond, with waved lines running through the centre. History: A man who spent his young life in the care of various homunculi, neglected by his father both as a son and as an heir. As a result, he became attached, and struggled to tell the difference between homunculi and humans. Even though they lacked free will of their own, the care they gave to him was unquestionably real. The careless discarding of his ‘mother’ left a wedge between him and his father that defined their relationship. After attending the Clocktower to study, he left the family, feeling unable to commit to his father’s path. He wandered through various countries, spending a lot of time in hospitals, among the dying. He considers these his rebellious years. Though he never truly forgave his father, travelling the world allowed him to see his own inadequacy. He realised just how much more he had to learn, and the best place to learn it. Running away from his responsibilities wouldn’t help him, or his family, improve. For the most part, he drew back from Clocktower politics, retreating into his work. He married for love rather than for the sake of his family, one of the few concessions he made in this balance. Determined not to repeat his family’s mistakes, he raised and educated his daughter with even more vigour than he put into his studies. He considers her the perfect heir, but moreover, the perfect daughter. Personality: An old man ready for an early retirement. He’s somewhat ashamed of handing the reins to his successor earlier than necessary, but his daughter is absolutely more suited to the life of a Magus than him. He has no regrets regarding his path, but rather is simply tired of the cycle of creating life only to see it die. The kind of man more suited to being a doctor than a magus. Though certainly, the Bampheloulus family has always suffered with these two conflicting drives, it is a stronger contradiction in Theta’s nature. A person who is, under normal circumstances, quiet and reserved, but fundamentally helpful. Ultimately, though, he’s able to suppress his gentler nature in order to do what is necessary. He’s reluctant to fight, but has absolutely no squeamishness around blood or viscera. Magic Circuit Switch: The feeling of a piercing needle in his forearms. Number of Circuits: C Quality of Circuits: B Origin: Wholeness Element: Wind Attribute: Flow and Transfer Crest: His Crest has already been transferred to his daughter. Magecraft: General Magecraft You know. General magecraft. Alchemy (Body) Alchemy limited to manipulation of the body, based in the theory of the four humours. Utilised to balance the elemental humours within the body to ensure a robust and healthy body. This also includes the mind and personality. A technique of balancing the body to a state of health utilising the medium of a humour - often blood, which can contain each of the elements, though primarily is associated with wind, the element of flow. A further technique involves utilising the four humours as a substitution for the four stages of the alchemical magnum opus. Introducing each of the humours to the body in order: black bile representing the blackening of nigredo; phlegm representing the whitening or washing of albedo, yellow bile representing the yellowing of xanthosis and finally blood representing the reddening or completion of rubedo. The Bampheloulus family aims to refine this process in order to create a ‘perfect human body’. Naturally, a process that can be used to interfere with the body to heal it can also be used to harm it, to put it out of balance. It is also possible to do this over a long distance, using blood as a sympathetic medium. This form of alchemy is also excellently suited for the creation of homunculi. Homunculus Creation Utilising alchemy of the four humours to create homunculi. Taking the four humours (elements) and transmuting them to create a whole body. Furthermore, it is possible to draw on the associated goddess of each humour to enhance the existence and purpose of the created bodies. Naturally, this results in defects both in mind and in body related to the single humour that is prioritised to draw on this association. Astrology A useful tool in both alchemy and medicine related to the humours. Each humour is connected to several zodiac signs, and in turn, the celestial bodies. Indeed, Astrology can be considered the “eye of the physician”. A tool of diagnosis that can be used to divine a patient’s symptoms and problems based on cycles of the stars and seasons. Mystic Codes: Staff: A simple mystic code utilised as a point of transference for humours without their direct or sympathetic use being necessary. Essentially, a tool of combat used to quickly unbalance an opponent’s humouric balance without the necessity for a diagnosis or a multiple-count spell. Naturally, physical contact and a supply of magical energy are required. Plague Doctor Outfit: An outfit designed to create a barrier between oneself and the outside world. In particular, the air itself, which was believed to carry disease. Things ‘carried by the air’ are unable to penetrate the suit, making it an ideal counter to many environmental hazards, though it is of little use against direct attacks. Specialised Homunculi(Exceptional Benefit): Diana (Phlegmatic Water) A specialised combat homunculus aligned with phlegm, water, and the goddess Artemis. Naturally, a user of ranged combat with bow and arrow. Drawing on the concept of Artemis’ arrows as a tool of incurring disease, it is possible to utilise her own abundance of phlegm to coat these arrows with a substance that imbalances the targets’ humours by overloading them with phlegm. Using astrology and Artemis’ connection to the moon, it is also possible to take on a limited viewpoint of the gods, for the purpose of hunting opponents. Defects born of an imbalance towards phlegm include continuous chest and breathing problems along with a general slow-wittedness and forgetfulness. Minerva (Choleric Fire) A specialised combat homunculus aligned with yellow bile, fire, and the goddess Athena. Unlike Diana, she’s specialised towards close-combat, using a spear and shield. Rather than infecting the opponent, Minerva uses her own yellow bile, transmuting it directly into fire. In addition, using the concept of Athena’s Aegis, those who glimpse her are met with a pressure. The problems rooted in an overly Choleric nature are frequent fevers and jaundice, along with an easily distractible and angered personality. Ceres (Melancholy Earth) A homunculus aligned with black bile, earth, and the goddess Demeter. Using the connection to the story of Demeter and Persephone, as well as the connection between Black Bile and the Autumn season, one can effectively poison the earth with melancholia. An overuse of black bile has lead to insomnia and difficulty with digestion, as well as severe depression. Venus (Sanguine Wind) A homunculus aligned with blood, air and the goddess Aphrodite. One’s own blood can be transmuted into a ‘bad air’ that transmits an infection of the blood. A disease both based in imbalancing blood and the madness of love associated with Aphrodite. Compared to the other humours, an overabundance of blood causes less problems, though Venus is prone to excessive and frequent bleeding, along with narcolepsy and poor impulse control. Unfortunately, though his intentions are good, he’s something of a meathead. A person who easily forgets commitments and fails to correctly assess his surroundings, landing him in far more trouble than necessary. Though, ultimately, he’ll thoughtlessly muscle through anyway. The strong and silent type, one who rarely bothers to engage his enemies in discussion, either with taunts or compliments, even when the fight could be ended simply with communication. He endures suffering without comment, and achieves victory without boasting. He’s also the type to quietly leave without saying goodbye regardless of the circumstances. Someone who will approach others with warmth regardless of their situation or social standing, though it’s more that he’s bad at reading the atmosphere. He has a soft spot for women. The knight he got along best with was his good friend Gawain, though he two ended up fighting at various points due to misunderstandings born of their mutual meatheadedness. Interestingly, Ywain is the only one who enjoys his friend's cooking. Though he was a knight of Camelot, he has little consideration for the authority of the king, simply using his position to fight evil and save the innocent. Despite being a knight almost on par with the greatest of Arthur’s round table, he wasn’t around enough to influence the course of the civil war, shifting his responsibilities. Someone who will happily serve as another’s protector, though listening and following orders is another matter. Of course, he will turn his sword against an unjust master. His wish for the grail is simply to accomplish more as a great hero.

A knight of the round table known for his friendship with Gawain. After a cousin told of his shared news of his humiliation at the hands of an enemy knight guarding a wondrous fountain, Ywain rushed ahead of the knights’ expedition to challenge the man first. He ended up crushing the knight, pursuing him to his home as the man fled on horseback. He was saved from the anger of the knight’s men by being gifted a magical ring of invisibility; while invisible, he glimpsed the lady of the manor and immediately fell in love. Ultimately, he took up the responsibility of the fountain’s guardian knight, at the same time marrying the man’s widow. Sometime after, a number of knights of the round table came to investigate the fountain. Though it could have easily been resolved with conversation, Ywain instead fought them, using the fountain’s powers to defeat all but Gawain and Arthur. After fighting Gawain for a full day, the two eventually reconciled, and Gawain convinced Ywain to return to Camelot for a time despite his wife’s misgivings. Ywain spent too long in Camelot, staying past his wife’s requested return date. When he realised this, he went insane and ran off to live in the woods for a while. While returning to sanity, he rescued a lion from its fight with a dragon - well, he intended to simply fight them both, but the lion was so grateful for being saved that it pledged itself to his service. Travelling with the lion, he engaged in various adventures, slaying giants, half-demons, and various knights. He even ended up fighting with Gawain once more, this time for even longer - though the two simply failed to recognise each other, and stopped fighting as soon as Ywain spoke to compliment Gawain’s strength, leading them to realise each other’s identities. Eventually, his adventures lead to a reconciliation with his wife, and a return to his duties guarding over the fountain.
Parameters STR: A ||| END: A ||| AGI: B ||| MAN: C ||| LCK: B Class Skills Magic Resistance: B Grants protection from magical effects, cancelling spells entirely rather than simply resisting their effects. Spells with a chant below three verses are cancelled, and it becomes difficult to be affected by High Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals. Riding: C An ability denoting the ability to ride various creatures and vehicles. Most vehicles and animals can be handled with above-average skill, though Phantasmal Species cannot be ridden. Ywain’s low rank despite his class is likely due to the various unfortunate fates of his horses as they were ridden into danger. He can fight on horseback and ride with some skill, but isn’t particularly good at ensuring they survive. Personal Skills Bravery: B The ability to negate mental interference effects such as pressure, confusion or fascination, with the bonus effect of increasing melee damage. Charging in to battle with dragons, giants and demon halfbreeds without the slightest hesitation, Ywain is unquestionably a slayer of monsters, primarily using skill of arms alone. Guardian Knight: B A skill that grants a bonus to defensive power when acting in defence of others. It is only a moderate boost in defensive power, but one that can be kept up for a greater amount of time. Ywain not only protected various people from monsters as he adventured, but also dedicated himself to the protection of Laudine’s fountain for three years, defeating many of Arthur’s knights as he acted in this capacity. Battle Continuation: C A skill allowing for the continuation of battle despite grevious wounds. A skill representing the mentality of one who simply doesn’t know when to give up. Deriving from Ywain’s battle with Gawain lasting multiple days, continuing to battle even as he continued to suffer injuries from his rival knight’s skilled blows.
Lunette and Laudine Rings of Love’s Protection Rank: C+ Type: Anti-Unit (Self) Range: 0-1 Targets: 1 Two magical rings, granted by the two most important women in Ywain’s life. Lunette granted him a ring of invisibility to hide from those searching for him, and Laudine, his wife, gifted him a ring to assist him in his defence of the fountain. These have been combined into one due to their similar nature, both based in their affections for Ywain as a selfless knight and protector, and the love he felt towards them both, especially his wife. The first ring creates a shell around the user, through which nothing can be perceived by any sense, though perception outwards on Ywain’s part is entirely possible. If the user remains still, there is absolutely no chance of detection, even upon physical interaction with the ring’s shell. One’s magical energy is hidden too while stationary, equivalent to a low-ranked Presence Concealment. Moving while invisible creates a distortion in the air that can be tracked, though it still serves the function of hiding Ywain’s armour and identity as it is the exterior, not the interior that is glimpsed. Similarly, magical energy is not hidden while in motion. The second ring similarly creates a barrier around the user, this time one of steel, the ring itself serving as a Noble Phantasm with the purpose of protection. A C-rank barrier that rejects all attempts at harming the user, though it will be destroyed after taking enough damage, regenerating over time depending on the supply of magical energy. These two shells become alternate forms that can be switched between by simply twisting the ring; if the stone faces in towards Ywain’s palm, he gains Lunette’s blessing, while wearing it facing outwards will grant Laudine’s. Invoking the true name of the Noble Phantasm allows both rings to be used at once, combining the enchantment of the rings; concealment and protection working together to displace one from the time axis to avoid an attack entirely. A temporary protection based on absolute avoidance, concealing one completely, so that even guarding against attacks originating from a higher order dimension is possible. A powerful enchantment that leaves one significantly drained of mana, but will protect from almost any attack. One can consider it the ultimate expression of love towards Ywain, protecting him as absolutely as he protected others. Rampant Arms Leo A Beast’s Promised Reward Rank: B Type: Anti-Unit (Self) Range: 1 Targets: 1 A Noble Phantasm representing Ywain’s bond with a Phantasmal Beast that Ywain rescued from its battle with a dragon. A beast strong enough that it was able to hold off a being as powerful as a dragon with no serious injuries, though not powerful enough to defeat it by itself. A Beast with intelligence enough to recognise true hostility and killing intent, and the ability to grasp the use of human tools - for example, gripping a sword in his mouth, though fighting with claws is more practical. Not a traditional mount, the beast fights alongside Ywain as a friend. The two have a strong bond of trust after various fights together, and are generally able to pick up on each other’s intent in a fight without much effort. It never occured to Ywain to name it, since animals don’t have names anyway. At least, that’s how Ywain’s simplistic thinking saw it. Rather than simply the ability to summon this Phantasmal Beast, the Noble Phantasm is ‘the certainty that if Ywain is in danger, the lion will appear.’ The two’s fates are intertwined and the lion will always protect his saviour, no matter the difficulty, so long as Ywain passes a luck check.
