Command Seal: A paintbrush with a splatter of paint. The splatter will disappear first, then the head, and finally the shaft. Personality: Hemlock gives off the impression that he would probably still be totally committed to painting even if it had absolutely nothing to do with his magecraft. Since first-hand observation is the best for painting, he doesn't mind venturing out of his workshop at all. Indeed, he generally lacks pride and has no problem stooping down into the dirt or grovelling. The only exception is his painting. The mention of art completely washes away the detached and calm persona, giving way to the emotions he bottles up inside. A conversation with a lover of art can turn him into a charming guy with a bright smile, but someone who insults his work will suddenly be face-to-face with a violent and vindictive artist. Bio: The Reguim family is based in the English countryside, within arm's reach of the Clock Tower. They've always been open to co-operation with the Association, but there was little reason to, especially as they began to stagnate a bit. The goal of their art is to "paint the root" and the use that painting as a means to reach it. Hemlock spent lots of his childhood outside and often travelled to different exotic places in order to paint them. His family was fairly mellow since they spent all their time painting, so he was allowed to make non-mage friends and hang out with them in his spare time. Even so, Hemlock could tell that his relatives had started to despair about ever advancing their craft, and as a skilled young heir, the pressure was on him. Leaving behind his social life was his own choice, rather than something forced on him, but in the end, he became just another anti-social mage looking for easy solutions to fulfill ancient pride. --- Magic Circuit Switch: Imagining a black canvas. Number of Magic Circuits: B Quality of Magic Circuits: B --- Elemental Affinity: Earth and Water Magecraft: In addition to basic magecraft, Hemlock is highly proficient with his family's traditional style, which uses paintings. The focuses of this are essentially "bounded fields" and "curses" that make use of paintings to boost their effectiveness. A painting can be used as the centrepiece of a boundary, tuning its purpose to a function related to the painting. A painting of a sturdy house or castle would make for a protective field, and so on. In regards to curses, it's a matter of painting a representation of a target, and then making alterations to the painting to mirror the effects onto a target, similar to a "voodoo doll". In both cases, a painting made from immediate observation instead of imagination or memory will be more effective, and one that contains materials from the subject will be even moreso. Crest: 6 Generations
Weapons: Vibrant Arsenal: An artist's palette, to which normal paints can be applied at will. The paint becomes filled with mana and fails to be removed by the standard jostling one experiences during battle. In order to apply it, the specialized brush must be flicked against a dollop of paint, causing the liquid to fly off in a blade-like arc. These are physical attacks that deal damage on contact, with the type of damage corresponding to the colour used as one would expect. Paintings: Stacks of Hemlock's past work, useable with his magecraft. Various pieces such as forests, dark alleys, castles, violent brawls, and stormy seas are present here. Portable Speed-Painting Kit: A small case that unfolds into a stool, canvas, and everything else Hemlock would need in order to sit down and do some painting in dangerous situations. Even if he is seemingly at ease and willing to revel and enjoy good food and drink, that is simply because he is an exceedingly patient man who feels that he will know when the time to fight is upon him. Once sworn to a lord, he will be hard-pressed to betray or abandon them outright, but may go against their wishes for the sake of the greater good. As long as he is not fighting someone evil, Saber's personality from his lively times as a paladin shines through. The Holy Grail War will be a chance to appreciate the skills of other knights, so he will probably try to make friends with them for the sake of enjoying a second life together. He was not a paladin who cast his reason away like Roland or Astolfo, but he was willing to engage in all kinds of misadventures as long as they were not cowardly or wicked. Although he does not blindly chase after it, Saber wants to use the grail so that he may wish for himself and the other eleven paladins to be summoned into the world whenever a worthy evil threatens mankind, moreover he will retrieve what his Master requests as long as they display a wholesome wish. Bio A noble child of Denmark who received the blessings of fairies when he was born. As a result of his father's failure to pay homage to the Holy Emperor Charlemagne, he was taken as a hostage to France. He escaped from his bonds in order to aid in a battle against the Saracens, who were led by giants, and eventually became one of the twelve paladins of Charlemagne alongside the likes of Roland and Oliver. It can be said the Ogier was a hero who was kept patiently imprisoned until the moment he was needed again. After turning on Charlemagne for the murder of his son by the Emperor's son, he was captured again, but set free once more so that he might continue to aid the military. The fairy Morgan la Fey would often abduct him to Avalon to be her lover, but he would always return. It is said that rather than dying, Ogier turned to stone and waits under Kronborg Castle to defend against a great evil. Since he can be summoned as a Heroic Spirit, this is probably not true or refers to something else entirely, but this belief only further feeds his legend as the "Hero of Patience." Parameters Strength: B Endurance: B Agility: B Mana: C Luck: A Class Skills Magic Resistance B: The cancellation of unfriendly magecraft targeting Saber. Any spell with a chant of three of less verses will be nullified, and all other magecraft will be reduced. Riding B: Saber can ride all manner of beasts and vehicles, even those of the modern day, with above average skill. Phantasmal Species cannot be ridden, however. Personal Skills Bravery B: The negation of mental interference such as pressure, confusion and fascination using willpower. Additionally, bonuses are granted when attacking in melee. Saber has fought against Saracens, giants, and paladins, never backing down when he had a goal in mind. Battle Continuation B: The ability to persist in combat even when mortally wounded through a strong will to live. Saber once fought against Bruhier the Saracen, who could completely heal his body with a single drop from a sacred flask. While Saber's injuries mounted, the Saracen restored himself over and over, but despite this the Dane claimed victory and used the flask to save himself afterwards. Knight Tactics B: Saber was a common choice by Charlemagne for a champion in single combat. Thus, he may grasp the flow of battle and induce his opponent to make a mistake, even without being a match for them in strength or technique. Consists of composed observation powers and carefully laid out moves to invite a check failure for the opponent and a momentary chance at victory. Song of Patience A: A hero imprisoned until his skills were needed. A hero resting in Avalon until his aid was needed. A hero sleeping in stone until is strength was needed. Similar to an ability of other paladins, Ogier becomes greater and greater as a battle goes on and he suffers injuries. However, rather than constantly increasing in combat power over the course of a fight, Ogier continually stores up his might during a battle before releasing it in a surge of strength and skill that can surely turn the tides of a drawn-out combat. The longer the fight, the greater this moment of heroism will be. Lasts for approximately 1 minute upon triggering. Noble Phantasms Name: Courtain Title: Sword of Mercy Rank: C+ NP Type: Anti-Unit/Barrier Range: 1~20 Maximum Number of Targets: 200 people Description: Ogier's legendary weapon said to have belonged to the round table's Sir Tristan and have had its point struck off by an angel to prevent an unwarranted killing. In appearance, it is a short sword with a flat tip, only useful for cutting. With a distinct appearance like that, it is usually sheathed, even when in use, to hide Saber's identity. However, cutting is not its true purpose. Rather, it is a sword meant for defending. While Courtain was known merely as a sturdy sword as opposed to an unbreakable one like Durandal, its quality of mercy means the the power to destroy and kill will be stripped away from any blow it meets. Because of this, it can be called a sword that will never break, since any damage will be nullified and consumed. This passive ability can be used against any anti-unit attack, as well as a section of a larger scale attack, only reaching its limit against the true name release of a Noble Phantasm. A release of Courtain's true name allows for this sort of protection to be drawn out from the sword into a manifestation that can cover an area for a time. Rather than a shield, it should be called an area of absolute mercy that will nullify threats up to a certain level of power. Any "harm" in the area will be absorbed, meaning the force of blows will vanish, energy attacks will disperse into harmless light, etc. This effect can block some Noble Phantasms and contain essentially any level of "pure damage" as long as it does not surpass the NP rank of C, at which point some damage will be able to get through. To activate the modifier and reach absolute levels of protection, the fuel generated by Ogier's other sword must be used. Name: Sauvagine Title: Sword of Cruelty Rank: D++ NP Type: Anti-Unit Range: 1~4 Maximum Number of Targets: 1 person Description: Ogier's other sword, the counterpart to Courtain which was made over three years. As the "other half" to the Sword of Mercy, its very meaning is to kill, and this is reflected in its vicious design and jagged tip. Its effect, too, is opposite to Courtain, as with each successful strike the enemy's ability to defend is sapped away. One wound opens the path for many more, and the enemy will find in time that they can scarcely dodge, block, or withstand without the use of a Noble Phantasm. Since it is a weapon meant for duels between knights, where the event of "first blood" is significant and most strikes are deflected, each hit with Sauvagine is worth much more than each attack blocked with Courtain. Against a monster who carelessly takes dozens of scratches, it grants a massive advantage. However, that which is sapped from the opponent will be restored within the hour out of battle. The true name release of Sauvagine is a rather underwhelming thing. It is nothing more than swinging the sword in a way that can even bypass the protection of an enemy Noble Phantasm if a good number of hits have been landed beforehand. That, however, fails to take into account the relationship between the two swords of Ogier the Dane. The "power to kill" absorbed by Courtain can be poured into Sauvagine. The "ability to resist" sapped by Sauvagine can be granted to Courtain. Both function to save up fuel for the other that allows for the activation of plus modifiers without an increase in mana cost. A Sauvagine boosted by attacks against Courtain becomes a pillar of blood-red energy that is difficult for a Noble Phantasm to shield against even if no prior hits have been landed. Moreover, the absorption is still in effect for both swords during their releases, so a full power Courtain release can theoretically absorb a large enough attack to provide for a full power Sauvagine release, which would leave the target struggling to even hold a shield.
