"That was your first mistake."[/sub]

~Name~
Bartholomew Durant.
~Age~
36.
~Gender~
Male.
~Appearance~
A rather distinguished looking individual, even with his somewhat rough and ragged appearance, Bartholomew Durant-Bart to his friend's and family-is a lithe, yet relatively muscular man with amber colored eye's, who stands at an average height of 5'10", and has a slightly below average weight of 197.5 pounds. He has a light dusting of facial hair on his weathered, yet welcoming sun kissed face and a small cropping of dusty coal black hair, which he usually keeps swept back by running his hand through it every once and awhile. As for his clothing, Bartholomew wears an ash grey jacket with golden buttons and a high collar, that ends just above his knees. Beneath this he wears a dark long sleeved shirt, a pair of silk charcoal pants with buttons sewn into the fabric just outside of the ankle area, and a pair of black dress shoes which he has polished on a daily basis. In addition to these item's, Bartholomew also wears a pair of dark leather gloves to hide the burn marks that cover his hands.
~Abilities~
~Major~ Technopathy: Thanks to his gene, Bartholomew has the ability to manipulate and control all forms of technology with electronic or ferrous components built in, with nothing more than a touch. ~Minor~ Adaptive Mind: Thanks to the changes the D3-V0 gene made to his already excellent intelligence, Bartholomew's mind is now able to adapt and handle almost any situation or change with little to no effort. ~Weaknesses~ Should Bartholomew become separated from modern society and stuck in a place without technology, then his technopathy ability will be rendered useless. Bartholomew can only manipulate tech that still functions to some degree. He is not capable of controlling old and worn out tech or tech that has been damaged beyond repair. He is also unable, as stated above, to control metallic objects or machine's that have no electronic or ferrous based components. Bartholomew also finds it difficult, if not downright impossible, to control, hack, or manipulate technology that he doesn't fully understand. Like a particle collider for example. Some highly advanced security system's can slow Bartholomew down, especially if he's never encountered them before, but they won't be able to stop him. While Bartholomew's mind can adapt and keep track of many different thing's, if too many thing's happen at once or in a way that makes absolutely no sense, he will suffer a minor mental overload and be forced temporarily withdraw from analysing the situation.
~Skills & Traits~
~Strong~ *Sociable: Bartholomew is very good around people, easily picking up the subtlist of facial or bodily cues. *Networking/Strategic/Technological Aptitude: Being able to control and manipulate practically all forms of modern technology while also having a highly adaptive and intelligent mind at his disposal, naturally makes Bart very skilled in any field requiring intensive technical, strategic, and coordinative know how. *Public Speaking: Being the sociable person he is, Bartholomew is very good at speaking in public or in front of large crowd's, easily engaging and keeping the interest of his chosen audience. *Sword/Knife Fighting: Bartholomew is very skilled in the use of the sword and knife thanks to the invaluable teachings of Alexandra, the personal tutor his parent's hired to watch over him and the estate the lived on while they were off on business trips in other countries. ~Weak~ *Government/Politics: While he has dabbled in and briefly studied both, Bartholomew still does not know enough about all the various intricacies of politics and government to make much of a difference in either area. *Gunplay/Firearms Use: Although he has had some experience using auto and semiautomatic firearms, Bartholomew never learned much beyond the basics as a child due to his irrational fear of the blasted things. While he did manage to overcome this fear as the years went by, he still prefers to fight with a blade or his power's as it's what he's most comfortable with. If he gets in a fight to begin with, that is. *Economics: Despite his parent's great business acumen, Bartholomew doesn't have very good sense when dealing with money. While he is more than capable of spending and investing wisely, Bartholomew wouldn't be able to navigate the stock market to save his own life. *Short Tempered: Despite his sociable and friendly nature, Bartholomew can be very quick to anger, especially in highly stressful situations. It isn't because he wants to per se, but rather because of the lingering feelings of spite, hate, and grief he still has pent up inside.
~Equipment~
His current outfit and a solid wood cane with a metallic gold serpent embellishment running from one end to the other and a hollow interior that acts as a sheathe for the steel blade connected to the bottom part of the serpents head.
~Biography~
Born in the year 1990 to Lisa and Alain Durant, wealthy British entrepreneur's, land, and business owner's, Bartholomew had a very fast paced childhood. One moment his parent's were there, at their estate in Sussex, and the next they were halfway around the globe attending confrences while Alexandra, his personal tutor and caretaker, looked after him and the manor. At the age of sixteen he accidentally got his hands caught in an open outlet and suffered from severe electrical burns, the scars of which have remained long after the original event. It was also during this time that his power's first manifested. Upon waking up in the local ER, his mind and body felt totally different than they had before. It was as though a switch had been flipped on within him. So, wanting to experiment and test his sanity, Bartholomew reached out to the nearby heartbeat monitor and placed his bandaged hand against its cool, metallic surface. Not knowing what to do exactly, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and tried willing it to shut off. And it did. Stunned by this new revelation, Bartholomew thought about the matter the whole time he was in the ER recovering. Deciding to err on the side of caution, he waited till he got home to tell his parent's. His mother and father, being more tolerant than most regarding the new Deviant crisis that seemed to be sweeping the world, gave their son all the support he could want and encouraged him to try and find out more about his power's. Which is exactly what he did. Over the next couple of month's he practiced day and night on various pieces of technology in their massive home, slowly refining his ability to control tech that got progressively more advanced. Bartholomew also became aware of his heightened mental state during this time and spent the day's he wasn't practising his Technopathy power's training his mind by reading the words of famous poets, reading intellectual discourses, and studying the moves used in chess by the various master's throughout history. Sometime after this, after he had turned twenty, his parents had to embark on yet another business trip, this time to America, and once again left him at their estate. This time however, he was responsible for watching the land as Alexandra had moved on to look for other career opportunities a few months prior. And so he was left at home by himself, back in Britain until his parent's return a few weeks later. All of which only made the news of their death's hurt even more. For while they were in the States, Bartholomew's father and mother both decided to attend the Deviant rights protest in Cleveland. Right as the tragedy the world knows all too well struck the town, leaving Bartholomew to fend for himself. A few months later he recieved his parent's will and signed all the necessary documents. The estate as well as a large sum of money was now his to use however he wished. And use it he did. Being young, foolish, and filled with hate towards the world, Bartholomew spent the next couple of years drinking, partying, and running from authority. All of which ended with him burning his own home to the ground in a drunken fit of rage. Finally realizing his own pitiful condition, Bartholomew took what little funds he had left and the clothes he'd managed to salvage, and left Britain. Moving over to the States, he joined a support group and used his power's to erase all traces of his recent activities overseas, effectively creating a fresh start for himself. Once he finally worked out most of his issue's during his time in the group and gotten his life together, Bartholomew made sure to erase or otherwise alter all digital records of himself that might have been left behind, especially since the world had become a much more dangerous place for Deviants like himself. From there he moved around the country, doing his best to avoid the Peacekeepers where and when he could and making their scanners register his gene as dormant when he could not, never staying in one place for too long. Almost as though stopping would let all the pain and anguish he'd been trying to move past for years come rushing back in like a tidal wave. Eventually he found himself in New York. Making his way into the city, he went to the one place no one would think to look for him... A Peacekeeper Compound. It was there that he came across a member of the D.R.M who offered him a position in their resistance movement. Finally seeing a purpose with which he could ally himself, even if he didn't fully believe in it's longevity or viability, he accepted the freedom fighters offer.
~Other~
He enjoys smoking Arturo Fuente Opus X cigars and drinking glasses of Mar Rohk Firebrand Whiskey-a unique, expensive, and unfortunately short lived line of spirits that was originally produced in the 1950s and was sold until early 2001-when he can get a hold of them anyway.
