With a sweet smile and a pretty face, she often makes a good first impression on people. Her kind, soft-spoken demeanor gives her a sort of trustworthy air; while this trust wouldn't necessarily be misplaced, Aria herself is rather secretive. She prefers to listen rather than speak, and tends to keep her thoughts to herself. However, Aria will speak her mind if she feels it's necessary, and certainly isn't one to be pushed around. Still, she very clearly cares for her friends and family, always putting the needs of others before her own. Over the years-more out of necessity than genuine immorality-Aria has developed a talent for manipulating others. She finds it rather easy to read people, and as such can usually tell them what they want to hear in order to fulfill her own desires. Of course, she wouldn't use this against those she cares about; however, it isn't always something she's conscious of. On occasion, Aria can come off as rather cynical, reluctant to believe in the good intentions of others. For a performer, she's rather introverted, preferring smaller groups to large crowds. And while she doesn't seem the type, Aria secretly cares a great deal for her appearance, especially around those she knows personally. Likes: •Music. Singing and dancing are Aria’s two greatest passions in life; music is what brings her joy. It is also the means through which she uses magic, making it even more meaningful to her. •Performing. Aria loves putting her skills to the test in front of crowds; ever since she was a little girl, she's put on shows for anyone who will listen. As she got older, it became her livelihood. •Learning. Whether it's studying magic or music, Aria enjoys the process of learning. She constantly strives to improve, and dedicates a great deal of time to learning new songs and dance routines. Dislikes: •Being touched without her permission. Given her line of work, Aria has had to ward off unwanted advances for years. She doesn't mind physical contact, but sudden or inappropriate grabs anger her greatly. •Overbearing or nosy people. Aria is a secretive girl who also very much enjoys her space. She's comfortable on her own; people who try to intrude or otherwise burden her get irritating fast. •Drinking/alcohol in general. Years of working in a tavern has exposed Aria to the less fun sides of drinking: aggression, infidelity, and sickness to name a few. As a result, she largely avoids drinking. Goal: Aria's ultimate goal is to free her brother from Catamount's slavery. She despises the fact that he-along with so many others-was forced into compulsory military service for a group of tyrants and murderers. If this means the total destruction of Catamount, then so be it. Fear: Aria's greatest fear is that her brother will die fighting the Forest Vulcans. His safety is what motivates her to get up in the morning, what keeps her going each and every day. His death would be the end of her. How/Why she joined White Gull: Aria's something of a local celebrity on the south side of Kaia. Her talent as a singer and dancer made her fairly well-known to those in her small hometown, especially after she began performing for a living. These days, however, most of her audience is made up of piggish Catamount guild members. Her proximity to them made her a worthwhile target to Zane, who she surprisingly entrusted her status as a mage to. Aria believes that White Gull has a genuine chance at freeing all of Kaia from Catamount, and desperately wants to be a part of the dark guild's downfall. She also believes she's in a good position to help White Gull, given her access to some of Catamount's mages. Location/Color of guild mark: Aria's guild mark is a soft pink color, located on her upper left thigh. Magic Type: Performance Magic Performance Magic is a type of Caster Magic that is an offshoot of both Sound Magic and Dancer Magic. Performance Magic revolves around the use of song and dance as a medium for spellcasting; the user performs various songs and dance routines that create different magical effects. The primary usage for Performance Magic is as a means of supporting one's allies, rather than damaging opponents. Performance Magic allows its user to increase their own fighting abilities, as well as nearby allies. However, it can also be used to hinder the abilities of foes at the user's discretion. Spells: •Lion's Roar: Performed with bold, aggressive steps and powerful vocals, Lion's Roar temporarily increases the strength of the user and their allies within a ten meter radius. Those under this spell will have increased physical strength, and the spells they cast will be slightly more powerful. •Winged Winds: Performed with a light, airy tone and swift movements, Winged Winds temporarily increases the speed of the user and their allies within a ten meter radius. Those under its effects will be able to move faster, and any moving spells they cast (such as a projectile) will also be faster. •Hushed Voices: Hushed Voices is sung in a low, sultry voice accompanied by sensuous motions. This spell temporarily makes any foe within a ten meter radius more suggestible. They are more easily persuaded by the user, and are also more likely to tell the truth when asked. Catamount Group: Second (South Side) Aria belongs to the second Catamount group. However, because she hides her magic and has no perceived fighting ability, she serves as "entertainment" for the Catamount mages that crowd the tavern she works in. Family: Aria has an older brother named Wallace, a mage who uses Requip Magic. Because he was so open about his magic use, Catamount now forces him to fight the Forest Vulcans. Aria and Wallace's parents were both mages who died fighting against Catamount when it first took over. Background: Aria Serotina grew up on the south side of Kaia, in a small port town on the coast. Her mother and father, both retired mages, gave her a peaceful and loving childhood along with her older brother. Aria and Wallace-four years apart in age-shared a deep love for magic that was fostered by their parents. Aria idolized her brother, who developed a sense of protectiveness over her. The two children learned to use magic from their doting parents; Wallace took after their father, and learned to use The Knight, a kind of Requip Magic. Aria, however, was less fond of direct combat and learned Performance Magic from her mother. Having loved music all her life-a passion that was inspired by her mother-Performance Magic seemed to be a good fit. However, magic was always more of a hobby to her than an actual discipline. Around the age of 9, Aria began to put on little shows for her family. While her singing and dancing wasn't exactly great, she did show some talent. Through her practice of Performance Magic, Aria developed this talent into a genuine skill, becoming quite a good singer and dancer by the age of 13. Under the tutelage of her mother, she began to put on public performances, slowly bring in larger and larger crowds desperate for entertainment in an otherwise unremarkable town. However, it was at that point that the dark guild Catamount invaded Kaia; despite the protests of their children, Aria and Wallace's parents came out of retirement to try and fight off the invading guild. However, like most other mages who attempted to resist, they were slaughtered by Catamount. Wallace tried to protect them, but was far too young and inexperienced to stand up to the Catamount mages. Instead of killing Wallace, however, they made an example of him by publicly beating him to the point of unconsciousness. Not long after, he was sent off to fight the nearby Forest Vulcans. Aria, now orphaned and separated from her brother, swore to free him from Catamount at any cost. However, she wasn't quite as reckless as him; she knew that showing off her magic was dangerous, as was openly resisting the dark guild. She also knew she needed some way to make a living, given how devastatingly alone she was. Thankfully, a kind man took pity on the young girl, and offered her a room at his tavern in exchange for menial work: serving food and drinks, wiping off tables, and locking up after closing. The tavern owner, an older man named Alvor, became something of a father figure to Aria. His tavern, The Red Stallion, was originally a popular location for locals, with quality drinks and live music, as well as lodging for travelers. After Catamount's invasion, however, mages from the dark guild-usually those who were involved with the fight against the Forest Vulcans-practically took the place over. Alvor, both aged and without magic, had no choice but to fulfill his service to Catamount by allowing them free reign over his small tavern. After a couple years, most of The Red Stallion's talent acts were gone, forced into service elsewhere. Aria stepped up to provide entertainment for the tavern goers, bringing in extra revenue for Alvor in the process, while also fulfilling her service to Catamount. By the time she was 16, Aria had grown up to be rather pretty, and became something of a favorite among both the locals and the Catamount mages visiting the tavern. While Aria loved performing, the Catamount mages weren't exactly the kindest customers. She was frequently offered money for rather unsavory purposes; other times, they would simply demand sexual favors out of her. Still, Alvor always protected her in these events, and Aria learned to throw a punch when she needed to. This simply fueled her rage and hatred for Catamount, driving her to use her performances for ulterior purposes. One of her spells, Hushed Voices, was easily disguised as just another routine; however, it allowed her to make the Catamount mages much more easily persuaded. Combined with her looks, she slowly began extracting information out of the dark guild mages. Two years later, Aria has now honed this subterfuge into an art, easily manipulating the Catamount mages into giving away key knowledge of the guild's inner workings. She also uses this to keep tabs on Wallace, who she hasn't seen since Catamount's initial takeover.
