Name: Vera Sorenson Age: 15 Appearance: [Still looking for a good pic] Abilities/Limitations: Mimicry Vera has the ability to copy the traits of both living and nonliving objects that she touches. The copying is temporary and fades away after a short period of time, depending on how long she spent touching it. To protect herself and others from harm, she wears special gloves made from a power-nullifying compound, since her power is not one she can turn on and off at will. -When Vera touches an inanimate object, she takes on the properties of said object temporarily. For instance, touching a steel bar will turn her into steel, or a steel-like substance. This does not work on objects she cannot physically touch, like the air, and the transformation only occurs on direct contact with her hands; the effects of indirect contact are too negligible to matter. -Vera's abilities are more pronounced on living subjects, ranging from plants and animals to other humans and superheroes. Upon touching someone with super powers, she will be gifted with a copy of said powers for a period of time. There is no immediate effect on non-powered human individuals. Prolonged contact will cause her appearance to shift closer to the subject she is copying, starting within the minute. It is theorized, however, that if she spends too much time in contact with another subject her appearance will be altered permanently and the subject will begin to break down at a cellular level. Vera has refused to test this aspect of her powers. This mimicry ability WILL occur on indirect contact, though it takes much longer for the effects to manifest. Short Backstory: Vera was adopted by a pair of dads when she was barely a year old, one a daring international archeologist and the other a bookish museum curator. Needless to say life was rarely if ever boring, and her family made enough money that they never had to worry too much about finances or losing their home. Things were pretty normal until she broke away from a kiss with her girlfriend one day to find that they suddenly had the same eyes and hair color. The prognosis came back the next day that she had powers, and things went from bad to worse for Vera; she was pulled out of school as her powers progressed, she had an ugly breakup after her girlfriend announced she didn't want to be in a relationship with a freak show, and she had to wear boxes on her wrists so she wouldn't accidentally touch something when she wasn't paying attention. Luckily, she was picked up by Haven not too long after her powers developed, gifting her with the nullifying gloves as a sign that they could help her live with her new abilities. One can only hope.
