Can also change into a jotun and human variant of his Sinmara form. -Sun Sword: A gleaming blade that glows brighter than the sun and is merely a vessel imbued with some of his power over the millenia. This makes it a very strong implement of battle, however, and it can shoot or emit flames from it. -Laevetainn: A staff covered in all manner of runes, a branch broken off of the world tree Yggdrasil itself. It is a weapon capable of killing Vidofnir, a rooster who sits atop the tree of Mímameiðr and that Surtr finds to be...very annoying. The staff itself can cast much magic, however, and can morph into a sword and back into a staff at the wielder’s will. The blade is under 9 seals only Sinamara/Surtr can willingly undo, only which after being undone would allow others to wield the blade other than Sinmara/Surtr. -He can also summon and control fire, from basic forms all the way up to the great scorching flames of Muspellheim themselves. It surpasses any of the crude elemental control of normal jotun. Even the Bifrost bridge isn’t safe from him if he so desires to destroy it, such is his power. -Immortality: It just means he cannot be killed permanently, and always comes back quickly via the flames of Muspellheim. Description: (What do they look like? Even if you've got a picture, a bit of writing would be nice. Include their usual attire, any notable scarring or markings, etc.) While the Surtr's two forms as a jotun are fiery and terrifying, standing tall with hair of fire, skin dark like greyed charcoal, glowing eyes like suns, glowing cracks on their skin, and a boom in their voices akin to a volcanic eruption, they are not the only forms Surtr can utilize. Unlike other Jotun, beyond having two forms that is, Surtr has access to the magic to change his form to that of a human. His male human form takes the form of a man with short black hair and a mustache/beard combination of small length. It has great musculature all over its body, similar to Surtr's actual body, and a big gut that leads some to think he might be slow and fat. However, one look from those somber and steeled eyes is enough to send chills down the spines of foes, and frankly made him a great stoic bartender back in the day. His female human form, on the other hand, has short black hair as well with small bit of styling to it, along with a muscled body and a relatively attractive overall figure to boot. She may look good, however, but one must not underestimate Surtr's capabilities even in this for due to the jotun's great might. Personality: A very relaxed yet dedicated/passionate sort of person, he trains constantly for his role in Ragnarok without fail...yet can also be found chilling back in a chair in a cafe or other restaurant on another as well. His temper is fiery when it is actually set off, but at the same time he is very tempered and with immense self-control. However, one can taste his prowess in battle and feel the heat of his passions and drive. He is also not one to leave a task unfinished when he sets out to do it, but also appreciates the down time when he is not involved in things. In regards to his duty, he stands by it without fail or hesitation...to waver him from this would be impossible in reality due to his level of dedication to it. Skills: -Sword Wielding -Writing Poetry -Fire Starting/Making -Making drinks (worked part-time at a bar for a few decades once) -Cooking (worked at a number of restaurants and other food-cooking places, and enjoys spicy food a great deal as a result as well) Weaknesses: -His physical vessel can be killed, removing him from an area or location, only to reincarnate in the fires of Muspell and then be forced back into the mortal world again in a random area. A great way to hold him back from an area or distract him otherwise. -His lack of choosing a side has put him in a dangerous spot against both of them, and should they discover his true identity it would be an even worse situation for him in terms of how much attention it would garner. -Can only use Laevatainn in his Sinmara form, and his Sun Sword only in his Surtr form. -The ice of Nifilheim can oppose his world-burning flames, though only at the climax of Ragnarok (where he finally burns the heavens and earth) these flames will finally and briefly become too powerful to oppose in this manner at that time. -The normal “fracture marks”, aka the vulnerable scar tissue areas of a jotun, and his human forms are squishier than a jotun but stronger than any normal human body. Brief History: The very powerful and unique jotun who lived at the gates to Muspellheim, guarding the fiery frontier since time immemorial. A being whose origins are unknown, theorized to maybe be a brother of Ymir himself....or to have been around even longer. He is the being who brings forth the flames of Muspellheim to scorch all the world (heaven and Earth) with flames and destroy it. This, so that it will be reborn, the remaining gods begin over again at an appointed meeting place, the two surviving humans can reproduce and cover the earth again, and the cycle can continue on again as he returns to his duties guarding Muspellheim’s flames once more. In particular, he is destined to slay the god Freyr as well as shatter the Bifrost bridge, and he is a skilled warrior who has continued to hone his skills over the many ages. Overall, he is one who’s role is: "at the end of the world he will go and wage war and defeat all the gods and burn the whole world with fire". Likewise, Surtr possesses an aspect named “Sinmara” who was thought to be his wife/consort due to human interpretations of ancient texts. In reality “she” is but a part of Surtr, being his “other skin” and female form which possesses the legendary blade Laevetainn to guard it from others. Truly a unique situation for the jotun beyond his odd nature, but a role he has always had nontheless. It could be theorized that he is the “origin” of all fire Jotun, and the fact he originated before Ymir (the jotun who originated all other Jotun but Surtr). When “The End” was started and then halted in progress, Surtr was during this pulled from his home and into the mortal realm in preparation for his role. Due to it not being the appointed time for his scorching of the heavens and earth at the climax of Ragnarok, however, he has been left in an...odd position over the last many years. Mostly he was left with trouble, and a lot of nothing to do. Loki’s children he ignored, with them thinking he was a fire Jotun who just didn't want to fight, and the Blessed and those aligned with the gods have attacked him many a time as they have hunted him down with intent to kill....since they think him a normal fire Jotun as well so far. Currently, no one on either side has any idea who he really is, all very much because he has held back in power and not used his blades save in personal practice so far in private. He also has used magic to take on another human form, disappearing and becoming listed as a “dangerous fire Jotun in hiding” by both sides. He has lived in a human form in the mortal realm for many, many years due to this, which exist as “but a glimmer or twinkling” amidst his immortal lifespan. Truth be told, he takes no sides in Ragnarok between Loki’s spawn (with their allies) and the gods. He is a third party, a middle man and force of the universe whose role is to fertilize the new world with the ashes of the old one. This, so that the cycle of life can continue. To this end he seems frustrated with both parties for his own reasons, and notes that a stagnation of the end will only create more problems for the worlds. One example being a “modern” problem like “global warming” here in Midgard, which has actually arisen due to influence from Muspellheim leaking into the mortal world due to his own presence there (itself triggered due to Ragnarok being delayed and incomplete). This being said, he has become accustomed to his current settings in the modern human world, but remains ready for his role to play out in Ragnarok. ...Though with the emergence of the Runes, and the Blessed being out in force, who knows how long his cover might still last? Other: Currently works as a chef at a steakhouse, and has an orange pet cat named Muspell at an apartment he procured using magic.
