The start of something. The young man wears simple dress clothes; a white button-up, black vest, tie, boots and pants. Eric also has a couple of overcoats for varying weather conditions. For more strenuous activities, Eric trades out his vest tie & button-up for a black double breasted military jacket over a white tee shirt. Eric typically carries an Estoc at his hip. In addition, He also wears a plain silver locket inside his shirt that can only be unlocked from the inside, requiring a spectral summon to open it. Alignment: Narcissist (Neutral Impure) / Idealist (Neutral Moral) Personality/Habits: Eric is a torn individual, half of him yearns to be the boy that was; carefree, curious about magic and ignorant to the machinations of the high society he'd been born into. On the other hand he's an embittered and jaded young man; hellbent on avenging his family and restoring their name, or at the very least dragging those who destroyed it down to hell with him. Outwardly this manifests as a polite, but coldly calculating persona. After all, Arden's going to need all the help he can get taking on one of the top "noble" families. Still, Eric will throw himself into social events, officially organized or not, to both find potential allies and distract himself from his grief. Background: Eric Williams is an orphan boy who was raised on the homestead of Sir Wilhelm Branwan, an aging knight. The venerable warrior and his close friends have plenty of stories about a younger Eric to make the straight-laced young man thoroughly embarrassed. And real. Which is exactly what Arden Whitfield, to sole surviving member of the Whitfield family would like you to think. A bit of a black sheep, Arden was the first spirit invoker in his family, with everyone else having been a member of House Dracona. Still, the Whitfield's weren't about an unexpected surprise ruffle their feathers. As soon as Sebastian demonstrated the gift, his parents hired a private tutor for him to begin cultivating his talent at once. The young man's childhood was an idyllic and isolated affair, spent communing etheric beings and learning for learnings sake, blissfully ignorant to the dark underbelly of the high society he'd been born into. At the age of 13, Arden's parents introduced him to high society. While the formal events and all the new faces were certainly exciting, the boy still preferred a quiet life of study. Little more than a year later, everything went to hell. A rival family had his father and older sister, Randall and Vera Whitfield, framed for treason. They were tried, found guilty and executed. The family estate and much of it's holdings were seized, leaving Arden and his mother, Eleanor Whitfield, with next to nothing. The day after the eviction notice arrived, Sir Wilhelm Branwan, an old friend of the family quietly came by to check on Arden and his mom only to find the boy to staring at Eleanor's corpse, his mother having committed suicide the night before. Quietly taking the poor boy in, Sir Branwan enabled Arden Whitfield to disappear, the boy only having made a handful of major public appearances. In the weeks that followed Arden was consumed by grief and rage. Until one night when his emotions hit a fever pitch and he accidentally summoned something, something he possibly shouldn't have. The next morning, Eric Williams was born for a single solitary purpose; to avenge the death of his parents. In the 4 years since then, Eric has trained and studied relentlessly, hellbent on turning himself into the tool to exact his goal. Eric has only recently moved to attend L'Mordryn Academy, aiming to find allies in his quest and to finalize his training. Favorite Summons:
Simply referring to it as "the raven", this is what Arden accidentally summoned on that fateful night. The being in question is no less than a Greater Demon of Vengeance. Their relationship is a strenuous and somewhat odd one as the Demon is as much summoned by Eric as Eric is possessed by the Demon. While their bond is rock solid, the sheer intensity of it makes it difficult for Eric to maintain any other summons. Given the nature of what it is "the raven" is a powerful combatant, even more so when it's actively possessing Eric; squaring their combined combat potential. While the Demon could choose to take on any appearance, it chose a raven to serve as a constant and painful reminder to Eric of why he's fighting; Vera Whitfield's favorite animal was the raven.
