Referred to as "Big Bertha", this weapon would play a key role in reducing the fortresses of Liege and Maubeuge during the opening weeks of the Great War. Technically Robert does not "summon" the entire 170 ton howitzer but rather has the ability to materialize the artillery shells themselves, already fired and in flight on a predetermined trajectory. As the real life weapon was one of the most powerful artillery guns ever produced, its effects are naturally devastating, with the 420mm shells capable of blowing through metal and reinforced concrete whilst leveling city blocks. That said, the weapon is only magical to the degree that the ordinance itself is created from nothing. Once fired, the shells and their effects are otherwise "mundane" having no magical effects beyond the wonders of trinitrotoluene and ammonium nitrate. For obvious reasons the Gamma Gerät is an ability best used against enemies at long range, and close range use would incur the risk of blowing up oneself or allies. The type of ordinance, fuse, and initial trajectory are controlled mentally. As with regular artillery, effective indirect fire relies on communication and cooperation with the forward observers and fire direction center. Personality: Cynical and critical, Captain Liege expects the worst out of every situation and generally displays the bare minimum of enthusiasm. For instance, he has little faith at all in the mission of Operation Symbiosis expecting the whole thing to collapse upon its good intentions in the long run. Paradoxically, he is nevertheless committed fully to accomplishing whatever mission is given to him, and will do so with a devotion to practicality over all other concerns. *Likes: 4 day passes *Dislikes: uniform inspections Fears: Waking up late to first formation Bio: Robert Liege has grown jaded after 9 years in the military, regarding its idealistic image and purpose as propaganda for public consumption. Although often remarking that he can't wait to get out, the truth is that, having enlisted straight out of high school, Robert has no idea how to live outside the military and so always re-upped and eventually went to Officer Candidate School. The power of the "Noble Arms" emerged comparatively late in life, while he was in his early twenties. Once this was discovered, the Army logically moved Robert from infantry to artillery. Being a "grunt" was a source of personal pride, and so the switch remains a cause of some resentment. Having grown up most his life as a "mundane" individual of typical middle class background, being an "Arms Master" is still not a huge part of his self identity. He is completely dispassionate with regard to the great social debate over the relationship between those with and without magical powers. Captain Robert Liege is now the commander of Special Artillery Battery A (Field Artillery Battalion/1st Brigade). Whereas a typical artillery battery will include 6-8 howitzers, the Fires Section of Battery A is comprised solely of Captain Liege himself.
