Zoey sees herself as a mixed bag, someone approachable yet sassy, driven yet stubborn, and optimistic yet blunt. Her curiosity is at the core of her as a person, as she loves exploring what each region has to offer in terms of environments and Pokémon, studying every detail she can, and sharing it with those who want to hear what she has to say. While she's more interested in taking notes on Pokémon, that doesn't mean she'll shy away from a battle and will gladly accept the challenge with a confident smirk on her face. Her battling style revolves around playing it safe initially to figure out an opponent's flaws before exploiting them with hyper offensive maneuvers. While she rarely participates in Contests, she likes the thought that gets put into them and when she does enter one, she's more focused on the flair of her performances.

Zoey, like most children, had an insatiable curiosity that often led her to the library in Canalave, where she would spend countless hours reading whatever book she could reach. Even if she didn’t understand a lot of them, as she would get older the stories and history books began to naturally make more sense. Her father readily recognized this, and on her 10th birthday, gave her her first Pokémon: Shellos. Unlike those found near Canalave, he captured this one on the East side of Sinnoh, and then told his daughter to explore the region and when she gets the chance, visit the regions professor. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to sate her curiosity, Zoey began her own journey through Sinnoh with her trusted Shellos. At the time, she wasn’t interested in training or going after the gyms, but rather on simply exploring what was beyond Canalave, and explore she did.

When she finally managed to meet Professor Rowan at his lab, he saw potential in the young girl with… a single Pokémon. While he gave her a Pokédex, when Zoey was offered a starter Pokémon, she promptly refused, saying Shellos was enough for now in her travels. While initially puzzled that she didn’t accept, he soon came to understand her desire for knowledge, and the two came to a beneficial understanding, one that would lead her to becoming one of his assistants.

From there, Zoey was tasked with capturing Pokémon for Rowan’s research not just within Sinnoh, but also in the other regions as well. She’s traveled far and wide to meet his expectations over the years, and the majority of Pokemon she’s captured she immediately sent to Rowan after evolving them. Now, she’s making her way towards the Rorie Islands for science!
