[b]Magic:[/b] Though Vanessa arguably has no connection or skill in anything magical, were such a thing to manifest, it might just take the form of an ability to enhance her senses, specifically her vision. Such a thing might even let her see creatures through their supernatural disguises, in the dark, in a storm. But who knows? It's not like she can do any magic!

Vanessa has a sharp eye and is effectively skilled enough to take an inpromptu position as a close-range sniper or point girl. She's strong and capable, with an impressive physique even before her admission. What she lacks in extra-natural ability she makes up for with undying determination and hard-nosed competence. She is a survivor and will look for the solution rather than worry about what might happen.

She appears to have little or no connection to the magical arts whatsoever, owing, at the very least, to never having had any talent activated. As such, she is immediately at a disadvantage when the magics come out, and without her weapons or restrained, there isn't much she can do. People could also theoretically make her zone out by talking about her parents.

She has issues relaxing, and can generally be found looking for the exits and the best places for an ambush whenever she enters a new place. [b]Backstory: [/b]
Vanessa is the daughter of Lieutenant Reginald Knight, an army officer stationed in the Oceanic region. She moved around with him for most of her young life, adopting the style and knowledge of your regular nomadic military daughter.

Approximately two years ago, all contact was lost with the latest such of her homes, when the base on an island in the Pacific suddenly went silent. Investigation revealed a mass of blood and burnt buildings. Only a handful of survivors were found, two of which have since gone missing. Vanessa was found during day two of the investigation effort, locked in a basement with a whole arsenal of guns, covered in blood and clutching a knife in desperation. Few bodies were ever discovered in the area, but there can be - should be - no argument about what terrible events transpired to exterminate a whole base of soldiers.

On interrogation, Vanessa let slip that she fought back. Whatever transpired in the rest of the interview, it was enough to put her on the interest list, despite having no apparent lineage to speak of. Now she is at the school with nothing but trinkets from her past life.
