[b]Fashion Sense:[/b][indent]Hyouka tends to dress very casually when not in uniform, most of the time sporting sweatpants and some t-shirt with a weird design or mascot character. She also wears black rubber claw-gloves with bumps and various attachments for interacting with everyday human objects, lovingly made by her father. Hyouka enjoys IP merchandise from her favorite genres and loves displaying said merch whenever given the opportunity. Her aesthetic resembles that of a middle school fanboy for all things shounen. The only thing she really lacks is video game merchandise because her hands are not conducive to playing games, so she never really got into them.[/indent]
[b]Distinguishing Features:[/b][indent]Hyouka is short for her age, often getting mistaken for a middle schooler. She has long, straight, red hair that goes down to her calves, and guarded, red eyes. Long antennae sprout from the top of her head, while her skin is covered in patches of rust-red shell. Instead of hands, her arms end in pincers, with her left being larger and bulkier than her right.[/indent][/indent]

[indent]Shy and introverted, Hyouka is an otaku who likes nerdy, boyish things, like Super Sentai, Ultraman, Godzilla movies, Cantonese Kung Fu movies, and giant mecha anime. She has poor self-awareness and loses herself to excitement when it comes to her hobbies or when doing 'heroic' deeds. This makes her appear to switch between an 'outgoing' side and a 'shrinking violet' side. Growing up in a world where quirks are reviled, and mutation quirks in particular are demonized, Hyouka has attempted to close herself off from the ridicule by embracing isolation. Yet her spirit continues to burn with fiery heroism. In a field dominated by exemplars of the human form, Hyouka seeks to prove that even Saturday morning cartoon monsters can be heroes.[/indent]

[indent]Her parents immediately knew something was wrong when a soft, translucent egg was born instead of an infant. Though they had never really had to think about relationships between normal humans and those with quirks, the birth of their child made them reevaluate their worldview. Fortunately, they decided to embrace their daughter, and learn tolerance for others among her new and unique kind.

Because of her unique hands, her mother kept her away from house chores, so her father taught her to participate in his hobbies, where her destructive, 'fat fingers' were less of an issue. Through this she was able to develop passable levels of manual dexterity, though she needs to resort to wearing special rubber gloves that provide her with some form of grip in order to deal with various everyday objects. But because of these closer interactions with her father, she picked up on many of his favorite forms of media, becoming a bit of a tomboy and a daddy's girl. She became enamored with hero shows, and because her parents treated her as their precious little princess, she had never considered how others would react to her appearance until she entered school.

In school, she didn't understand why kids avoided her or talked about her behind her back, or why teachers often turned a blind eye to kids who bullied her. Everything came to a head during a class in which all the students took turns standing in front of the class and read aloud their essay on what they wanted to be when they grew up. Hyouka announced loudly and proudly that she was going to be a hero, like the ones from TV shows and cartoons. The other students jeered, calling her [url=https://ultra.fandom.com/wiki/Alien_Baltan]Baltan-seijin[/url], and that she would never be a hero. She ran home in tears and binge-watched her favorite shows, realizing the sheer number of clawed, arthropod-like aliens, and that to the rest of the world, she looked just like these monsters. Though her parents tried to encourage her, she closed herself off from her peers, allowing the hurled insults to roll off her shoulder. Over time, with no friends and no after-school activities, Hyouka began spending more and more time at home, going to school only for her mandatory studies.

To keep her engaged, her father started encouraging her to try various feats with her quirk, filming her, and posting videos online, resulting in playlists like the "Hydraulic Pinch Channel" and "Shrimp Tail Parkour", in which Hyouka pushes the limits on what she can crush with her claws and uses her massive tail to aid in ridiculous jumping feats. Online, things that were not socially acceptable found their niche, and behind the barrier of silicon, Hyouka was allowed to be herself, reviving her hope in one day pursuing her dream. But the family, who believed in peace between those with quirks and those without, felt that vigilantism was not only dangerous, but technically unlawful, and that the ideal hero worked in accordance with the law instead of outside of it. So when the announcement of a brand new school specifically for training heroes came up, Hyouka knew she had to apply.[/indent]

[b]Physical Drawbacks:[/b][indent]Of particular note is Hyouka's extreme lack of manual dexterity, as she has pincers instead of hands.  She has special gloves and other handicap equipment for dealing with everyday objects like doorknobs, eating utensils, computer keyboards, and her cell phone. [b]Eating Habits:[/b][indent]Hyouka was taught from a young age that heroes were not picky about their food and always ate their vegetables so they could grow up to be strong, so Hyouka has always had a fairly healthy and nutritious diet. She isn't a health nut, and does like her occasional snack or junk food, but she never loses self-control, or let her cravings consume her. Her one weakness is sour foods, while she is fine with a dash of vinegar or lemon and lime added for flavor, excessively sour foods is not something she can handle. Seafood of any sort is her favorite.[/indent]
[b]Hygiene Habits:[/b][indent]Hyouka was taught from a young age that heroes required self-discipline. Due to her clumsy fingers, acts personal hygiene, like tooth brushing and applying soap when washing, were difficult. But her parents taught her to push through and overcome the difficulty in order to develop self-discipline. So Hyouka now has very regimented self-care routines. She's not afraid of getting dirty, because she knows she'll clean herself up, but messy behavior, like dropping crumbs on the floor, is one of her pet peeves.[/indent]
