Not great, but, you know, fine. Anyways, he didn’t spend much time there; being adopted around the age of five as he was. Luca was one of those rare types of children that never needed a stern hand, or really any sort of hand at all. Incidents of dishonesty and disobedience were few and far between, he did his chores when asked, and got good grades in school. All of this earned him a level of autonomy that few other children his age were afforded. Rather than being told to do the right thing and how to do it, he simply did right without needing much in the way of instruction. So what if he made odd comments about himself or those around him? Though confusing, they were hardly offensive in nature. So what if he left the house one summer with only a note goodbye as explanation, returning a week later claiming to have been “looking for snipes” as if it was the most reasonable thing in the world? So what if occurrences like this were a fairly common factor in his life? Despite his quirks, Luca was growing into a thoughtful, soft-spoken young man with few truly close friends, but many that welcomed his presence. Perhaps it was that lack of strong ties, both platonic and familial, that encouraged him to attend KIU. It certainly wasn’t for need of a higher education, though he performed well in his studies. His parents were independently wealthy, after all, neither having a job and instead choosing to busy themselves coordinating with town councils in the area to improve the quality of life in the county for its citizens. Their child never needed to be told what was right and wrong more than once and so they trusted him to handle the family fortune with wisdom and generosity. No, Luca chose to attend KIU because he had been struck by whimsy, as he so often was. Why not travel to a foreign country without any knowledge of the local language to study an interesting but ultimately fruitless avenue of education? Indeed, though many might see several obvious “why nots,” to Luca there was only a list of "why shoulds" that grew longer every day. Now, he’s on his second year at the university, still doesn’t understand japanese, and is having the time of his life. [/hider] Here's my sheet, I'm giving this a whirl! Ponyo is one of my favorite movies so the Ghibli films definitely have a warm place in my heart. I think this could be a lot of fun.
