She flung open one of the many doors marking its entrance in annoyance, forcing a group of students from some District 9 school to dodge out of the way; it wasn't particularly often that she was barred entry to an entire mall, usually just the individual shops inside. "Hold on Kei, would you-" Yo started, as he pushed his way around another gaggle of students that caught his path, "Would you slow down a sec?" In terms of physical ability, he was no match for Kyoko. She seemed to be spending all her free time in some activity or another nowadays, unless it was time dedicated to meeting friends. Perhaps it was the fact she never attended school, he considered. But to have free time, whenever that time was needed, it felt almost like a carefully cultivated skill. She was never interrupted, never cancelled plans, and never arrived late - and yet she was always busy with something or another. Not even a NEET like Hiki had that much time on his hands. But Yo's call-out seemed to reach her. She had continued her march down the street a short ways, but it wasn't that far away before she stopped and deviated off to the side, into the shade of some stores awning. It didn't take long to catch up. "'Excuse me, you're Miss Amori, right? I'm gonna have to ask you to leave' fucking bullshit..." Kyoko muttered, slightly louder than she had intended, as Yo approached, "Gotta love that Level 5 lifestyle, dontcha? - science experiments, allowance cuts and shit like this." She slipped her bag off her back, and let it drop to the floor as she slumped against the wall with it - something metal near the bottom audibly colliding with the pavement as it fell. "You okay down there?" "Who, me? Oh, yeah, great. Magnifico, molto bene." Kyoko glanced up at her friend, who slid down the wall beside her. As far as Yonosuke's famously documented expressions of concern went, his look fell around the margin of "You think I believe that bullshit?" and "You're not getting enough sleep, are you?" "I never asked: how do you feel about that?" Yo asked, as he pulled out a second bottle of soda. "That," she took the drink, "was two weeks ago. Hiki already said everything, anyway." the open bottle forced away her slight, reminiscing smile, "'How could a middle schooler derank her?!', 'What's the world coming to?!'" Kyoko laughed. Yonosuke did not. "Yeah, but... I'm meant to be your best friend and all, y'know? Childish promise or not." You're not meant to bring that up, she thought. Somewhere in the past a little Kyoko and a little Yonosuke were making a pinky promise. "We'll stay friends even after we're both Level 5's!" - a promise only children were capable of making. Part of her wanted to reply: "Like I'd remember some weird promise like that". The same part of her that occasionally had to stop her from assaulting shop owners, from using her Ability on street thugs, and, when things got really bad, from destroying the city. From his spot to the side, he could see the grave expression she wore. "So, c'mon. How do you feel about it?" "I don't really care about it." Yo rolled his eyes. "Tell me the tru-" "I'm sure seven year old me is off kicking herself at the idea of getting deranked by some fourteen year old, but I don't care about it, or her, or the "Level 5 Rankings". And I guess that frustrates me?" Kyoko continued. Using Yo as a platform, she grabbed his shoulder, and pulled herself up from the floor, "Like, I wish I cared that this kid passed me, cause then I'd be motivated to take back my spot at number four and all. But I just don't." Yonosuke sighed. He'd known her long enough to tell what was a lie and what wasn't when it came to her responses, even though she usually played close to her chest. It made sense, given her lifestyle, but he could tell, as much as he wished he couldn't. Somewhere deep down she was lying that she didn't care - some residual motivation from her days of obsessing over ability development, and how cool the Level 5's were - but he couldn't just say that. Instead, he stood up. "D'ya wanna check in here?" he stuck his thumb behind him, to the shop they had taken shade under. A medium sized, odds-and-ends type of store, with a window lined almost entirely with Gekota merchandise. Even a weird looking, limited edition phone case - the kind of thing he could tell in an instant that Chi would love to own. Not a beat passed with Kyoko stepping around him and into the store, leaving him to trail along again. "If you really wanna know about that Level 5, why dontcha go find them? They're a middle schooler, can't be that hard to find." she joked, as she picked up with of the phone cases, seemingly pleased that she hadn't been thrown out of the place yet, "They're a Teleporter too. Who knows, maybe they'll fix that calculation glitch you keep having?" "That's not a bad ide-" "Or maybe she'll just say Kyoko was right, and removing that air displacement calculation in favour of my proposed shortcut is all you need~"
