This power was once used to great affect during the battle against the Ancient Evil. It's original owner died during the battle however, since then, know one had any idea of how to summon the blade until sometime later after the war. Those filled with great curiosity regarding the sword, came to understand that only those who were 'worthy' had the capability of summoning such a weapon. Only mighty champions, the types you would find in legends were capable of wielding its power. So did the masses fill themselves with determination to better themselves and strive for greatness? No, that did not happen. Unfortunately, our age is one that strives for accessibility above all else. Afterall, no matter how fantastical the world has become from these mighty blessings and powers, it was always one of science. That is why the Storm Break Project was formed. The idea is to study and examine the personality traits, features and thought patterns of the previous chosen ones, map them out and plant them into a person. All so they could meet the requirements of summoning Dainsleif. It was essentially a cheat code to obtain a powerful weapon. The concept and theme of the Sword of Ragnarok was as thus; the War to end Wars, the end of gods and a new beginning. As such, the one that is worthy must embody these them. They must have a deep understanding and a certain appreciation for war, yet at the same time is one that seeks to bring peace. They respect and heed the lessons that the gods have to offer, however they do not follow under any religious banner. In fact they are stubbornly free-thinking and independent. Lastly, they accept that eventually all things must naturally end to make way for the greater good. It was through these ideals that the scientists were able to understand that these thought patterns allowed for a certain wavelength to connect with Dainsleif, similar to that of a radio frequency that was difficult to pick up. They had found that all they needed to do was perfectly 'attune' the mind of a person to match that 'frequency'. However, this proved to be no easy feat. During the 'programming' stages, several errors occurred. Certain 'attributes' would tend to outweigh the others. For instance; there were some that became battlemongers, that fell in love with war. There were pacifists that outright refused any conflict. Zealots that worshiped their god's laws above all else. These and such other issues continued to pop up until eventually they had managed to figure out the correct formula for their experiment, successfully creating someone that could summon Dainsleif. Yet, there were further issues... While the mental map constructed did help them achieve their goal, it also brought forth uncompromising test subjects. As their very nature refused the inhumanity of the Storm Break Project. This caused the first subject to flee and the second subject to attack. Though they caused extreme pains, eventually each of them were disposed of. That brings us to the third successful subject, Jonah Rhodes. Like the others, Jonah was a young orphan when he was selected for the project. As young minds were easier to influence and develop. He had a life previously, but since past memories could get in the way of the mental requirements, such memories were removed. And as per usual, the programming consisted of hypnosis, audio suggestion and magical illusions. At that point all systems were ready to go. Yet, they wanted to the prevent the previous acts of insubordination that had already come to pass. So they came up with two solutions; one, was to make him an idiot so that he couldn't think of a clever way to escape their clutches. Of course, they made sure this wouldn't interfere with the necessary thought patterns, nor his combat ability. The other was to implant a chip in his neck, that when pressed by a remote would could a series of nauseating vibrations to ring within his body. This was their way of restraining him should any time he prove problematic for them. Nevertheless regarding these dirty matters, there was no doubt that Jonah was someone incredibly good-natured. So there was no doubt that he would attend the prestigious St. Laurels, right? Well no, for one thing, Jonah just wasn't smart enough to attend such a place, but more importantly, the one responsible for funding such a terrible project known as 'Storm Break' resided within Mephisto's. It was for that reason he was sent there by his superiors..
Powers:
Dainsleif(Sword of Ragnarok) - A sword that contains the very concept of the tale of Ragnarok. It's abilities reside around its meaning of the "Final Battle" and "The End of the Gods". When not active, it is only a simple sturdy blade of 3 and a half feet. The sword can go into battle mode only when there is conflict within the area. As such, it cannot display its abilities when faced with someone that means no harm nor when he is alone by himself. When active however, the blade becomes enshrouded in yellow lightning. However, it's main feature is the source of it's true power. As this sword represents the 'Final Battle', it's goal is to find the necessary amount of power to end the conflict by measuring it's foes. In other words, the more enemies that the user has to battle, the larger and stronger the shroud of lightning becomes. The base lightning shroud being 12 inches thick in circumference. Each enemy = +12 inches The current limit being 15 foes for the core power and the current limit for skills being 10 requirements Skills: The Murder of Tyr - (The ability to increase power from the number of enemies is locked while this skill is active) Tyr was recognized as a god over law and justice. This skill represents the necessary amount of power to kill one such as him, and so, the lightning around the blade becomes larger and stronger in response to the number of blocked strikes by a single target. This resets every every 60 seconds Each strike = +10 inches The Silence of Heimdallr - (The ability to increase power from the number of enemies is locked while this skill is active) Heimdallr was the watcher over Asgard and possessed foresight of even Ragnarok, but even that was not enough to overcome his doom. This skill represents the necessary amount of power to kill one such as him, and so, the lightning around the blade becomes larger and stronger in response to the number of people that know about Dainsleif in a 25 feet radius. This includes non-enemies Each person = +6 inches The Fall of Freyr - (The ability to increase power from the number of enemies is locked while this skill is active) Freyr is a god associated with with prosperity. Yet, these blessings weren't enough to escape Ragnarok. This skill represents the necessary amount of power to kill one such as him, and so, the lightning around the blade becomes larger and stronger in response to the number of blessings and skills of a single one selected target. Each one = +6 inches 'The Death of Gods' Skills cannot be stacked.
Relationships:
None so far
