At least the last one had proven to be rather entertaining, but for now, he must carry on, to do his lord's bidding. Yet before he could depart, the young boy's cry took called his attention. It took Gawain a minute, but he did recognize the young lad. The implications of his being alone here were... unfortunate. Another man may grasp to the hope that there might yet be some hope left for him. Perhaps they were merely separated, and nothing more. But as a victim to a bastard of a father for many years before he was graced with his savior, Gawain was not willing to bet on that. Stopping promptly only to read the letter he was given, Gawain pondered what to do in this situation. Removing these pests was of course a priority, but leaving this small child to fend for himself when he was quite obviously in a terrible state was not something Gawain would allow himself to do. Doing such a heartless thing would be unbecoming. Gawain approached the boy and dropped to a knee so he could be at eye-level with him. "Hello, young one." his voice was soft. "Are you lost? Alone?" Gawain almost couldn't help but feel embarrassed. Surely the kid saw him fight, otherwise why would he be seem so scared of him? He tried his best to appear as friendly as possible, so as to let the boy know he meant no harm. A warm smile took over his features. "If you would let me, I can lead you to a safer place." He would still need to carry out his orders in a timely manner. But if protecting this young boy took time, then that simply meant he would need to make quick work of his targets to make up for it.
