However, it also serves marvelously as a wand from which abilities can be conducted down its length. • Abilities: Water Magic: In a past chapter of her life, Kanbaru had dominion over ice alone, but before that her soul had awoken to use water as her weapon. In the Tower, water has returned to answer her call once again, shifting through states of matter, quantity, and pressure with but a whim and a wave of her Key. Quick Dash: Launching herself off her backfoot at such speeds she passes unharmed through attacks between the point she moves and the point she lands. Maximum distance is 15ft before she has to stop, re-orient, and dash again. • Background: Miso City is no stranger to the magical and the bizarre. There was always something going bump in the night, then followed by something bringing an end to it, only to replaced by something new and unfamiliar. Kanbaru Otoko used to go bump in the night, until the particular form of magic that empowered her disappeared on the wind and left her niche society rather splintered. Close partnerships broken alongside the element that galvanized them, the former Dark Magical Girls of Miso City drifted apart. It had been a fun ride, even if it was marked by chronic stress fawning over emotionally dysfunctional youths who by their very nature were incredibly selfish, but as it ended Kanbaru prepared to move on as well enroll at a school elsewhere as her family moved to find better paying work. The day before the move as she laid waiting for sleep to claim her, her cat curled at her feet and hogging the bedsheets most eggregiously, she thought she glimpsed a peculiar sight looming in the sky over Miso. She eyed it, considered it, and ultimately shrugged before turning over to sleep. Her magic was gone, so clearly it was someone else's issue to deal with. How wrong she was.
