I have finished with my dude. He is a repurposed character that I had been using for the last two Mass Effect roleplays that I expressed interested in. Hopefully, it's good enough. He maintained a healthy body and often worked out despite his prosthetic leg. Whenever he wore his armor, the prosthetic leg never stood out and often mistaken as a real leg. It never was his intention to make it match with his armor. In casual wear, on the other hand, it stood out even though Marius wore jewelry all over his arms for aesthetic purposes. Faro kept his hair at medium length because of his time in the military. And if jewelry and a prosthetic leg wasn't enough, he also had several tattoos all over his body including a shoulder sleeve tattoo. Marius' first tattoo was a tribute to Torfan that he got after he retired from the Alliance. It didn't stand out, unlike the other tattoos that he acquired during his time in C-Sec and Omega. For example, he had a tattoo of the Solar System on his back, a tattoo of the desert on his right ankle, and several other minor tattoos on his body. The most prominent tattoo that Marius got was his shoulder sleeve tattoo depicting a knight's shoulder armor with his family's crest on it. It was significant because it was the only connection Marius had left to his family and he never wanted to forget it.
[sub]B A C K G R O U N D[/sub]

[sub]"The hardest lesson that I learned during my youth was to think for myself."[/sub] Marius Faro was born in Mars' first settlement, Lowell City, a year after the discovery of the Martian Ruins. Both of his parents were scientists that took part in the exploitation of the ruins for remaining technologies. Six months after Marius' birth, his parents' contract with the Systems Alliance wasn't renewed, and they moved back to America as a result. His mother, Alyssa, became a recruiter for the Alliance's science department to provide a better life for her only child. On the other hand, his father remained an independent scientist and accepted a contract to study the newly discovered Charon Relay. It was where he spent eight years living and working while sending money back to his family on Earth. Then, Relay 314 was discovered by the Alliance around the time Franco was scheduled to return home. He decided at the last minute to help with reactivating the relay. While they were working to reactive it, the turians attacked and destroyed nearly the entire fleet. Marius and his mother learned about Franco's fate when a lone starship returned. Heartbroken and angry, Alyssa developed a hatred of turians and wanted them to pay for murdering her husband. Her resentment grew worse when Shanxi fell. Now, she and plenty of people were ready and willing to support an interplanetary war. Unfortunately for them, the Citadel Council stepped in between and forged peace before war truly begun. The council's intervention changed Alyssa forever. She found comfort with Terra Firma, a growing anti-alien political party, and eventually rose to become one of its key speakers. Meanwhile, Marius struggled without his father during middle and high school. His mother didn't help much other than taking him to one of Terra Firma's rallies. Instead, he tried to find comfort by seeking answers to his father's death. That was when he learned that humans unknowingly violated one of the Council laws by reactivating Relay 314. It helped him understand why the turians attacked, but it didn't bring him comfort about his father's death. Things only got worse once high school began. Many of his peers were bothered with the fact that his mother was part of Terra Firma and considered Marius to have the same beliefs. Some students defended him because they had parents in the same political party and openly xenophobe. The only place that he was able to hide was on the extranet. It was when he met Arrutis Isaraka, a turian from Palaven, and quickly formed a friendship at the end of Marius' freshman year; however, Marius kept it a secret to his mother. While their friendship kept on growing, his relationship with his mother started to sour. Eventually, both of them realized that they had feelings for each other and secretly started online dating. Marius feared what would happen to Arrutis if his mother found out about their relationship. Meanwhile, more of his peers began to realize that he was different from his mother; but, it still wasn't enough. Marius felt like he wanted to prove everyone wrong and decided to plan something in his senior year. The plan was for Marius to attend Alyssa's rally on the ninth anniversary of the First Contact War to reveal that he had been dating a turian to embarrass her. Before the day of the rally, Marius told and introduced a few of his friends to Arrutis. One of his friends suggested that Marius should hack into one of Terra Firma's screens and reveal his lover. He had doubts about it but was convinced into doing it. On the day of the rally, Marius managed to hack the screens on the stage before the speech began. While Alyssa was giving her address, he stood up and started to confront his mother about her bigoted views. It was when he used his omni-tool and revealed Arrutis to the world. He proceeded to explain that he and Marius had been dating online for three years. His mother was caught off guard by the news and abruptly left the stage, dragged Marius with her. Yet, no-one knew that someone recorded and posted the entire disruption on the extranet. It was such a big scandal that Terra Firma denounced Alyssa and discredited her as a member. She never forgave Marius and felt like he dishonored his father for dating his "murders." When he turned eighteen and graduated, Alyssa kicked her son out and told him never to see her again. He initially tried to stay with Arrutis at his parent's place; however, his parents also found out about their relationship and forced them to end it. With nowhere else to go, Marius went to an Alliance recruiter to join. He got basic training before being placed in a division apart of the Alliance Engineering Corp. His division was responsible for maintaining defenses of colonies located in the Skyllian Verge against pirates and slavers. Whenever he was on military leave, he attended college in Elysium to get a degree in electrical engineering. Thankfully, Marius wasn't on Elysium when it came under attack during the Skyllian Blitz. That attack made him hate pirates and felt like he had to fight back. When he heard of the upcoming battle on Torfan, he requested transform to the 103rd Marine Division. The chain of command, at first, disapproved the transform until they found out about the pirate strongholds were underground connected through tunnels. Since Marius was a qualified engineer, his request was approved and the division left shortly after. The Battle of Torfan was a bloodbath for the Alliance while a massacre for the pirates on the moon. Hundreds of Alliance soldiers were killed during the push towards their underground strongholds. Meanwhile, Marius was one of the dozens of engineers sent out to find tunnels created by the pirates and develop new ones for the Alliance. One of the tunnels was rigged to explore and Marius was sent to defuse the explosives. Unluckily, it exploded and nearly caved him in; but, a rock landed on his left foot and broke it. It was his first serious injury that he ever got, but he never regretted the decision to join the Marine Division. However, it was a wakeup call. When Marius got his degree, he decided to retire from the Alliance and left for the Citadel. But, civilian life was difficult for him to get back into. The Citadel was too peaceful for a military man, like Marius, to spend his remaining life. He also didn't have many friends in the Citadel until he met Sertius Quintis. Quintis was a C-Sec officer that met with Yanagita during his break. Both Quintis and Marius were military men who recently retired from the military and went to the Citadel for comfort. Instead, Quintis joined C-Sec to keep himself busy. After some convincing, Marius applied to the C-Sec's Network Division. It wasn't as fun as being part of the Patrol Division, but he knew that his skill would be best suited to deal with E-Crimes. For seven months, he did his job for the Network Division to the best of his abilities without question. His superiors were impressed with Marius and gave him pay raises. And Quintis became a great friend to Marius. Life was comfortable enough for Marius until he found himself in danger. Members of the powerful Citadel gang, Phoenix, had been eluding C-Sec for years and taking over the drug trade. Even with humans joining, it wasn't enough to end their reign. Until Quintis was tipped by a rival gang member of the possible location of their next major red sand deal; but, he was found dead before he could share any more info. That was when he asked if Marius could set up hidden surveillance at the site without everyone in C-Sec knowing. There was enough footage to bust the dealers and his goons, but the leader of Phoenix, Sennia Floriril, wasn't present at the deal. Regardless, it was C-Sec's first significant success against Phoenix and it led to small gains with help from Marius. For nearly a month, both he and Quintis went to war against the gang and crippled their operations. It wasn't until the arrest of Floriril's husband that he made a fatal mistake. Marius accidentally left behind a trail that led to his workplace while hacking into her personal computer. With the location of his workspace and home, Floriril decided to send a message to C-Sec by killing Marius herself. On the day after the arrest, Marius was driving his shuttle home when another shuttle rammed into it. The collision caused him to lose control and crash landed into a nearby office building. The members of Phoenix, including Floriril, begun rushing towards his location as Marius struggled out of the shuttle. He saw several gang members approaching him with the intent to kill; however, they didn't know that he was a soldier. Only having a pistol with him, Marius stood his ground against the assault while Floriril watched behind the scenes. Eventually, she presented herself to him with nothing besides her exoskeleton armor and began fighting Marius. He fought back as hard as possible, but it wasn't enough. She successfully defeated him by breaking his left leg hard enough to split open. She started to gloat about her victory as she was getting ready to stomp him to death. But, Floriril wasn't paying enough attention to her surroundings and was fatally shot by Quintis. He immediately took to the nearest hospital, where doctors tried to save his leg. Sadly, it had to be cut off to save his life. After the attack, Phoenix faded into existence due to the death of its leader. Meanwhile, Marius spent time in the hospital recovering and getting used to his prosthetic leg. He later learned that he was honorably discharged from C-Sec and forced into another early retirement. Marius immediately grew bored and announced the decision of leaving the Citadel for Omega to become a mercenary. He tried to ask Quintis if he wanted to come with him because he had feelings for him. However, Quintis tried to convince Marius not to become a mercenary because he thought it would have violated everything he has done. Marius left the Citadel behind shortly after. For four months, Marius took on a few jobs in Omega while using several aliases and gained a decent reputation for getting the job done despite leaving behind a mess. And whenever he wasn't working, Marius was doing drugs and hooking up with strangers. It got to the point where it became his daily route. Then, he heard that the captain aboard the Achilles was looking for hired help. Marius accepted the offer in the hopes of breaking his pattern by leaving Omega. And of course, he wanted to be paid a lot of credits.
[sub]S K I L L S[/sub]

Marius was a trained Alliance engineer with years of experience under his belt. While in the army, he earned his engineering degree on Elysium and found himself in C-Sec's Network Division. He taught himself how to use a shotgun, but knew how to handle a sniper rifle. If there was one thing Marius could thank his mother, it was giving him sniper lessons for free. One of her friends hosted lessons to prepare for a possible invasion for the turians. It included many useful skills, but Marius found sniping to be more interesting. His marksmanship improved incredibly once the Alliance realized his potential. Yet, he carried a shotgun and a pistol whenever he was on the front lines. For his skills as an engineer, he knows how to repair, restore, and build several things if you give the space and the tools required. His specialty is weapons, armors, prosthetics, and augmentations; but, he does know a few things about fixing ships. Unfortunately, he was a terrible hacker compared to other engineers in the Alliance. It was one of the reasons why the Alliance moved him to the front lines rather than with the other engineers. Besides combat, Marius found interest in history and took several courses on the subject while in college. Sketching was a hobby that Marius hid from everyone since his childhood. He tried to open up to Quintis, but he was focused on work than having hobbies.
[sub]E Q U I P M E N T[/sub]

Naginata Sniper Rifle
[sub]Marius never felt comfortable with Alliance-issued sniper rifles during his time as a soldier. That was when he found out about Naginata and fell in love with it instantly. He brought it after he retired from the Alliance and took it with him to the Citadel. Of course, he kept it hidden from everyone except Quintis. Once he left for Omega, Marius upgraded its thermal clip capacity and piercing to make sure it was perfect. He also got it engraved in the same fashion as the shotgun. And it also contained his family's crest for good luck and a sense of protection.[/sub]
Hurricane Shotgun
[sub]It was the oldest weapon that Marius ever had because he brought it for the Battle of Torfan. It saved his life several times during the battle. Afterward, he took it with him to the Citadel and kept it as a display. It was unused for his time in C-Sec until he left for Omega. He also got its thermal clip capacity and high caliber barrel upgraded before officially beginning his job as a mercenary. Once Marius earned enough credits, it was the first weapon to be engraved. He added in the family crest shortly after the engravements. Because the shotgun was considered outdated, he was required to perform maintenance on it monthly. Otherwise, Marius refused to upgrade to the latest shotgun model since the original had a lot of sentimental value.[/sub]
Judgement Pistol
[sub]A used pistol that he brought from a salvage store in Omega. It required some fixes and upgrades to its magazine capacity and barrel. But, it wasn't anything special to him. It featured no custom engravings or colors. Marius only used it if he didn't have his shotgun nearby for close combat. He also used it as a quick form of protection since it was easier to draw than a shotgun.[/sub]
Nexus omni-tool
[sub]It was a farewell gift from Quintis that cost him a fortune. Marius felt guilty about accepting it, but it was so good to refuse. The omni-tool was perfect for someone like Marius. It had the latest diagnostic tool and repair and programming feature out of the other omni-tools. It also had the hacking feature, but he barely used it. There were also slight features like scanner, camera, and contacts list. It only had Quintis' number, which was meant to be called in the case that Marius was done being a mercenary. And it had an omni-tattoo that was nothing unique.[/sub]
[abbr=Note: I am using the image to show what it's appearance (colors and markings) will look like]Light Freedom armor [/abbr]
[sub]Marius brought it with his savings and last paycheck from C-Sec before he left the Citadel. Using this light armor had its advantages and disadvantages. For instance, it didn't offer much protection compared to medium and heavy armor types. Yet, it allowed him to move quicker towards his destination while his shields were capable enough to keep him safe. The aesthetic look of the armor took weeks to achieve, especially the engravings. He used a mixture of real and fake gold to make it absolutely different for the other armors. Also, his helmet was linked to his omni-tool and contained the same "golden" engravings as the armor.[/sub]

[sub]A B I L I T I E S [/sub]

Flamethrower Flashbang Grenade Overload Shredder Ammo
[sub]PSYCH PROFILE[/sub] [sub]T R A I T S [/sub]

Positive
Independent Loyal Observant
Negative
Anxious Flamboyant Unrest

[sub]V I C E S[/sub]

Drugs
[sub]During the first few months as a mercenary, Marius' anxiety and fears started to overwhelm him until he found comfort in drugs. At first, the classic marijuana helped him calm down. Then, he fell in love with party drugs like Hallex; yet, he stayed far away from red sand. And finally, alcohol was something that he rarely drank and only did it socially. Marius didn't do drugs whenever he accepted work or his skills as an engineer were required. He viewed them as his source of comfort instead of sharing thoughts and feelings with therapists. But, it turned into a full-blown addiction to party drugs (like Hallex).[/sub]
Films and TV Shows
[sub]There was so much one person could do in Omega besides going to nightclubs and having one-night stands. For Marius, he did drugs and watched the latest shows and movies. That was why he brought his flat screen television to the Achilles. It allowed him to watch something while high. And he also managed to have a collection of old movies and tv shows from the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century. If someone ever suggested a movie night, he was more than willing to provide the movie and the observation deck. Plus, Marius also watched boxing and soccer on the side.[/sub]
Games
[sub]For some odd reason, Marius fell in love with those Kepesh-Yakshi & Relay Defense while on the Citadel. He spent lots of credits to play them for hours until Quintis physically dragged him out of the arcade. He wasn't the best player, but he was pretty decent. However, once he left for Omega, Marius didn't have enough time to play them and eventually forgot about them. That didn't mean that he wouldn't freak out when he saw one of those games. Meanwhile, Marius downloaded Alliance Corsair onto his omni-tool that he played often. And he also was willing to play traditional chess and tabletop games.[/sub]
Hookups
[sub]Marius' other significant guilty pleasure was one-night stands. Typically, it happened once he finished with work and only did it with men. He either went to their place or invited them over to his small apartment unit. Just like drugs, he found some comfort with them even if it was meaningless; however, it didn't mean he wanted a relationship. Now that Marius was going to be aboard a ship with other people, he knew that these hookups weren't going to be acceptable. It was when he made a vow to limiting and even stopping hookups, but it wasn't going to be easy.[/sub]

[sub]H A U N T[/sub]

Observation Deck
[sub]Even know the Achilles was a small vessel, it had a small observation deck perfect for Marius. The window had a large shutter, which was made out of the same material as the ship, capable of withstanding blasts towards it. Besides the window, there was a round table with comfortable chairs and a large flat screen television. Initially, it was supposed to provide relaxation and relief for crewmembers until Marius arrived. Whenever he was on board, Marius spent his time on the extranet, sketching, tinkering with his leg, or smoking something. However, if someone wanted time alone in the deck or joined him, he respected their request and left towards a different part of the ship. As for the workshop, there wasn't much of Marius' stuff besides a small cactus to lighten up the room.[/sub]

[sub]D R I V E[/sub]

Marius lost the only family member that he had left because of hatred. He lost the two people that he had ever fallen in love with due to circumstances. The things that kept him going through life were drugs, sex, and combat. Being a part of the Alliance gave him the adrenaline rush that helped him through a rough part of his life. Even being part of Torfan was one of the most exciting moments in his life despite how deadly it was. He attempted retirement at the Citadel but realized that he missed that rush. C-Sec didn't satisfy him at all. It wasn't until he became a mercenary that the rush came back to him. Drugs and having one-night stands helped him contain that need. But, Marius knew that those things weren't healthy at all. He was afraid of his past coming back to haunt him, fearful of being unable to achieve everlasting love, and petrified of being lost forever. And he thought that it was irreparable.
