The first two shriveled bodies fell from his grasp onto the driveway. He made it three steps closer to the woman before he had both fists full again. The animals pawed at him, claws tearing at his legs and side. He screamed and one of the wolves escaped from his grip. It was not so eager to approach him again, it lay down snarling, saving it's energy. He worked his way closer and closer to the human taking out one wolf after another. At last it was the one snarling wolf staring down Andrew who stood between it and it's prey. Andrew charged but the wolf leapt tearing into his shoulder. Andrew hugged it to him burying both hands into it's coat and it quickly fell lifeless at his feet. Andrew pulled the gloves over his fingers. He had more energy than he'd had in days. It was a good thing too because he needed to move the human inside. Unlocking the front door he took a coat from the closet and wrapped it around her. Andrew lifted her up in his arms and carried her inside to the parlor sofa. Where had he carried that chain off to?
