Choices made by Lord Walder Frey during the War of the Five Kings drove the reputation to the house to ruin (more so with their blatant oath breaking of the guest right), however, as short-lived gains were outweigh by a gradual and long-term decline of both status and numbers. House Frey only seemed to manage to endure the blows due to the bloated numbers of its ruling family, however the winds of change are afoot, and time will tell whether the house will recover or be consigned to oblivion. Their last Lord, Lord Stevron "the Daylight Lantern" Frey, was a bumbling oaf who had the same aspirations as the much maligned "Old" Lord Walder Frey some time years ago, but none the wit. Nevertheless he tried to rule the house with an iron fist and take several wives. This backfired when his eldest son, Walder, went against his father wishes and joined the Stepstones Campaign to defend the Kingdom against the rebellious lords. Their sentence was exile in Essos, but that sentence was revoked a couple of years ago, when the ailing Lord Stevron found much to his chagrin that none of his crotchspawn could hold a candle to Walder, and begrudgingly, restored their rights and titles. It would be the last act of said lord, before Lord Walder succeeded him as head of the house.
Realm Relations
TBD, but I guess everyone hates them more or less.
Storyline Premise
The Freys are still in a deep crisis. But when there's a crisis there's always opportunities. It's a tale of reinveinting oneself to keep up with the major players of the game of thrones.

Character Information

Identity
Lord Walder Frey
Age
30
Role
Lord of the Crossing, Walder the Wight, The Cripple of the Crossing, Ser Walder the White
Characterization
Lord Walder sports the same chinless, frail and gaunt look of most Freys, and struggles to keep a salt-and-pepper beard to give a more amenable shape to his face. He is missing his left leg under his knee, and has to wear a prosthetic as a result, thus limiting his mobility. Walder was once a shining example of the rare honorable Frey long time ago, however being born under very unfavourable conditions and being dismissed for opposing his late father's misguided and foolish ways turned him into a bitter shell of the man that once was. The same man who would later bring him back to rule the house from his Essosi exile, all too late to have avoided Walder's loss of his knightly ability. However, with loss, other gains were made. Walder came to unearth unknown talents in the far land, talents that were diametrically opposed to the westerosi knightly horse-play. His views became stained as a result, and only trusts words and people as far as he can throw them, with only some notable exceptions. Unlike some infamous lords of the Frey, Walder the Wight strives to be polite and keeps an even temper, even if he feels very distant at times. A pensive man, he only socializes the bare minimum, instead preferring to lock himself up in libraries to make plans or do administration. This mask falls apart in the presence of his beloved wife and his best friend, and he likes to regal them with a streak of grim, dark humour. Unsurprisingly, he keeps some closeness to the Tully's, sometimes lending his world-wisdom to the cause of governing the riverlands. His advice is often blunt, but straightforward and honest.
Attributes & Talents
Walder Frey is a man who has survived the harshness of the world, stripping away what little talent had in swordplay. As such he is more of a armchair lord and scholar than a warrior these days, but one with a brutal insight and world wisdom. Walder knows all there is to be about different politic systems, economy, intrigues, and different cultures and tactics. He speaks several languages, albeit heavily accented, including High Valyrian and Dothraki. Having lost his swordsmanship, he instead turned to the more intellectual aspects of ruling, and eventually became a close aide to a Lyseni magister, raising above the world of cloak, dagger and poison that lurked beneath the fascination and exoticism of the free cities. A lysene with beatiful silver-golden hair, a generous bosom and haunting purple eyes, lady Vaena draws sights and sympathies as one of the fairest of the riverlands, or even the kingdom. She walks with natural flowing grace, and her words are soft and decorated with a Lyseni twang. More than often, she wears a veil and a coif to protect her hair from the damp climate of the riverlands. Vaena is the current face of House Frey, making up with her social abilities and beauty what Walder lacks. Vaena is cordial, but often keeps things to herself in an attempt to cultivate her exotic mysterious appearance. She prefers to speak Valyrian dialects than the common tongue, only resorting to speaking in said language for strangers and formalities. She tends to keep her past in Lys as secret, as it was a great shame to have fallen from moderatedly wealthy noble to become a pillow slave only for Lord Walder to buy her freedom. Ironically, this left her a rather rigorous training in entertainament, singing and playing the harp as well as the Lysene specialities... love and poison. Vaena also has a keen eye for finances, and she has a good grasp of mercantile movements and management. Despite seeming so apart in terms of personality and outlook, and despite rumours of indiscretions, it is no secret that Vaena greatly loves her husband and only son and does not take kindly slights perceived against them.
Attributes & Talents
Describe said character's abilities and skills. Vaena was raised as a Lyseni noblewoman, and as such, she is a great entertaining host and good manager, and an acceptable leader should her husband be unable to tend to the House's needs. Vaena's native tongue is Lyseni Valyrian, and as such she shows quite the proficiency in all Valyrian dialects. Vaena has also a keen mind when it comes to money, and never wastes an opportunity to make business or negotiate for prices. Her natural beauty and singing voice allow her to do breathtaking performances. Last but not least, she is an adept healer and a master poisoner, able to kill or soothe men as she wills to. A cascade of curly white hair descends all the way to his ear, and white stubble can be seen poking in his square jaw. He has green eyes, inheriting both from his grandmother Genna Lannister as well as her mother, Cersei Lannett. He walks with ponderous steps, and his body has scars from dozens of battles. He prefers to wear armor over other clothes, and his favoured set is well maintaned but worn, with scrapes and small dents from years of being in the roads. Jaime Frey was born in a very diminished House Frey, far removed from the main line. Being the son of Red Walder Frey, who had been spent quite a bit of his early life at Casterly Rock, and Cersei Lannett, a Lannisport noble, he always stood one head taller than most of his relatives and lacked the typical Frey look. He remembered the late lord Perwyn with warmth, stating he was a good man, but always sad. Perwyn also arranged for Jaime to become a page and later a squire at Riverrun, spotting the young man's talent in swordsmanship. Being trained around the same time as Axel Tully, it was hard to stay in the Tully's champion shadow, but he persevered. He even managed to get a healthy competitive spirit among the two, essentially a chain of achievements that made eachother push the other to overcome their limits. Yet Jaime knew that in the end, Axel would overtake him, being from a house of a Lord Paramount without a stain on their honour. Both were knighted around the same time, and Jaime left Riverrun with a smile, knowing that little by little he was erasing the stain of House Frey. He wasn't welcomed back. The atmosphere had changed upon his return, Lord Perwyn giving way to the oaf of Lord Stevron, who fashioned himself as the lord Walder of old, and commited many excesses and foolish actions. Jaime tried to rein in the impulses of his lord, but it was to no avail and left the house before being tempted to smash his face with a flanged mace. It is unknown what was the straw that broke the horse's back then, but there are rumours that Stevron got drunk and deflowered Jaime's beloved before he could marry her, but he eventually left House Frey one night and never came back. Ever since then, he has forsaken his name, and has gone by ser Pate of the Bridge, changing his high birth for the hedges of the road. He tries to keep his actions as close as the ideals of a true knight and then some. He also does not like to stand out, leaving as soon as the deeds are done and rewards were received. He also participates in tournaments, but usually gives way to more important figures and houses to not stand out too much. He, however, was the person who enabled the future Lord Walder to join the Stepstones campaign, by spiriting him away in a barge. He also joined, if only to help his old comrade Axel from the sidelines seeing as he had become a member of the Queensguard. Upon receiving the news of Lord Walder's exile, Jaime revealed himself to the young heir, and claimed that he would march on the Twins to right this wrong. Walder declined the offer, stating that it'd be too much of a blow to the Frey's reputation and would risk becoming a kinslayer. His return seems to have marked an end to his hedge knight career as Ser Pate, and the start of his tenure as Ser Jaime.
Attributes & Talents
Jaime Frey's physical attributes are heavily influenced by the amount of Westerlander blood in him. He is a hardy man, and one who can earn many things with his sword arm. An experienced knight, one of the oldest active ones in fact, his talent could be considered worthy of the white, if only his name wasn't Jaime or Frey. Having lived many years on the road and sleeping in the hedges, he has learn how to forage and hunt acceptably. He is a decent fisherman and a good swimmer, rivers being the most available form of bath for most years of his life. He is perhaps unsuited as a ruler, but he has some talent leading men in a battlefield, and specially inspiring them with his straightforward disposition. His great secret talent, that only very few know, is the fact he does not possess one but two sword arms, as he's ambidextrous, which gives him an edge against experienced opponents who try to read the flow of his attacks, as he can switch his sword arm mid-fight. His daily training, however, takes twice as much because of this reason. He can also dual wield, but he considers it impractical with most knightly weapons at best, and showing off at worst.
