♦ Age: 25. Important to note that they haven’t physically aged since gaining their powers. ♦ Loyalty: Independent. Very curious of the various groups and factions in Samekh, regardless of whether they are considered evil or good. Because of this, Enki will strive to meet and possibly get introduced to all the major groups before picking a side. ♦ Appearance: Enki’s appearance was to a large part affected by their trigger. While they don’t have any obvious physical abnormalities (at least on the offset), their looks are somewhere in between that of a man and that of a woman, though the prevalence of feminine traits leads to almost all people identifying Enki as female. In truth, the events preceding and proceeding Enki’s trigger has left them physically androgynous. Enki has a soft and pale complexion, long ashen hair that reaches to their back. Their facial features are also typical to that of what would be considered conventionally attractive, having clear and smooth skin, a small chin and nose, narrow jaw and high cheekbones. Their voice, however, is neutral in tone, with a cadence that’s neither overly male nor female. On the other hand, Enki’s hands and feet are strangely rough, and they are rather tall, standing at about 190 centimetres. Costume: Due to Enki’s dislike of clothing in general, they sport a loose-fitting garment somewhere between a toga and a tunic, with accompanying pants. Enki walks barefoot, though their power keeps them from getting dirty or injured because of it. This (and another of their power’s side effects) helps keep Enki clean even without bathing. From what little Enki can gather, his life was simple, but fulfilling nonetheless. “It was a life lived in relative peace. It was nothing special, but I believe he was happy to be with his loved ones. His home was hot, and beset by sand and minor conflicts on all sides. His home disappeared when Zion came, but the war didn’t. No, that only seemed to get worse. ” When the Warrior came, there was little the boy could do. He watched as his loved ones and his home were obliterated within moments. He thought himself lucky not to have perished along with most of the others, but his thoughts on the matter soon changed. Connection to the outside world was lost, and people had become desperate. The small skirmishes that occasionally broke out had snowballed into war, and somewhere along in the chaos, he found himself, along with dozens of others forced to fight. He was no fighter, though, and it wasn’t long until he found himself dying. The moments preceding it were especially blurry: a mix of shouting, explosions, the sound of a building crumbling and distant gunfire. He hadn’t quite died, but with his body ravaged as it was, there was little he could do but agonise and wait for true death to set him free. It was then that a connection was made. However, it was too little too late, and as the boy was being crushed and burned further and further each second, the shard made a decision. “It adapted.” The boy’s body was little more than scrap by now, so it drew on nearby points of reference. Men or women, it didn’t discriminate. Some functions would be lost in the process, but the shard deemed these unimportant. Of course, any and all liabilities were taken care of. Its internal structure (with the exception of its brain, of course) could be changed as long as its externals remained the same, so it became more streamlined. A simple core in the centre of the body to replace most other organs, with a hard shell to protect the single weak spot. Its brain was mostly gone as well, so that needed replacing, too. Of course, the earlier references were useful here as well. The Corona Pollentia had remained intact, so it simply spread and grew to replace the 70% that was gone. The body was still frail and weak, however, so it needed a way to protect itself in situations of danger. The body was made variable, and the core would serve as a veritable engine to increase the body’s capabilities. But there was still trouble. The brain had been reconstructed, but the data lost was no irrecoverable. The data in this one was unique to it, so it couldn’t simply base it off of others of its species… The shard waited. Its work up until now had been rapid; it would have been embarrassing to lose its host in a moment of indecisiveness. But now it had time, so it waited. It observed. This last matter was no small issue, and it wouldn’t settle for a rush job. However, as the shard waited and observed the happenings around it, the world changed. At some point, Zion had died, and the world had died with it, though that was no issue; there were myriad others just like it, after all. After a while, the shard realised that there was no true solution to its problem, and so it did the only thing it could. “It settled.” There was no other course of action to take besides settle. A vacant mind wasn’t ideal, but there was potential there. And then, finally, after what felt like ages, its host was finally allowed to wake. They wandered, roaming the desolate landscape endlessly, with no reason or rhyme. They knew some things, of course. They knew of the shards, and of the entities, and of humans as well, though their knowledge on the latter was lacking. As they wandered, they found remnants of the humans that had lived here. They donned clothing, ate food (none of it tasted good, for some reason). Their greatest discovery, however, was the library. There, they spent months reading and learning about the world of humans in as many books as they could find. Of course, a lot of the books were no longer usable, but it was still quite the find. After all, it was in these texts and stories that they’d found their name. “Enki… yes, Enki. I like this name.” During their travels, Enki learned how to use their powers in various ways, be it for travel, or for defending themselves. As time passed, Enki learned more and more about the world and of its inhabitants. Eventually, they found other places where humans still congregated, though those were few and far between after Gold Morning. Enki’s journey eventually lead them to discover a portal to a different world. The promise of a human civilisation similar to what they’d read about previously was intriguing to say the least, and so, after much time, Enki found themselves on the other side. Who knows what this new world will bring?

[sub][ ♦ ] Personality[/sub]

Enki carries themselves with dignity and grace, speaking to most in a calm and respectful manner. Even those who insult them, will only see a look of rejection or a calm rebuke. Enki will help those who ask for it, though this is more out of curiosity than any innate good will. Despite this, Enki refuses to kill others in vain, though their inexperience with people can lead to them to being brutally ruthless in battle. Although Enki is generally strong-willed, their inexperience with people and the world often leads them to be naïve in trusting others. Moreover, powers that rely on manipulating the mind will probably prove very effective when used against Enki, though this will vary depending on the power.. Enki also strives to find purpose and meaning in their lives, and their openness in discovering and learning about new things is in large part motivated by said desire. ♦ Motivation: Most of all, Enki is curious. The world is a new place, and so are they, which means they’re a blank slate of sorts. This means that they’ll be shaped by the events that occur and the people that they meet. Whether this is for the better or for worse, remains to be seen. More than any of that, however, Enki is driven by a need to find purpose and meaning in their life, in addition to understanding the nature of their existence. ♦ Derangement: At the moment, Enki is kind in nature, and won’t resort to violence, approaching most situations diplomatically and with great caution. This is mainly due to their experience. However, Enki’s connection with their shard is a strong one, and due to their nature as a blank slate, they might very easily change to become more aggressive. Although, as stated earlier, that all depends on the events that are to transpire, and the people that he’ll meet.

[sub][ ♦ ] Parahumanism[/sub]

♦ Skills: Has a photographic memory due to how their brain was rewired during their trigger. Unnaturally good with animals. Fast learner, partially due to aforementioned photographic memory. ♦ Classification: Brute | Thinker ♦ Mechanics: The core of Enki’s power is… well, their core. Enki’s core acts not only as the centrepiece in their power, but also their whole body. Most of the organs that would normally be found in one’s torso have had their functions taken over by Enki’s core, which can be found around where the bronchial tubes usually meet. The carapace-like shell surrounding Enki’s core is thick and dense, and gets progressively tougher as Enki uses their power. If Enki’s core were to ever be broken, it would result in their immediate death. Enki’s power is, generally speaking, fairly simple: an exponential and continuous increase in most of their physical attributes by “ramping up”. This includes things like sight, strength, toughness, sense of smell, rate of healing, etc. As mentioned previously, this process relies on Enki’s core, and is also limited and controlled by said core. Although there is no hard limit to how much Enki can ramp up, heat is the biggest soft limiter. As Enki ramps up, their core generates heat. The faster Enki ramps up, the more heat is generated and vice versa. If Enki chooses to slow down the rate at which they ramp up, then heat is generated that much slower, and pausing or reducing how much they’ve ramped will begin cooling down Enki’s core. This opens several methods of approach when fighting. For weaker foes, ramping up and cooling down quickly is often ideal, while ramping up, pausing to cool, then ramping up again several times leads to an overall higher increase and a better chance at dealing with tougher, more resilient foes. Heat produced internally isn’t, however, the only threat to Enki. Operating in warmer climates as opposed to cold ones will have a mild effect on Enki’s efficiency, though Enki’s true weakness is in heat-based powers and weaponry. Examples include pyrokinetics or tinkers with laser weaponry. Enki shouldn’t be able to die from overuse of their own power, as they’d likely fall unconscious or become immobilised long before they died from overheating, though being overheated by someone else is an entirely different matter. Whilst using their powers, Enki can be seen emanating steam from their skin and sweating in an effort to reduce heat. If Enki ramps up enough, the glow of their core might be visible through their chest. Ramp timing: 50 seconds to ramp will result in Enki being strong enough to lift most cars and being able to shrug off most small caliber weaponry. Enki can continue to ramp after this comfortably for a little while longer, though a pause to cool down will eventually be needed. Ramping up faster will take roughly half the time, but produces way more heat. Enki would need several long minutes to cool down before being able to ramp up again if he chose to do so. Diminishing returns: the more Enki ramps up the less efficient ramping gets. This is true both in how strong they get, and in how much heat is generated and lost. Rest: Enki can only stay ramped for about six hours at a time during a day. This is what stops him from ramping up infinitely. If Enki does reach the six-hour mark, they’ll need to stop to rest and recuperate. Side notes: When Enki heals using their power, there body is reverted to a state consistent with after their trigger. This has effectively stopped them from aging. The full list of attributes that are ‘boosted’ when Enki uses their power is as follows: strength, durability, sight, sense of smell and hearing, mass, reflexes and reaction time. ♦ Equipment: Enki carries around a notebook and pen, as well as a portable Encyclopedia. The former is for simple note-taking, while the latter is for identifying objects they've never seen before.
ITEM: ITEM:
