Civilian Appearance: Custos most often wears black turtlenecks and dark-colored pants in his private life, preferring the dark colors to help him slip into the shadows if need be. He often refers to his turtlenecks as 'Tacticlenecks'. Icon:

Costumed Personality: Kraken is a dichotomy of personalities. On a stealth mission, when secrecy if of the utmost importance, he is nothing short of a stoic professional. His years of training and field experience have made him excellent at efficiency, in communication, energy, movement, and anything else required. Of course, that experience has also taught him that sometimes things go wrong, and he has learned to go with the flow when the plan falls to pieces. In more chaotic situations, a different side of Kraken emerges. This one is loud and in charge, attempting to end thins via de-escalation and nonviolence if possible. However he is ready to fight at a moments notice if he believes the situation to be unsalvageable. Civilian Personality: If one word were to be used to describe Custos, it would be "Bombastic". He is loud and friendly, personable and charming. He is always eager to make friends with anyone in the room, and is quick with a story or trick if asked for one. That being said, he knows when to step to the side, his spy training giving him a sense of when to be loud and distracting, and when to let others take the stage. Super abilities: -Skills: --Peak Human Swimmer: Custos is the best swimmer the Earth has ever seen --Expert Espionage Agent: Custos has been trained from birth to be an incredible spy, able to bypass security, talk his way past guards, and bring enemies of Atlantis to justice. --Trained Combatant: Custos has been trained to be a warrior, ready to hold his own if the worst happens. --Trained Tactician: Since he was old enough to understand battlefield theory, Custos has been learning the Art of War --Vocal Mimicry: Custos has trained himself to mimic the voices of others, within reason. He can approximate the voice of someone he has heard in the past, with the more vocal examples he has leading to a better impression. -Powers: --Peak Amphibious Atlantean: Though all Atlanteans have the ability to survive in both air and water, Custos has perfected the ability, able to leave the sea for periods of up to two weeks before needing to return to a body of water. --Enhanced senses: All of Custos's senses have evolved to a higher degree than the average human's, granting him superior eyesight, hearing, and smell. --Superhuman strength: Due to both his adaptations to underwater life and the uncontrolled magic in his blood, Custos is capable of superhuman feats of strength. At current, he can easily lift and throw a tank or an airliner, though his upper limit has not been found yet. --Superhuman endurance: Due to both his adaptations to underwater life and the uncontrolled magic in his blood, Custos is much more durable than any other normal human. He can shrug off blows that would have obliterated a normal man, run incredibly fast for a much longer time than normal, and react to situations with a speed that even a cat would be jealous of. --Limited Marine Telepathy: Though not as strong as the former King of Atlantis's, Custos has the ability to command sea life. It requires some concentration from him to perform this ability, as well as the limitation the he must be able to see the creature. --Mental Resistance: Due to his espionage training, Custos has developed keen mental resistances to avoid giving up sensitive information. This extends to tradition forms of torture, psychological manipulation, and most forms of basic mind control. A powerful telepath would likely be able to get through his defenses, but it would take more effort than usual and Custos would likely detect the intrustion into his mind. --Water-Based Magic: Thanks to the magic flowing through his blood, Custos is able to control water around him. This type of magic is instinctual to him, and takes little effort. It would be possible for him ot learn more magic, but it would take many hours of study and he would likely never master it. -Gadgets: --Cuttlefish suit: Built from the designs of ancient Atlantean stealth technology, the Cuttlefish armor is built for near-total invisibility. Form-fitting armor plates are made of lightweight psycho-responsive metal, allowing the wearer to shift the color and texture of the armor at a though. In the hands of a creative user, this allows them to blend into nearly any environment with a moments notice. --Camouflage Disk: The suit is capable of ejecting a disk that, when activated, projects an camouflaged and noise-suppressed area about 15 feet in diameter. Though not as perfect as the stealth abilities of the suit, it is useful for hiding a small group of people or supplies. -Weapons: --Water pack: The Cuttlefish suit has a reserve of water hidden throughout its design, allowing Custos to tap into and use a supply of water for his magical attacks even when separated from a large body of water. --Flashbang Disk: The suit is capable of ejecting a small disk that emits bright flashes of color and loud noises to disorient foes. --'Ink' Disk: The suit is capable of ejecting a disk that dampens light and noise inside of its area of effect, effectively creating a zone of darkness and muted noise. Civilian Occupation: Part-Time Fisherman. Biography--------- Character History/Origin: Custos was born to an Atlantean breeding program, attempting to create Peak Atlanteans. He was tested and found to have high levels of natural Atlantean resistances, as well as great potential for innate magic. One of only a handful of children with these abilities, he was chosen to receive lifelong training to become a special agent of the Atlantean military. Through long and grueling days, weeks, months, and years, Custos and the others were trained to become perfect diplomats, spies, soldiers, mages, and whatever else the military might one day need. At the age of 18, the group was officially entered into service, under the code name 'Argonauts'. The team quickly proved themselves, taking on dangerous and multi-faceted missions as if they had been born for them; which they had been. The Argonauts were sent of many more missions, escalating in complexity and danger as the Old King Cerritus began to grow more and more paranoid, seeing enemies in every flickering shadow. The Argonauts were eventually taken out of the military hierarchy and placed under the direct command of the King, told to do his bidding and defend his crown no matter the cost. However upon completion of a particularly divisive mission, which saw the Argonauts as the scapegoats of a convoluted triple-bluff in order to justify the declaration of martial law in Tritonis, the team began to have their doubts. Risking their security, their history, and their very lives, the Argonauts, led by Custos, were part of a coup against the paranoid king, deposing him and placing in his stead the young prince Orin. The idealistic young prince was not seen as the ideal choice by many people, but was considered a compromise among the Argonauts between the tyrannical reign of his father, and total anarchy and potential collapse of their secretive world. Vowing among themselves to help raise the young prince, the Argonauts began what they hoped would be a brighter future for all Atlantis. For a time, it seemed, their plan worked, As Orin grew, his idealistic nature seemed to infect the population of the capital city of Posiedonis. His wild ideas for the nation, its people, and the seas beyond more often than not seemed to work, to the surprise of everyone involved. Atlantis truly seemed to be entering a Golden Age, and perhaps would have stayed on track, were it not for the Two Month War. King Orin, long laboring under the desire to reveal his undersea nation to the rest of the world, sent Custos to the surface to help the other Wonders with their war effort. He was instructed to reveal the existence of Atlantis in the aftermath of the war, and offer aid and services from the blossoming nation to any who needed it. The world at large was shocked by this revelation. The people of Atlantis were divided. Some, mostly the population of Posiedonis, supported the young king, eager to reach out to the surface world. Others were afraid of the surface dweller, or simply too greedy tow ant to share the wealth of their nation with the suffering countries above. The rising tension in the world at large, and the undersea kingdom in specific finally boiled over some months later. A group of religious extremists from Tritonis, led by the very fiancee of the king, took control of the capitol. In a series of well-coordinated attacks, they killed or took custody of the entire Kings Council, several members of the Argonauts, and possibly even King Orin. Custos was able to escape by the skin of his teeth, stealing his stealth suit and leading a small contingent of loyal citizens to the relative safety of the surface world. Since then, Custos has been attempting to gather information about the now-isolationist Atlantis, looking for clues, rumors, anything that could possibly give him an edge over the tyrannical power structure in place, and hoping against hope that King Orin is alive somewhere.
