While his friends and classmates see him as kind and charismatic—quite literally the class president—his outward image belies impatience, struggle, and desire for meaning on the inside, as well as a propensity to cling on to something, anything, that will give him that feeling of significance.

Kei's family is new to Emerald City. Working class, the family of three is in need but unwilling to take handouts, and led by a father who's hard outlook on life is matched only by his hard hand, and a mother who is cold and perfectly suited for building a son who would excel in everything, and lead their family to something better.

Kei has been the "perfect son," and quickly gained friends and support from the community as someone reliable, talented, and diligent. But witnessing increasing frustrations in town and not being able to find a real place in this community—an outsider from all aspects—leads him to search for meaning, a way to be authentic, a real leader. It's unfortunate, though, that integrity is one thing was rarely taught him, and another sadness that the recent murder involved someone with whom he had a complex relationship...[/center][/hider]
