She keeps her long dark hair in a braid or ponytail, as it tangles easily if left loose. She dresses in bright, cheery colours (not always ones that match) and often has some kind of eye-catching accessory (again, not necessarily one that goes with her outfit). Buttons, badges, wacky jewellery and hairpins from craft fairs, you name it. On her upper back is a tattoo of her own design; a paintbrush with streaks of colour spreading out on either side of the tip, like the feathers of angel wings.[/indent][/indent]

For some, this means she's fun to be around, while others find her downright annoying, not that it'll stop her antics. Acting on impulse rather than logic, she tends to act and speak without thinking, landing herself in trouble. Putting up an air of confidence, though, she always bounces back, or at least pretends to.

Her carefree facade is something she applies like paint to dull canvas, or to a brittle clay figurine. It hides her damaged self-esteem from her mother's demands, her fears of ending up like her father, her worries for friends unaware of the Greyspace, the toll her responsibility as a Crown takes on her. Nonetheless, she always does the best she can, as digging deeper under that vivacious front will reveal a kind, warm idealist who goes out of her way to make the world a brighter and better place.[/indent][/indent][/indent]

[indent][indent][indent]Calliope cherishes her earliest memories of her father. As an illustrator, he was a highly imaginative individual, fuelling his daughter's creativity from a young age. The two would spend entire days walking through woodlands or along the seafront, as he told her countless stories about mythical creatures supposedly inhabiting these areas. Her mother found such stories and games a waste of time, but neither Cal nor her father cared.

The magic of childhood, however, faded as he grew distant over time. He became engrossed in his work, neglecting family, friends and his own health. It was this way that the once innocent Cal came to know what drink and substance abuse were, with it happening in her own home. While out of it, her dad would sometimes mention hearing a strange song. He resorted to any means necessary to experience this otherworldly influence. It was this lack of care for himself that led to his early death.

The last of the wonder disappeared from Cal's life along with him. Her already strict mother kept her under an even tighter rein, claiming it dangerous to get lost in a fantasy world, wary of the slightest foray into fancy. Determined to raise a practical-minded, straight-laced student, she put twice as much pressure on her to succeed in school. Sadly, no matter how she tried, it turned out Cal wasn't academic. Her strength lay in her creative skill, which her mother frowned upon. Many times, she'd verbally lash out at her daughter, saying outright that she'd end up as a self-absorbed drunken head case like her dad.

Cal found refuge in her friends, who encouraged her to resume and pursue her passions no matter what anyone else thought. It took a while, and made the home situation worse, but by the time she was old enough to live away from home, it no longer mattered. She got a job in a cafe, funding short courses in graphic design. On the side, she'd paint, as well as make clay sculptures that she'd sell online and at craft fairs. By now, she had a solid circle of friends who supported her, but before long, she noticed some of them show all too familiar signs of madness.

Some people put the sole blame on drugs, but the truth was even worse. When the odd whisper lured Cal into a warped, empty version of the city, and a diamond-like crown appeared before her, she thought she'd lost her mind too. It was when she learned from other Crowns about the nature of the Greyspace, and the creatures inhabiting it, that she found out what had happened to her dad all those years ago, and what was now happening to the people around her. Since then, she's been giving her all to stop them, or anyone else, from meeting that same fate.[/indent][/indent][/indent]

[indent][indent]Broad in scope as expected of human imagination, what Cal's magic lacks in defense, it makes up for in versatility. Her support effects can make her a valuable ally, as long as she teams up with someone who can tank hits.

Her weapon resembles a six-foot crystalline paintbrush, which can be used for blunt strikes as well as to channel magic. The paintbrush glows various colours depending on the magic she uses.[/indent][/indent]

[*] [color=#73C7CE]FLIGHT OF FANCY:[/color] Cal grips the neck of her paintbrush and presses the tip to the tattoo on her upper back. A pair of birdlike wings grow from between her shoulder blades, flowing like liquid. While she can reach impressive flight speed, the wings are easily damaged. Not only does this cause her pain, which translates to the corresponding area on her back as soon as the appendages disappear, it puts her at risk of a serious fall. Also, while this technique is in effect, it slowly drains her magical energy.

[*] [color=#73C7CE]CRAFTED COMPANIONS:[/color] She can imbue some of the clay figurines she crafts and paints with magic - namely, dragons and fairies, as they are her speciality. These sculptures must be under one foot in height and width. If she does so, she can summon them in battle as miniature creatures that assist her in battle. While not sentient, they will obey her commands.
The dragons breathe jets of fire, whereas the fairies can provide small boosts to a person's magical energy as long as they remain summoned, and each fairy can only buff one individual at a time. The companions' moves drain Cal's own reserves.
Although the creatures are helpful to have around, they can't take much damage. Usually, one hit is all it takes to reduce them to a pile of clay fragments. Up to five companions can be imbued with magic and summoned at once.

[*] [color=#73C7CE]SPLASH OF COLOUR:[/color] Cal's strongest but most taxing move. Her paintbrush glows a myriad of colours as she channels energy into it, which is unleashed upon contact with an Elegy. As well as dealing significant damage, it leaves a luminous mark on the monster that slowly weakens it further until it fades after about twenty seconds. By default, the mark is a blob, although Cal can choose the shape. Doing so provides no extra effect besides a cosmetic one, but why not brighten the atmosphere by painting hearts, flowers, silly faces etc on her enemies?

[*] [color=#73C7CE]GLAMOUR:[/color] Alters the appearance of one person or object of Cal's choosing. By doing this, she can confuse foes by making an ally look like someone else, or disguising one of her summoned creatures as a different type. [indent][indent][indent]As the Crown of Imagination, Cal's hair and eyes turn brilliant blue. Her crown is an actual crown, which floats above her head and resembles lines of shimmering gold paint more than a physical object. Her outfit, while not providing much defense, is light and easy to move around in.[/indent][/indent][/indent]
