"A Million miles from home, nay, a million universes from home, with no way back. Might as well make the most of it, again. Hopefully no one I know is here..." ========= Superhero/villain Name: Unknown Civilian Name: None currently, but given Serene is her real name, that works. Origin city/Planet: Irrelevant, mainly because it went poof after someone stripmined it. But it was a version of Earth, if that helps. Hometown: Derelict Space Ship Sex: Female Race: Draconic Hybrid Height: 5 foot 11 Inches(Unarmored) ???(Armored) Weight: 150 Pounds, she has dense bones Age: Unknown, appears in their twenties Birth Date: June 16th, Year 31(Adonian Calender) -------- Costumed Appearance: Black and red suit of armor that would be totally fitting if this was a Metroid convention. But kinda unwieldy due to its weight. Still, looks great, and has a polarizing visor. Skinsuit underneath is likewise black and red, this isn’t a phase mom, its just tactical. Civilian Appearance: Black hair with red highlights that goes down to her shoulders, it should be clear she isn’t normal from the outset. Factor in her heterochomic iridum that manifests as a yellow left eye and a green right eye, and yeah, not normal. Her teeth are slightly sharper than normal, her ears are less rounded than a normal human being, her fingers can shift into talons, and did I mention her ability to manifest horns and a pair of nice looking wings? All that aside that marks her as a dragon in human form, she tends to just wear whatever she wants. Default clothing is her body suit, but that tends to unnerve people for a number of reasons, so she tends to wear loose fitting shirts or jeans. Don’t stare, she might have a nice figure, but that’s your ass on the line that’s getting kicked. Or a stylized image of her face akin to that Eggmanland Flag from Unleashed Costumed Personality: Even more cold and distant than normal, Serene as her “alter ego” is very soldier esque in her approach, focusing on mission objectives, and seeking to ensure the best possible results with the best suitable efforts. Despite the whole hard-ass approach, she still has that soft spot for children and stray animals. Civilian Personality: She can come across as cold and distant, in part due to a fear of forming bonds that won’t matter when/if she finds a way home, or the fact she may outlive most of her comrades, and thus fears bonds that will crumble when others die. But if you can get her to warm up, or give her something to talk about, it becomes quickly apparent that she’s friendly, cheerful, outgoing, if probably an act due to the sheer supply of comfort food in her ship that borders on the extremely unhealthy. She’s also really cruel in video games, she is merciless. “True” Personality: Relatively unchanged, actually a lot like her “costumed” self. If not worse because “I want to turn back before I die” type deal. Super abilities: -Skills: Computer Programming, Mechanical Knowhow, basic cooking, multilingualism(English, German, Japanese, Draconian(Think Icelandic but weirder), Binary, possibly other tongues), biology, basic medicine, extensive physics knowledge, extensive knowledge of chemistry. -Powers: Blood of the Forest: Powerful, ancient arcane energy that hums through the bodies of every living thing, the energy known simply as “Rune” is a potent fuel for magic, and while most would never be able to reach immense heights of prowese, it is enough for a day to day. Most lifeforms are those merely exposed, but those born of the energy hailing from the reality known as the Forest can channel it much more naturally, and thus more effectively, varying based on their sub-species. Of course, this requires three things. A connection to the landscape, as without Rune in the land, any feats are limited to what one can do to survive A connection to the Forest, without which no Rune can be called forth through a user’s body, and thus harnessed(Even if at extreme risk), nor can the landscape be replenished. Sufficient energy to act upon within the user’s own body. Serene belongs to a “caste” that stands above and beyond even the “monsters” of the Forest, a descendant of the very gods who shaped the world her people hail from(not her world of birth, its complicated). While of course her blood is far weaker compared to that of her so-called divine ancestor, its enough to sustain her on a day to day basis, but still has its drawbacks. Rune Magic: Drawing directly from the energy in one’s blood, various forms of magic can be cast. As dragons are effective factories of this energy(if extremely hampered due to a dependence on the Forest), this allows a user the more fine tuned control needed. Additionally, all monsters have an “affinity” for a specific element or elements, shaped by their racial type, though this affinity may just be for all, and not a specific. In Serene’s case, the affinity is for the base elements of fire and wind, due to her bloodline, as well as the sub-element of wind that is electricity. As due to her current situation, she is only capable of producing low end spells, namely small gusts of wind that are more like gentle nudges, fire orbs best suited to starting forest fires than actually hurting people, and small jolts of electrical energy. Technomancy(Machinecraft) The power to control technology is a potent and decent power, and in Serene’s case, functions as a form of “skill tree” that can, over time, grow and develop. This of course requires that she can understand it and manipulate what she’s looking at. She cannot create out of nothing, but can only work with what she has. Due to the lack of Rune, her powers are extremely diminished, and revolve more around protecting herself than really fighting. Her ability to repair and fix machinery is far more effective than the average person, her awareness of her surroundings is higher in regards to mechanical lifeforms, and she can, for a brief period, “cloak” herself from technological means, but this is something that should be done only in grave circumstances. Dragonic Biology: She’s tougher, stronger, faster, smarter than the average human, but the last bit might be more due to the long amount of time she’s been alive, rather than innate IQ, but then again… Anyways, dragons are generally powerful creatures even without magic in the equations, while Serene is not capable of say, lifting a tank, she can lift about five times her own weight in an emergency, if straining, can tank bullets even without shielding(just not explosives, those fuck you up right good on the inside), and can well, run for awhile. She can’t break the sound barrier, but still, don’t race her. This is further apparent due to her body having what looks like scales under her skin, and wings which allow for gliding, rather than true flight(she claims its too straining, odds are she has no clue how to actually fly and is too ashamed to admit it). Thermal vision is possible, although apparently only in one eye, which...probably isn’t a good thing. -Vulnerabilities: (Necessary for more powerful characters) Food: While this may not seem readily apparent, dragons, even in human forms, have immensely high metabolisms, and for Serene, its compounded by the fact that she has to make sure she can eat said food. If she doesn’t eat enough, this can make her sluggish, or cause minor instability in her mood. In extreme cases this could cause her to black out or die. Lack of Magic To clarify, she has magic, her entire race does(well, her paternal grandmother’s side does) have magic, but the bulk of this is dependent on a connection to the realm of their origin. Akin to the situation with Asgard when Hela started going bonkers in the MCU with power, but proximity is less important. Without connection to the realm known simply as the “Forest” her powers are diminished, and this is hampered further by a lack of the energy her kind draws upon in the atmosphere or landscapes of Earth. While her body does indeed produce enough energy on its own to sustain her, this is not sufficient to power her magic 24/7, and thus means she can only use it in short bursts, and if not timed properly, could spell disaster if she cannot restore her energy fast enough. This therefore hampers what kind of magic she can cast, forcing her to rely on weak “spells” instead of say something bigger. And the fact she never had proper training in the magical arts like her father did. Overdrafting Not to be confused with the economic version, overdrafting is when a Rune user draws upon too much energy, and uses an ability that surpasses the current amount of Rune in their reserves. This instead results in them using their own life force to fuel what is needed(this can result from any number of activities, not just casting of magic), and while usually a user is able to stop and take time to recover, in some cases, this will cause one to pass out, and in rare, extreme cases, kill the user. So caution is advised, and careful monitoring of one’s levels of energy. Since Serene’s body can only replenish so much of her internal stores on a daily basis, this is a regular and real risk to her when in combat, and thus means that she has to work as efficiently as possible, or risk severe physical damage to her body. Strain: This may seem self evident, but even in human form, Serene has to be careful, as dragons really do depend on their “arcane” energy to work, and as such, this can cause her harm, so it leaves her prone to just...goofing off or working remotely. She cannot turn into her true form currently, or it would kill her within minutes. As it stands now, she’s fine, but she has to be vigilant at all times. This also means that the usage of certain items of hers have to be regulated, due to physical and mental strain placed upon her. Hallucinations: She sometimes hallucinates. This is more annoying than a true issue, but she talks to her “partner” a lot, and its really unnerving and offputting to see her amicably carrying on a conversation with an empty room. Especially if for some reason...it talks back. Probably will never happen but still. Standard Anti-Dragon stuff: Anti-Dragon stuff may or may not work on her. -Gadgets: Power Suit and Body Suit: Starting with the skin/body suit, despite looking like and resembling latex or other skin tight garments, the material is actually instead biomechanical in nature, and in Serene’s own words “bonded to my own flesh, its a literal second skin.” Relatively heat and cold resistant, it covers most of her body, and functions as a form of weak environmental or space suit when the helmet is put on, and due to its baseline properties, can manifest a small force field that can protect her in short bursts from attacks, though it won’t stop the momentum, just the damage. So getting kicked hard enough could knock her back, but she wouldn’t be hurt. The Power Suit is far more alien looking, but just like the lower suit, appears to be biomechanical in origin, and when not in usage, appears to fade out of existence, Serene has given no explanation for how this works, merely stating that its all mind based. Probably has to do with matter manipulation, given intricate patterns on the lower suit match where the Power Suit appears to firm up first, before materializing elsewhere. As with the skinsuit, it has shielding, albeit far better that can take more hits, but it appears to require far more mental fortitude to operate, given factors that will be explored elsewhere. The right or left arm can be shifted into a cannon like protrusion, but so far hasn’t been used as anything more than a bludging weapon. Could be due to a lack of the needed ammo. According to Serene, it can be upgraded with other technology, but due to the unique nature of how its..kinda bonded to her, she has to be careful when making modifications. So no, you are not going to see her install a drink cap anytime soon. Mother Ship: The unnamed main ship that Serene resides in, and appears to act as her home base. Unnamed because she hasn’t said what its name is. Part of the ship is clearly missing, a stern section appears to be partly destroyed, suggested to be the cause of the ship’s derelict state. Resembles the Great Fox strongly, albeit with a black and gray color scheme. Armor is composed of a relatively strong alien alloy that appears to be enriched with neutrium(super dense metal found inside neutron stars) to a small extent. Used to have an FtL drive, but this has been lost, and the main power plant was badly damaged. Comes equipped with a cargo bay, forward hanger, housing for far more than just one person, a bar, lounge, and captain’s quarters. And a proper kitchen and gym, plus medical bay that’s apparently never used. And the ship's library, which might make someone's head spin from the contents. Primary weapons appear to be a pair of rotating laser turrets at the front, and possible other, as of yet unstated defenses that were probably disabled due to structural damage. Capable of sub-light travel, but barely due to low fuel. Gunship A smaller, saucer shaped ship that resides inside the mother ship’s hanger bay, and can house a crew of thirty, but is designed for just one to run. Consists of a small med bay, workshop, sleeping quarters, ammo room, and a few other odds and ends including the bridge. Flight seems to be done through an engine located in the back, and a quartet of thrusters on the underside. Unharmed and seems fully functional, but is offline. Assorting Gaming Systems -Weapons: Cannon Arm: Weaponized part of the suit, apparently uses an unspecified power source to produce energy blasts. Generally strong enough to take down a building, but otherwise is as stated before, used for melee. This may imply that other functions were lost or require resources Serene doesn’t have access to currently. AK-47: Exactly what it sounds like. Alien Shotgun: From a lost world she apparently got from a friend long before her adventure began, its really just a shot gun that fires explosive rounds. Slow time to reload though. Still, looks nice. Also apparently out of ammo currently. Hand Plasma Pistol: A hand gun that fires low end plasma bursts. Despite this, they’re not that damaging and seem to stun more than anything else. Iron Baseball Bat Iron Halberd Other unspecified melee weapons that are apparently locked in her armory and the door is jammed. Civilian Occupation: None, but mechanic works, or game development. But please, for the love of her kind’s gods, do not let her become a pro gamer. Biography--------- Character History/Origin: Imagine you had it all. Wealth, power, prestige, an arsenal of weapons and technologies that would make one question a person’s sanity, a people who saw you as an infant deity, and a solid economy that didn’t run off of war. A goddess for an ancestor, a deranged lunatic for a mother, and a hero king for a father. You were Queen, ruler of a people who were in a world not their own, but who were fine. And then, one day, you lose it all. Not to an alien invasion, not to another power invading, not for any clear reason. One moment, you’re going to sleep next to the woman of your dreams, the next, you’re on a world frightening familiar to the one you were born on, but have no idea how you got there. You’re all alone, marooned where it all began for the war that you were born into, and forced to fight alone against robotic aberrations of the local life. Imagine you fight the man in charge, and find out that its not because of them you’re here. Imagine this going on for years, until finally, you design a way home, you think you’ve done it, and you activate the machine, and… ...You find yourself in yet another foreign world. This repeats, maybe for months, maybe for years, decades, who knows how long, until finally, you have enough. You locate the ship that brought you to another world long ago, before this all started, and begin planning. You don’t trust in some macguffin or the universe’s local deities to let you make it back, or for anything to go in your favor via luck. You plan, you plan, and you plan some more. You design a device identical to one you once used to skip between verses without a care, damning it all that you didn’t think to record your third homeworld in the nav computer, and finally, its finished. You’ve modified your ship’s core to turn it from an FtL drive to a trans dimensional drive, you and the ship’s AI are all alone in space, you’ve made sure the world below is spoken for, and you hit the button. And you think... You think its finally over, you get to go home, back to your wife, back to your people, back to your allies. But something goes wrong. In the middle of the jump, as you fall between universes, through that space between realities, something happens. An explosion rocks the ship, and you’re tossed from the inbetween to a random universe, once again, at the whim of wherever you turn up. Only this time… Oxygen and food are running low, and you’re adrift in space, rather than thankfully marooned on a planet. The latter is almost preferable to this, staring out at the cosmos, praying for rescue, knowing no one can hear you, but still hoping that the slowly growing orb in the distance is a planet with a breathable atmosphere, that maybe, just maybe… ...You are actually home. But of course, it’s never that easy, or simple, is it? Serene the Rockwoman was not one to give in easily to despair, but when its just you on a cold space ship, the pain and depression seems preferable, that oblivion is better than slowly dying. And yet, even if that world beyond isn’t home… You refuse to give up hope that maybe, there’s a way home, and that this world has life. Because whether for genuine hope or spite, the darkness won’t win.
