Emiko and Jun-Tao Zhao
Emiko had no strong feelings about the bulk of the quirk demonstrations. Some were okay, others were pretty cool, and nobody seemed terribly offensive. There was a handful that stood out to her. The first was Lacara. Her quirk just seemed dangerous. It didn’t really seem like it was her fault, but it was something she was going to have to keep in mind around her. Zhao-sensei too was making a mental note to keep her volatility in mind, lest something terrible come of it. Then there was Seo. His attitude was just plain foul. It was like he had nothing but contempt for the whole demonstration. Emiko felt terrible for Mori-sensei as she saw that little shit flip her off. If it hadn’t been for the fact that there were a whole slew of demonstrations to come, Zhao-sensei would have been having words with that boy. It was the first thing on his to do list after the demonstrations and other procedures ceased. Emiko could recognise Ebi has said something in a Chinese language, but she had only learned Mandarin from her daddy, so she had no clue what she had said. Zhao-sensei on the other hand had learned Cantonese back home, and had kept up to date on his Chinese media. He recognised the words, and although his face wouldn’t show it, he was glad someone appreciated good culture around here. At some point Daizo’s poetry rang out through the crowd, and Emiko just felt sad. It was like something was dragging her back to those days where she was getting overweight and everyone poked fun at her. Zhao-sensei muttered something in Mandarin about how much he missed his motherland. Eventually both of them snapped out of it, and Emiko felt like she really didn’t want to be around that particular quirk, while Zhao-sensei had a feeling he would have to keep a close eye on this Daizo kid. Zhao-sensei would have stepped up to control Marius when he wolfed out, but it seemed the boy had settled on engaging McCoy. McCoy was a new teacher, but Zhao-sensei had been informed he was more than capable of dealing with threats to his person. Indeed, his Tongzhi proved more than capable of wrestling with Marius without causing him any great harm. Emiko just considered his yet another quirk to be somewhat worried about. Eventually the demonstrations came to an end, and the principal arrived. Emiko knew her daddy had a lot of respect for him, so it would be interesting to see more of him in action. He spoke for a bit and showed them his quirk before they were ushered on to more formal arrangements. Spacenaut-sensei handed out their room keys along with the emergency evacuation plans. Emiko knew from daddy that they’d be paired with other people in the dorms, but she did not yet know with whom. While she had nothing against her, she really hoped it wasn’t Lacara, if only because she was worried she’d wake up to a room full of lava. As for the rest, she couldn’t imagine anyone that she’d either need to worry about nor have any personal problems with. Once they moved on, they were introduced to their dorm building. There wasn’t much to say about it, other than that it was there. Once all the talking was done and dusted, it was implied they had free reign for a bit. That made it time to get to socialising. First she had to find out who shared a room with her. She could see she had the key to room 8, so all she had to do was find out who else had a key to room 8. “Who else has a key to room 8?” She called out. Hopefully it would be as simple as whoever else had the key just speaking up the moment they heard her call out. [@Karillin] (Anybody that cares about what Seo does [s]I know, nobody[/s] read below)
With all the important business finally out of the way, Zhao-sensei decided to take the opportunity to address something that had been on his mind since the demonstrations. As the principal finished speaking, Seo would feel a hand on his shoulder, and Zhao-sensei would lean in and whisper, "Come with me." Zhao-sensei planned to deal with this apart from the other students, if only because he felt it fair not to embarass one of the students on the first day, no matter how contemptible their attitude was. He intended to lead Seo around the corner from the crowd, out of sight and out of earshot. Seo only paid mild attention to the principal's speech once everyone had shown off their quirks, making a mental note do his best to avoid the psycho wolf boy at any opportunity he could. He gad enough issues on his plate as it was and dealing with people who could barely keep their abilities under control wasn't something he wanted to add to it. As the principal's speech began to wind down, the boy picked up his bags and was getting ready to nab his dorm key when he felt a firm grip settle on his shoulder. For a moment, his entire body tensed, the lines of red along his arms instinctively rising in spikey formations before Seo forced himself to take a deep breath, muttering under his breath as he turned to fave the teacher in weary resignation. He'd expected this, and part of him wanted to just keep quiet and make this as painless as possible. "Lemme guess, the dress code violation?" Unfortunately, for him that was often easier said than done. Setting his hands in his pockets, he'd allow himself to be half-guided, half-dragged away from the rest of the group, mentally prepping himself for whatever dress down this Zhao guy had in store him. Zhao-sensei just shook his head at his flippancy. "You know very well what this is about." Given the boy's attitude on stage, he was quite sure he was playing dumb just to aggravate him. It did not bode well for getting the boy to show any contrition. "You showed utter disrespect towards Mori-sensei at the end of your demonstration with that obscene gesture of yours. I am sure had it not been for the fact that we wished to get through the demonstrations with as little disturbance as possible, you would have been confronted for your behaviour on the spot. As it stands, I have taken it upon myself to confront you for your impropriety." "Now, do you understand why what you did was wrong?" He was anticipating yet another flippant and disrespectful response, but perhaps Seo would yet surprise him. Seo rolled his eyes at the admonishment, but remained quiet as he toed at the ground, seemingly mulling over his words for a moment. "It's . . . it's a force of habit." He muttered under his breath, taking a hand out of his pocket to hold the other against him. "I'm . . .*sigh*I didn't mean to take it that far. It just . . . came out." God that sounds like such a bs excuse. Seo though with an internal groan, but he had no other way to describe the moment. It was a vexing predicament he found himself. "So, what's the punishment then?" Zhao-sensei was not entirely convinced by his words, but chose to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. "There will be no formal punishment. It is early in the year and this is your first offense. It is better for students and teachers to have a cordial relationship than an antagonistic one, and that is why I will show leniency for now, as well as why you should refrain from engaging in such offensive behaviour in the future. Understand that if this happens again, I will not hesitate to punish you." It was a policy he had learned to live with in his first year of teaching. While shouting and bellowing served a purpose, it was better to at least try to establish a cordial relationship first. Harshness could come after someone failed to demonstrate a willingness to learn. "However I will require you to come with me and make an apology to Mori-sensei in person now. Once she is satisfied, you will be free to do as you please." Seo screwed up his face, the idea of being forced to apologize right now grating on him. However, he swallowed his any arguement or resistance he had and merely gave the teacher a nod, not quite trusting himself to speak lest he dig his hole even deeper than he already had. "I'll take that as understanding. Come with me." He then ushered Seo along out of the dorm building. Zhao-sensei was aware that Mori-sensei was presently engaged with business with Mitsuhide-sensei back in the main building. As much as he was loathe to interrupt people during important business, he assumed this would not take long, and wanted it dealt with sooner rather than later. Eventually they found the office Mori-sensei was in and Zhao-sensei knocked on the door. "Tongzhi Mori? I'm sorry to interrupt you and Tongzhi Mitsuhide, but Yasuhide here has something to say to you." He gestured to the boy with him, expecting events to unfold from there. Mori-sensei looked… bored. When she opened the door she was almost yawning, but seemed eager to have any kind of distraction from whatever work she had to do with Mitsuhide. Her voice, still a little hoarse from talking so much with the students in the demonstrations, greeted the pair with a small bow. “Oh it doesn’t bother me one bit to have a minute away from paperwork. What is it you have to say young man? Is it about your behavior at the demo?” "Sorta." Seo grumbled as he took a step forward, grabbing one of the chairs near her desk to take a seat. "I . . . went a tad further than I meant too with my demo. I just wanted to leave an impression on the class that was different than the usual one that people get when they see, well, this." Seo lifted his hand with a slight wince as his palm split into a crimson line, a few drops of red floating into the air for a few moments before receding back into him. "I . . . I just want you to know that I do want to help others like you guys do. . . even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes." One he'd finished his explanation, the boy waited in silence for the teacher's response. While he hadn't been completely open with them about why he had done what he did(partially because even he wasn't totally sure about that either), he hoped it'd be enough for now. "Hmm..." Mori-sensei could almost understand that. Seo's Quirk wasn't exactly for the squeemish, he had probably had a less than positive response to showing it before, perhaps even from Quirkies. But, she couldn't encourage bringing more negative attention to himself for the sake of distracting from the nature of his Quirk. He seemed to have his heart in the right place, but he was misguided. "Seo-kun, I forgive you. However from now on if you want to leave an impression, make sure it's a good one. As heroes, we must be a shining example for people like ourselves. You will be held to no lower standard than the rest of us." "Indeed." Zhao-sensei added. "Now, I think it's best if we let Mori-sensei return to her business. Come along, Yasuhide." He gestured for him to leave. Although he was quite sure Mori-sensei preferred to be distracted from what she was doing, it was better for her that she get back to it, and he assumed Seo would prefer to scurry off to whatever he had planned next anyway. "Yeah yeah," Seo muttered shurgging his shoulders a bit at the female teacher's words. "I'll try. . . but I'm not making any promises." With that said, Seo followed Zhao out of the room, leaving mori to her work. Looking up at the strict teacher with a blank expression, he took a hand out of his pocket to give a sloppy mock salute. "Welp, I'm going to my dorm to see what kind of mess my potential roomies have made of the place. Unless you need me for something else?" Zhao-sensei just scoffed at his little salute. "No, Yasuhide, you're dismissed. Try to actually take what you heard today to heart, will you?" With that, he walked off to get back to his own duties. While he wasn't so sure about Seo's sincerity on the matter, at least the boy would know he couldn't do as he pleased and get away with it. He would have to wait and see if he shaped up at all in the days to come.
