Just in case you don't notice, I have changed the map's default setting to only show the different regions and your current location. You should still be able to go to the Map Key and click on information that you would like to see. 

For instance, I added a new gym, relatively close to Faye, since that might interest her, but to see it, you have to click on Local Gyms.
