The way I understand it, what humans perceive is sound is a result of a pressure wave - whether audible or not to the human ear. That pressure wave then creates vibrations as it travels through a medium, thus disturbing it and creating those vibrations. Those vibrations are then translated as 'Sound'. As an example, a Sonic Boom travels at different speeds and sounds vastly different in air than it would in water, which is the result of the pressure wave moving through a different medium. If that's not how it works then welp, everything I know is a lie and that's how I've always been using this sort of power in my like, ten plus years of RPing and boy do I feel silly. That said, to make things a bit easier and less confusing, I'll just come up with something a bit more appropriate after I get some food in me.
