[/cell][cell][h3][sup][color=000000]life at ritman high[/color][/sup][/h3][indent][color=dcdcdc]Ritman is one of Kenny's biggest regrets. The path she is on now is almost directly opposite of the path she was on then. Up until her senior year, Kenny punched in to school, went through the motions of school, then went home from school. Her friend group was a collection of boys and girls with similarly loose mindsets: playing games, going on hikes, etc. She surfed through high school life on a board of under-aged drinking and stupid, "do it, you won't" challenges. This general lack of enthusiasm also included learning to cook and clean, going to temple, doing laundry, and other adult tasks. Her problem wasn't a lack of intelligence, but rather a lack of motivation.

The summer before her senior year, this motivation was provided in the form of a blackout, a coincidence, and a telescope. More specifically, on the night of the infamous "Delton Down" blackout of 2011, a summer night of riveting Super Smash Brothers with her crew suddenly turned into a dreadfully boring, quiet night. After the departure of her disappointed friends, the grumbling Kenny decided to quell her boredom with a walk through the town. At the same time, the Ritman physics teacher, Mrs. Fritz, was lugging a very expensive telescope down the street, a street which she just so happened to share with the Kagan family.

Using a small amount of imagination, one can see the short, slender Mrs. Fritz calling out to the equally slim--but much taller--Kenny for aid. Kenny found herself carrying the telescope up one of the larger hills in the town, held hostage by a science grade which Mrs. Fritz claimed was still mutable. By the end of the journey, there was no way she [i]wasn't[/i] going to look through the telescope. She saw the moon, magnified to three hundred times its size, and said "holy shit". Instead of chastising her, Mrs. Fritz elbowed her aside. Peering through the telescope, her words were "fucking beautiful." That was the moment that Kenny became friends with a teacher for the first time.

Looking back, it was almost like Mrs. Fritz had meant to catch her that night. Their casual conversation that night continued the following school year, where a strangely invigorated Kenny found herself working harder in school, helping more around the house, and--shockingly--still having time to play games and hang out with her friends. It was like she'd become a superhuman, with her power being time management and caffeine consumption.

Thanks to Mrs. Fritz's glowing recommendation, and a set of decent SAT scores, she [i]was[/i] able to get into community college. That was where she really thrived, despite the extra year or so she lost to her peers at four-year institutions. She applied for a more traditional school, got accepted, and proceeded to power through undergraduate with a frightening speed. Masters came next, with a professor at CU Boulder taking her on. Then, the PhD.

According to her professor, the rise was nothing short of meteoric, but the hissing voice of self-doubt in the back of her mind always prodded her about not trying harder. According to that serpent in her head, she was supposed to be a child prodigy, the greatest scientist who ever lived. That voice has always been loud in her mind.

The exact limit of this ability is not known, as a telescope seems to count as much as an alarm clock. They speak to her in a variety of ways: some machines are human-like in their words, while others are simple, repetitive phrases. Powered-off electronics are still accessible to her, as are some unplugged machines. The power seems to function as a combination of a psychic link with the object, and an exchange of electromagnetic waves between herself and the receiving object.[/color][/indent][/cell][cell][color=#2e2c2c]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/color][hider=][SUB][color=000000][b]   ▼   s t r e n g t h s[/b][/color][/sub]

She can extract information from them like time, location, images, and--in some cases--thoughts. Although Kenny can intuitively understand and converse with machines, a large part of Kenny's power comes being able to command these electronics/machines, not just listen to them. She can, for example, produce a short-circuiting CC camera, an enraged ice-maker, or a car which suddenly decides to start without the owner's key. If a firearm or tank were to be have a key electronic component, for example, Kenny might find herself with a great deal of power, if she can get a handle on giving the commands properly.[/color][/sup][/indent][SUB][color=000000][b]   ▼   w e a k n e s s e s[/b][/color][/sub]

[indent][sup][color=000000]►[/color] [color=dcdcdc]There are a few downsides to speaking to electronics. As is commonly known, computers tend to be stupid, even in the best of cases. The aforementioned tank was not built to be a supercomputer, and it most certainly was not built to interface directly with a human brain. A command to "destroy my enemies" would likely leave the poor tin-brained behemoth spinning in circles. Unless Kenny can send commands in a way that the device understands, she is limited to receiving data only. 

Attempting to affect many large or complicated devices at once (aka a super computer or a fleet of cars) can lead to headaches, nausea, and loss of consciousness. Commonly used items are less problematic (a cell phone or game console is less difficult to manage than an aircraft carrier.

Lastly, there exists a surprising number of machines in the world with a great deal of "intelligence". They have thus far lacked the ability to speak the same language as humans, but that is now changing. And, unfortunately, some of these machines are less benevolent, and more dominating, than others.[/color][/sup][/indent][color=#2e2c2c]-[/color][/hider][/cell][/row][/table][table][row][/row][row][cell][h3][sup][color=000000]psyche[/color][/sup][/h3][indent][color=dcdcdc]Kenny has changed much since Ritman, evolving from the laid-back, easygoing underclassman. After deciding to reinvent herself in college, she instead grew into herself as a ISTP, building things for shits and giggles and then moving on to the next project in an instant. She views herself as a battery, which other people tend to deplete. Talking to them is always a treat, but always exhausting. When she does let someone in, she tends to rely on them pretty heavily, and doesn't have much in the way of a filter.

Unfortunately, after a devastating, mentally abusive relationship in which both she and her ex-boyfriend tore each other apart, she's picked up plenty of anxiety to feed the voice in her head telling her she isn't good enough. Around others, it's easy to ignore the voice, but when she's alone in her room, trying to relax, the memories of Oliver and the regrets she feels from her past tend to spring upon her in a fury. Without her small but powerful social structure to bolster her, it's unlikely that Kenny would remain stable for too long. She doesn't share well with strangers, and without her close friends to spill her problems to, the downward spiral would be a far stronger pull on her.[/color][/indent][sup][color=#2e2c2c]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/color][/sup][/cell][/row][/table][/INDENT][/INDENT]
