Blinking his eyes blearily in an attempt to clear both the gunk and sleep from them, he peered up at the white featureless ceiling above, his mind drifting aimlessly from thought to thought until the familiar rhythms he'd grown used to hearing over the years cropped up once again, giving him something upon which he could anchor himself. So, letting the rhythms of all the powers he'd absorbed thus far flood his mind in an unexpectedly harmonious cacophony of sound, Rayner began the long and arduous process of getting out of bed. The first thing to go was the thick blanket covering the upper-most part of his bed. After that was the thin sheet separating him and the thicker blanket above. Once both of them were off, Rayner sat up slowly, not wanting to feel lightheaded from any sudden rushes of blood, before swinging his legs over to the right. Letting his feet hang limply in the air for a bit, he carefully reached up and cleaned away the remaining gunk in his eyes with an old shirt he had lying nearby, before tossing it back into its customary spot and burying his face in his hands. Taking a deep breath as he rubbed his face in an effort to keep from falling back into the dark abyss of slumber, Rayner began to wonder if he really had made the right choice all those years ago. He began to question whether or not the path he was currently going down really was better, or if it just dishonored the last memories he had of his sister even further. He sighed, letting his hands fall back onto the bed before balling them into fists, his eyes narrowing into thin slits as he ground his teeth in anger. No, it didn't. What he did was for the good of all mankind. Even the taking of life. After all, he wouldn't be able to change this world for the better without the power to do so. Not with all the threats it currently faced. He let out another sigh, forcing himself to relax as he reassured himself some more. No, what he was doing was not wrong, no matter how others may interpret it. The world needed change. And in order for him to supply that need, he had to have power. And the only way he could get power was through the taking of life, distasteful as it was. So, hardening his heart for the time being, Rayner pushed those thoughts from his mind, choosing instead to focus on the rhythms dancing through his brain. Falling back onto his bed, Rayner shut his eyes and allowed himself to get lost amongst the sounds as the morning slowly wore on.
