I'm not the GM but I feel qualified to answer this.

1) This is definitely a fantasy/sci-fi mix, as this is an expanded adaptation of World of Light, the campaign mode of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and is thus a megacrossover of several established video game franchises. We have more fantasy characters than sci-fi at the moment, but we used to have Zer0 and Gaige from Borderlands (before they died due to the player quitting anyway), and I saw someone sign up with Zero from Mega Man X. Not sure what happened to him.

2) No, they don't. We've got someone playing Ratchet and Clank, and another guy is playing Bowser, Bowser Jr, and Kamek from the Mario franchise.

3) Since this is a megacrossover, basically you can use any race you want as long as it's one from an established game franchise. Generally, canon characters and races only though. I'm playing a custom character, but I was only able to get away with it because I'm playing an MMO protagonist and they can be whatever race and class you want.
