The Wind Riders beckon
You made the cut. You passed all the tests you were given and finally took your place among the Wind Riders, the band of heroes that trillions of people look up to. You've even got a shiny badge to prove it. Now all that's left is to prove you can pull your weight as a member. Unfortunately for you, this is a time of peace. The Collective and the Empire haven't been at each other's throats lately, no Mythless extremists have been active, and even individual pirate attacks are at an all time low. There's almost no glory to be had, in fact. Now you're being sent out on patrol in the ass end of nowhere, partnered up with some other rookies. If only something exciting would happen...
The Blue Sun Collective The Blue Sun is a collection of smaller factions, each with their own laws and values, held together by a complicated web of treaties, trade deals, and mutual fear. Members of the Collective tend to be warlike and power hungry, with few notable exceptions, and constantly vie to get the upper hand over each other. Their military power relies on individual strength rather than unity, and while each fighter is the match for twenty of the Empire's soldiers, their lack of coordination and ordered command is their downfall. The Golden Empire Originally created as a slave state that would capture entire planet's populations and force them to submit, since the reign of Emperor Vani II four hundred years ago, the Empire has followed a doctrine of peace and relative equality, with no individual race standing above the others. With genetic technology allowing for the interbreeding of species, the current Empress embodies nearly every member of her people, not only metaphorically but physically as well. The Empire's military force focuses on bringing out the strengths of each of it's members, comprising of individual units that complement each other's racial traits. The Mythless The Mythless is a collective name for any group that eschews magic for any reason. For the most part, it is comprised of a single religious group that believes that the energy that powers magic, Mana, is evil and tainted, and that anybody who uses it is damned. On the extreme side of this group, multiple terrorist groups have formed that strike at major magical infrastructure and prominent mages. Since a recent reform of the church, these groups have been silent.

Each faction has it's own currency, but they can typically be traded between each other, though often with loss.
