The Fifth great expansion is underway after the disastrous failure that was the fourth sphere expansion. It took over a hundred years for the Empire to recover from the monumental loss of resources, ships and manpower. On top of this, the warp tunnel created by the disaster of the 4th sphere fleet has been discovered and taken over by the forces of chaos, now they raid the Empire's worlds with impunity. To say nothing of the awakening necron empire at their doorstep and the ever present threat of orkoid invasion and the dozen other threats to the Empire. It increasingly looks as if the fifth expansion will not be a grand expansion of territory so much as a desperate holding on to territory already claimed. The Tau Empire is in need of victories and triumphs to reassure it's civilian populace that all is well, and nothing can oppose the spreading enlightenment of the greater good. To help with this the Ethereal caste has never been above spreading a few exaggerated tales of the many exploits of their brave fire warriors. A few white lies in the name of the greater good are a small price to pay after all. Your Cadre has recently become the subject of one such propaganda campaign. The eyes of the Ethereal and those of the many citizens of the septs in and neighbouring your war zone are on you. Pushing you to ever greater feats of daring and courage. Of course that also means you and your commander are going to be pressured to complete ever more ludicrous and impossible tasks. OOC: So that is the gist of the game. It will be played in campaign arcs. Giving the opportunity between these campaigns for new players to come in, old players to change characters if they wish and the Cadre in general to grow, refresh themselves and prepare. It also means you wont necessarily have to fight the same enemy for the entire RP. We can switch it up now and again. As far as player characters are concerned. I was thinking that the PCs would play primarily as squad leaders within the cadre, or several players can play as one type of unit if they really want to. The Cadre we will be a part of is a hunter cadre, so there are plenty of options. Fire warriors, breachers, Stealth suits, pathfinders. I'm a little iffy on allowing PC broadsides, but crisis suits should be acceptable. As always, feel free to ask for clarification or general inquiry.
