However, Spearow proved to be lucky, too, as after Baby-Doll Eyes Spearow got in a maximum amount of Fury Attacks on Vee. Fortunately, due to Vee’s first move being on a range he got the upper hand in the move exchange, and two Swifts did enough to strike down the Spearow, but not before Spearow got in another full five Fury Attacks, leaving Vee pretty damaged. New Pokémon recorded! Erza gained 2000P![/hider] Now, against Ulrika. Princess VS Vulpix. Princess started with Gust… only to find that the enemy Vulpix had exceptional Special Defense. She managed to relatively dodge an Ember, and then go in for a Tackle. There was a bit of a close-range struggle as Vulpix attempted to Ember at the bird up close, Princess doing more and more damage while Vulpix managed to get an Ember or two in in return. Princess was doing fine and about to win… when Vulpix turned and managed to predict Princess’ attack angle and blasted an Ember straight on. Critical Hit! Princess fainted. A heavily damaged Vulpix turns to face Erza’s next Pokémon. Still going to get experience for that, though. [center][color=6ecff6][i]Princess grew to level 12![/i][/color][/center] Regardless. Knock down the Vulpix with any Pokémon. Against Mareep, it was Budew… for a second, and then it was Vulpix, which had around the same effect as Sunny Day as harsh sunlight came down. Vulpix got paralyzed by a Thunder Wave, but that didn’t stop her. It became an Ember VS Thunder Shock match, and due to the harsh sunlight shining overhead Vulpix held the advantage, firing until Mareep was a cooked sheep that fell fainted. And now… now was a performance where one were more skilled than the other. Vee had two levels on the Eevee, and Eevee over here was freshly caught while Vee was more used to trainer VS trainer battle by now. Vee pretty easily came out on top. Shock Wave WOULD have been the stronger move… but Draught brought a scorching sun into the battle, as well as the fact the typical Vulpix has twice the Special Defense of a Blitzle, and so Vulpix could take the thunder way better than Blitzle could take Vulpix’s enhanced fireballs. Three Embers later, and Blitzle fainted. [center][color=6ecff6][i]Vulpix grew to level 13![/i][/color][/center] Budew VS Dwebble! Budew starts by using Growth, increasing its Attack and Special Attack dramatically! Dwebble starts shooting rocks at Budew, shooting three rocks but Budew managed to dodge one of them. Dwebble’s high attack still meant this stung! But, with enhanced power, Budew still went for Absorb! Growth had efficiently turned Absorb into Mega Drain, draining Dwebble of some health. Attacking Special Defense was definitely the right move on Dwebble, having weak such… but Budew had weak Defense in turn. In the next round, Dwebble shot a full five rocks into Budew, who barely held on, Absorbing health back but not enough to last another round. Erza switched to Poochyena, who immediately performed pretty well dodging three out of four rocks of a Rock Blast. Dwebble now went for the super-effective Fury Cutter, while Poochyena went for Bite, and- Poochyena bit first, causing considerable damage to Dwebble, but Dwebble sliced back and- yowch! Maybe Poochyena got a cool scar from it? … Critical Hit! Super Effective! Poochyena survived only with a slight bit of health on account of being the higher leveled Pokémon. … Poochyena then bit again, and Dwebble fainted. [center][color=6ecff6][i]Budew grew to level 11! Perhaps it is due to the perpetual rain over Rainrock, but it almost never rains here, and what started out as simply a pathway between Worldedge and Pureplain grew into a small city in its own right. Here, people mainly gather for the outpost towards the sea and to spend a well-deserved vacation. The buildings here are a mix of old fancy styles rich people might appreciate and healthy modern buildings, many green trees and pools of water invite nature in here. But the city is also not big enough to intimidate the average visitor, many open spaces exist with fresh vacation-air going through town, a homely feeling. Redcoast is close enough to Pureplain to be able to partake in all sorts of worldly delicacies, and hotels as well as restaurants of the fanciest kinds exist along the streets. But these things isn’t the main reason why Pokémon Trainers would be coming to Redcoast City, A Pokémon Gym exists, one which all Pokémon Trainers who wish to partake in the Pokémon League needs to enter eventually. It is said to be a run-down warehouse that emits an evil aura and cries of pain can be heard from within frightening those who’d wish to visit. For a Pokémon Coordinator, this is also the city where their adventure starts, with the Contest Hall allowing tryouts for the newest talents and Dreamer Studios allowing for training within the field for those wishing to take on the world. Closer to the water lies the Surfer’s Club, where one can partake in training and sports for those who wishes to ride their Pokémon across the waves along with other activities. And then, also closer to the sea, is a large building where Team Virtue resides in their West Base opposite their main base in Justroad City, reminding that this place us under their guard. After this, Entei lowered his head to grab into the back of Mareep with his mouth, the Mareep giving a distressed little cry as the wool Pokémon was lifted up, and then Entei turned around and leapt back into the forest, quickly disappearing among the trees. The old town is populated by elders and younglings aplenty, and the town has a culture of their own. Plenty of Pokémon assist with the work, either as work-force or the animals that work is being done on. One usually only crosses Highhill Town on a trip to or from Pureplain City. Regardless, it is a place of beauty. The fields around it are cultivated by hard-working people and Pokémon while the lake to the east gleams in the sunshine as fishermen attend it. There are small roads of asphalt spiraling up the hill to lead to all the old buildings, and children playing around in stairs or nature is very common. It is said that a trainer praying at the nearby Silent Shrine will be blessed on their journey, so many travel to Highhill Town just for that. There’s also a set of very ancient rocks spread about town, pointing out towards the lake on top of the hill with some engravings. What they mean? Nobody knows. More shaking. From more than one direction. Seconds later, another Onix showed up through a tunnel to Eryn’s right, the giant rock-snake emerging and standing tall. Then, another Onix showed up in a similar fashion to her left. Then behind her. Then slightly to her right behind and [i]above[/i] her, a giant rock-snake looking on as the head stuck out of the ceiling. A final one in front of her to the left, emerging from the ground next to the Onix that had guided her here, placing herself next to him. Eryn and her Pokémon found themselves surrounded by five different Onix. There’s a great river and more mountainside to the right, stretching on to the right of the route, but at the very least it is not blocking the way the same way the mountain of the Wet Caverns is. She needs to get onto the road, because assumingly she wants to cross the bridge up ahead that will carry her over the river. She takes a couple steps, then- The earth shakes behind her, and a loud crashing sound echoes behind her. Onix had collapsed the new entrance she had come through. A new entrance that went directly down into the territory was less than desirable, after all, and as such it was destroyed when the need that had created it was on her way. There was no going back that way… unless she came back with an equally powerful digger, anyway. Eryn could head on, anyway. To the left was the great expanse of water that was Route 14, otherwise known as the Dragon Lake. Moving on from there, she could head forth to the town that awaited her. She had to cross a bridge, but when she got there, she found the place to be… partly submerged. Yet, over time, Dragon Lake has actually increased in volume, the water-level rising and swallowing the town. Then the natural conclusion would be to move the town back, follow the water-level, and rebuild at the new shore, right? That, does not appear to have been the thought that went through the minds of the designers of this Town, which is essentially placed out in the water on top of older buildings, the streets of the town flooded in water and to get around one has to make use of their many canoes or get on the back of a Pokémon. Quagsires seem to be strangely prefered, and there are Woopers hanging around in the waters blankly. The town of Lakewatch rises fairly high for its size, and vegetation grows pretty freely around the buildings. Most buildings and streets have white floating cobblestone to walk on either side of the streets, with a river of water flowing in the middle. People here are highly accustomed to this, and the streets are constantly bustling with people heading back and forth, as well as people actually gliding down from the higher buildings from the roofs above using strange little paragliders. It appears people live in the higher floors, while business takes place on ground/water-level. There are canoes basically everywhere that anyone’s free to borrow, townspeople commonly jumping down on a canoe, using the force of the jump to drift it to the other side and then simply jump off. Now, anyone could hear from the name that Lakewatch Town is the town that basically rules the Dragon Lake. The Lakewatchers are a group of people that regularly patrol the waters, and become friends with the dragons that live there. Tours by the Lakewatchers are the primary tourist attraction of the place, along with the fish that is procured from the same lake, and guides are trained to show the way in any surrounding areas. Their boats are also those who trade with the western side through Highhill, keeping the place alive and busy. Plus, there’s always the rumors of treasure or otherwise hiding deep in Flooded Lakewatch, and Descent Tower looms in the middle of town for those hoping to explore… but who really knows? It’s a nice and different place, definitely. However, does Jenelle know that? [color=dbd1b4]‘Grr, dragon! That means Water Gun is ineffective! Alright! Panpour, use Scratch!’[/color] Jenelle commanded, pointing forth. She does not. Panpours are faster than Gibles on average, so Panpour got in a Scratch on Gibs first… but then had a Sandstorm erupted into its face. After being buffeted once and getting that Gibs is pretty tough, Panpour used Leer to reduce Gibs Defense successfully, but was then hit in the face by a Sand-Attack. Now Panpour dashed in to Scratch again, but mid-sandstorm and with sand in the face, Panpour had a hard time hitting anything and was buffeted by the sandstorm, and Gibs just sent more sand into its face. By some stroke of luck Panpour managed to hit the next Scratch, but then was promptly Dragon Raged. Panpour stuck around by eating its Sitrus Berry and then tried to attack again… missing terribly and then fainting to the next Dragon Rage. Pansear was next, revealing the theme of Jenelle’s Pokémon. It goes immediately on the offensive, which Gibs responds to by sending sand in its face. With Sand-Veil in place it means that Pansear misses all four of its Scratches as the fire monkey desperately tears into the sandstorm and, albeit the sandstorm dissipated after the second Sand-Attack, Pansear still missed and Gibs could just set up Sandstorm again and Dragon Rage the poor blind monkey to fainting again without having taken any damage. Completing the trio was Pansage. It was Sand-Attacked in the face, but despite all of that, it still landed the first Scratch. Gibs had taken quite a bit of damage, now, but was still trucking and shot another Sand-Attack in Pansage’s face. Pansage missed the next Scratch, and then got Dragon Raged again, the dragon-type flames making the monkey cry out from damage and being flung back to eat its Sitrus Berry. It somehow hit the next Scratch, leaving Gibs with perilously little health left… but the next Dragon Rage took out Pansage as well, meaning Gibs had effectively taken out all of Jenelle’s Pokémon on his own. [center][color=6ecff6][i]Gibs grew to level 15! Gibs learned Take Down![/i][/color][/center] [center][color=6ecff6][i]Erika was victorious! You let me have that Farfetch’d, and I’ll use the money from the client to order whatever Pokémon you want! No matter how rare, Team Amethyst can procure it for you! H-honestly, I’m more concerned about my reputation within the team right now than I am of the money, so if I get to seem competent, you can use it! I get the credit for catching the Pokémon, while you get Amethyst to bring you the Pokémon of your dreams for you, for no cost and no strings attached! Th-that’s a sweet deal, right!?’[/color] So Jenelle attempted, desperate. [color=a8978d]‘Far…?’[/color] Farfetch’d asked, behind Erika. What would Erika do? … Now, if she declines, Jenelle is probably just going to reply to what Erika says and then run off in a panic with her fainted monkeys, so here’s the Mountain Valley again for the next action. Of course, the next action could be addressing Farfetch’d, but in case it isn’t. Strength and Mt. Chill, the Mountain Valley are a set of highlands that someone decided to make a thin but traversable road that can be travested by walking. At the edge between where it’d be too cold to climb due to cold, this mountainous region is filled with green hills with plenty of grass and plenty of winds. Here, many bird-Pokémon enjoys floating on the winds or eating small bugs in the many botches of grass around in this area reasonably untouched by human hands. In the north, the jagged peaks of Mt. Strength looms, but to the south the far taller frozen mountain range of Mt. Chill towers above… but that doesn’t affect those who travel this windy road right now. [color=e38b62]‘Lucky won last race, and Empress had a winning streak before that. Biscuit will always be annoyed at whoever just won, more annoyed the more they’ve won in a row. Lucky has a tendency to exhaust herself when she wins, so she rarely wins twice in a row. However, Biscuit will still go for her, and Empress is between Biscuit and Lucky. Now, Empress is usually skilled enough to avoid Biscuit, but she rarely performs well right after a loss due to the shock of losing a long winning streak, like the one she just had. As such, I believe the winner will be…’[/color] Valerie held out her money and made her bet. [color=e38b62]‘… Zodiac. He seems to have his heads on straight, today,’[/color] she said, like she had solved the puzzle, her own hand going over to pat the Togepi as she did. [color=ffeba8]‘Toge!’[/color] Togepi called. And so, the Dodrios got into a row. Order was Zodiac, Biscuit, Grassball, Empress, Lucky, like the order of the bettings. Now, after a bit of preparation, a Bronzong’s bell was hit to call the beginning of the race… And Biscuit starts the entire thing by ramming to the right, because that’s apparently allowed. He misses Grassball, mostly because Grassball’s heads were still squabbling, but it took Biscuit straight into the side of Empress, who then carried them off into Lucky, the three heads of Lucky blinking in surprise before they were all bashed into the wall. The only Dodrio to actually dash on was Zodiac. [color=e38b62]‘… And there we have it,’[/color] Valerie said with a smile. [color=e38b62]‘Honestly, sometimes it all turns so predict-’[/color] Valerie stopped talking, because Zodiac suddenly turned around right before the finish line. Togepi was still smiling at Claire. Biscuit came skipping over, the only real survivor of the crash he had arranged for. There was somewhat of a glaredown taking place between the riders and the Dodrios, two out of three Biscuit heads giving what sounded like mocking laughter at Zodiac, whose heads were looking at Biscuit with what appeared to be malice… [color=e38b62]‘… Oh, no,’[/color] Valerie said, realizing. [color=e38b62]‘Zodiac had enough. He… always did state his distaste for winning due to Biscuit…’[/color] The two Dodrios charged one another, one with heavy justice and the other just enjoying being placed in this situation… [color=e38b62]‘… But… Zodiac can’t beat Biscuit…’[/color] Valerie stated out her realization… … And so it was. Zodiac might be stronger, but Biscuit didn’t know the meaning of fair fighting. While the audience shouted the name of their preferred winner, Zodiac attacked with regular Fury Attacks… but Biscuit countered by using Pluck, aimed like [i]one of Zodiac’s six eyes was a berry[/i]. Biscuit then proceeded to entangle them while Zodiac was in pain, wrapping leg over and tripping the other Dodrio. This… was when Empress came running, having finally recovered from the crash and was dashing to go past the battle and finish first. It really looked like- Biscuit threw Zodiac in a perfect manner to crash him into Empress and the two hit the wall in what looked like a really painful manner. Two out of three of Biscuit’s heads laughed as they pranced over the finishing line. [center][color=6ecff6][i]Claire won 1000 coins![/i][/color][/center] For a total of 2030 coins. [color=ffeba8]‘Togepi!’[/color] Togepi called out happily. Valerie turned her gaze to look at the blissfully ignorant Pokémon. It’s very fast, its acceleration from takeoff is famously high, though can only reach max speed when its flame sack’s gotten warm enough. When feeding it sets grass on fire from its beak, and then feeds on the bugs jumping out in fright.[/i][/color][/center] [color=e38b62]‘You know what to do,’[/color] Valerie commanded, while she was taking out a bottle of Fresh Water and pouring it into the bowl. Fletchinder nodded, and pulled its wings around the bowl, heating it up with Flame Body. Valerie then lifted and gently placed the surprised Togepi into the heated water… [color=ffeba8]‘Togeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…’[/color] Togepi breathed out as he was allowed a very nice warm bath, a little comfortable smile on the little Pokémon present. Valerie then gave it an Oran Berry, Togepi blinking happily and then accepting the berry to eat as a snack in the pool. [color=e38b62]‘Only the best for my precious companion,’[/color] Valerie said, smiling oh, so kindly at Togepi. [color=ffeba8]‘Togepi~!’[/color] Togepi called, happily. Fletchinder was dutifully heating the water still. [color=e38b62]‘Now, then…’[/color] Valerie turned to Claire. [color=e38b62]‘It seems you have a 1000 coin head start, as the result of the most violent “race” I’ve ever seen. Very well. I would have simply matched your bet in all the races, but I feel forced to ask how many coins you started with? If I bet more than that, it would be fundamentally unfair,’[/color] Valerie said, something sharp in her tone now. Claire proved to be a challenger, after all. The Dodrios are brought back to the starting point. Most look pretty messed up after Biscuits last performance, though. Zodiac looks out of it, Lucky looks confused and Empress looks angry. Biscuit still hasn’t stopped laughing, and Grassball looks… normal. For now. Now the starting order from left to right is… Biscuit, Zodiac, Empress, Lucky, Grassball. Odds are… Grassball (x100) < Biscuit (x10) < Lucky (x5) < Zodiac (x2) < Empress (x1.4) So. Claire’s next bet? Valerie will insist on betting after her. As demonstrated, with the exception of outside interference, anything goes on the Dodrio tracks. Only rule is to start at the same time and first one that crosses the finish-line wins. Usually racing is just a lot faster than trying to fight the others, though.
