While some people preferred to be gifted gold and jewels, she found that instruments of death and war were ever the superior a gift. There had definitely been times as a small girl that she had begged her father and mother for some new instrument of torture - insisting that it would be a family bonding experience - only to be told to wait for her birthday. "Dear Millicent, you are stronger than you could possibly know," Virginia reassured her friend. As the ginger and the blonde entered the Church, Virginia observed that Millicent seemed to recognize the pair. It could have been from any number of places, so she didn't make any assumptions as to how recent the acquaintance was. She then saw something remarkable. As if the Dark Mother herself had decided to manifest within the confines of the Church, Virginia saw a specter appear with a scythe. Its dark eyes met hers and Virginia met the creature's gaze without fear. Death did not scare her - when she died, she would move onto another plane of existence and have even more adventures. She feared death only for her brother, as she wanted him to be able to grow and learn and thrive here on this world - to prepare him to step further into the darkness in the next. Virginia flinched slightly at the ungodly shriek, tempted to hold her ears but like a child seeing Father Christmas, she was transfixed. "Have you ever seen something so enchanting?" Virginia asked Millicent with a wide smile. However, she saw Millicent's eyes going upwards and Virginia followed her gaze, seeing the monstrous thing up in the rafters as she pulled her axes, ready for a fight. It was obviously a supernatural being - it seemed to be the direct counter to the Ostanavlivat'sya that Elizaveta performed. "So much for idle talk," Virginia lamented. It was time to resume the fight. She ignored the person who wanted to leave the Church. In her experience, a creature like this would find them again - and where would they even run to? Her job was to see to it that Colette located Millicent - and then to discretely gather what information she could to bring back to the Lady Kirkpatrick. "Aye, de Lady Kirkpatrick is well. I was sent ter accompany Lady Colette 'ere," Maeve told Millicent, forgetting for a moment Colette's surname. It then came back to her - de la Fontaine. Oh well, Lady Colette was sufficient enough for her. She doubted Colette would take an issue with it, since she seemed to be relatively down to earth, if not naive. However, things were hardly calm. They had seen a horrifying sight on the way here and now there was a growl from the rafters. She drew her shillelagh, getting into a fighting position and ready to fight whatever came their way. The entire experience with the prayers someone was doing was unsettling to say the least and Maeve hadn't seen anything like any of this. It could have been some sort of dark witchcraft or something that was going on - it certainly was nothing she had seen when she trained in Ireland and she had never heard of anything like this. "What de 'ell is going' on 'ere?" Maeve demanded, a bit of fire in her eyes. She had a daughter to survive for.
