Next after that was a family, she’s part way there. She has her daughter, now all she needs is someone to love her. Fears: Not beating her illness was always the big one. Leaving Rhea without a mother is her current. History: “a little firecracker” Roxanne Williams came into this world one hot as all hell Sunday afternoon in Gatling, Texas. She was the only child of Carson and Cathy Williams, who owned and operated a local restaurant. Right from the off, Roxy was a little firecracker; blonde haired dressed up in pigtails, a mischievous grin and a fearless attitude. If there was any kind of mischief to be done, there was no doubt that little miss Roxy would have her hand in it. Shortly after her birth, the Williams discovered that they would be unable to conceive another child so they made sure that Roxanne was always taken care of. Never spoiled but always adored, naive little red believed that this was how everyone should be treated and thus her credence was born; treat others like kings and queens and it will be returned to you in spades. First grade assembly, Roxanne scoped the room for someone interesting and found herself side by side with a bespectacled cat named Eli; she smiled at him and he smiled back and thus she had made her first friend and set the tone for her entire future. In middle school, Roxy quickly became the queen of the castle, popular but kind, she has a habit of taking in lost young things, making their world a little bit brighter and then sending them back out into the world. One such project was Cyrus Kingsley. She had been off school for a little while with pneumonia and when she returned, she saw the young boy and felt a pang in her heart, that day she told him to sit next to her at lunch; he stayed in that same seat until the day they graduated. Cyrus was the first recruit into the island of misfit toys yes but the second, a perfect storm called Nellie soon became Roxanne’s person; no one would ever know her or love her like Helena. She was the sister she never had. Hana was the next misfit and she literally became Roxy’s child, the fiery mastermind had to protect this girl with her life, she just had to. When Ravi, a new exotic import and a rarity in predominantly white Gatling turned up, the ever people obsessed Ro just had to know him. Sitting next to him first at lunch and then getting her new friend also to sit with him like a swarm of hungry lions, devoured his soul and he soon became part of their collective. “a force of nature” The summer before high school, Roxanne made two giant leaps in life; she dyed her hair red for the first time and she met her fourth best friend Diana Lancaster, fresh off the plane from Rhode Island and now slumming it in Gatling, Texas. Now a powerful group of girls and Elias, the newly christened sex bombs very swiftly esdtablished themselves as leaders within the school hierarchy. Even with what, they never let it go to their heads and we’re often looked upon as a group to rely on and aspire to be in. When she joined the cheerleading squad, a hurricane met a tsunami as Roxy crosses paths with Harper a girl that was fearless and all kinds of trouble; they would certainly cause all kinds of chaos together that was obvious. It was also through cheerleading that Roxanne met a handsome young cowboy named Dusty. Like everyone, she fell hard for those damn eyes but it was kind of a rule of thumb at Gatling high, at least once everyone fucked Dusty. After the briefest of dalliances, Dustin became a part of the misfits. In the midst of her sophomore year, Roxy and Ravi soon found themselves in a relationship. It was her first and she had picked the perfect guy to take care of her. Also in her sophomore year, her parents decided to adopt another child and were blessed (or cursed) with the arrival of troubled teen Adam Perry. Adam and Ro had a difficult start but eventually found their way to becoming brother and sister. During the four years she and her friends were in high school, so many things happened that seemed straight out of a movie or a TV show that it inspired Roxy to pursue a writing career when she graduated. There were fist fights, dodgy teachers, guns and a whole lot of football all of which was perfect inspiration. One final twist in the tale really brought Roxy’s whole world crashing down. She had been feeling fairly weak in the run up to graduation and had to take some time off. After some tests, she was diagnosed with early onset Huntington’s disease and was given a life expectancy of fifteen years. As someone so full of life, this devastated Roxanne and really broke her. Unable to bring herself to tell her friends, on graduation day she found herself pushing them away to protect them or protect herself she was never really sure. This lead her into the arms of a one “Shotgun” Jack Palminteri; Gatlings golden boy and the QB1 of the previous years graduates. After cheating on Ravi with Jack, bridges were broken and the girl who had everyone now had nothing and no one. “a shit hole called home” Roxanne’s world in tatters, she wound up attending the University in Austin with Jack and the two began a relationship. He was the first person she told about her diagnosis yet despite her and her families misgivings, he stuck by her. Jack was drafted to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his sophomore year so Roxy transferred to a college closer to him. Whilst there her career began rise and she worked her way up from an internship straight to the writers room of a tv show. Jackie on the other hand, was struggling to make a splash in the NFL and was cut without playing a single game. Shortly after this, Roxanne found out she was pregnant. Unsure of what to do, the young couple were married in Vegas and moved back to Gatling, with Ro being able to work from home and Jack taking a coaching job at their old high school. After moving back to Gatling, Roxy knew it was time to mend fences and began reaching out to her friend and family in order to fox things. For the most part it was easy, she struggled with Adam and Ravi in particular. Adam eventually came round, Ravi however never returned a single message. Eventually Roxanne gave birth to a little girl, Rhea and settled into life as a mother. It was a shit hole but Gatling would always be home. “the end of the affair” Things seemed to be going good for the Palminteri’s; Jack was doing well for himself as a coach, Roxy’s TV show was one of the highest rated in the country and Rhea was growing up fast and sweet. However there was more to their lives than met the publicly eye; Roxy’s disease was getting worse and she was deteriorating faster than expected. Jack, unable to cope turned to long nights at work, which in turn became a sordid affair with a fellow teacher. As soon as Roxy found out, it was the end and Jack was out of the door. She knew all of the golden boys little secrets and she had no qualms telling people if she had to. After some bitter divorce proceedings that lasted about fourteen months, Jack and Roxy’s marriage officially ended. A month later, Roxanne was dead...
