He loves getting to know people, and has no trouble carrying on a conversation. While he’s the go-to guy you'll want to have at any hangout, don't expect anything beyond a surface-level friendship. Yoji prefers to play his cards close to his chest. He's had many friends and acquaintances, but nobody he's ever confided in. Uncle Hanjiro is the only person that truly understands him, but even he doesn't know about his nephew's sleepless bouts of anxiety, or the constant dread of feeling alone, misunderstood. Nevertheless, Yoji brushes his dilemmas aside, buries them somewhere deep, and hides behind his charming smile.

[SUP][SUB]
B A C K S T O R Y:
[/SUB][/SUP]

Yoji Lara Celestino is a Japanese-Cuban American. He was born and raised in Miami, Florida, the only son of Yuriokis and Kamiko Celestino. His parents immigrated from Cuba in their early twenties. The couple stayed with Kamiko's brother, Hanjiro Inoue. They helped out with his food truck business called Entre Dos Islas (Between Two Islands), and worked extra jobs on the side to stay afloat. By the time Yoji was twenty, Hanjiro decided to expand Entre Dos Islas to the west coast in Sol city, handing the current business in Miami over to Yoji’s parents. Things were going well for the Celestinos. Business was booming, and Yoji just qualified for the US Olympic boxing team after years of hard work in the amateurs. Then, on the eve of Yuriokis and Kamiko's anniversary, Hanjiro told them over the phone that he wouldn't be able to attend the celebration. He revealed that he had thyroid cancer, and would start his first rounds of chemo very soon. Yoji and his parents all agreed that he needed help. There was no way Yoji would let him go through something like that alone. “Happy” Hanjiro meant the world to him. Without hesitation, Yoji left everything behind and took a greyhound to Sol city. His father and Uncle were against the move. They both wanted him to compete in the olympics, but Yoji knew it was the only way. Neither one of his parents were fit for the stress of not only taking care of Hanjiro, but also running the business in Sol, especially when they needed to keep the Miami location running. He figured there’d always be another chance to try out in the future. Some things just took precedent over others, and taking care of family was one of those things. Six months since his move to Sol, Yoji helps run the food truck while assisting Uncle Hanjiro with his recovery. He’s also taking on a couple of side jobs to help pay for his medical expenses, as well as a few other loan debts piling up. Yoji finds solace in creativity, often decompressing from the stressful grind by sculpting, or dabbling in photography. While he sees himself inheriting the family business, he's also passionate about creating art, and possibly trying out for the olympics again. The future feels uncertain as he’s torn between fulfilling family obligations, and doing what he loves. For now, he's taking it one day at a time, focusing solely on Uncle Hanjiro and his health. It still runs as a truck with wheels, and isn’t stationary like how it’s shone in the image. The vehicle is a remodeled armored bank truck. It has two large side panels that can drop down, serving as dining platforms, though one side is usually reserved for to-go orders. The banners on the roof of course have the name, Entre Dos Islas, instead of Food Truck Menu, with silhouettes of the Japanese-Cuban cuisines they have on the menu. The loud speakers are usually playing lofi, or other types of relaxing and upbeat instrumentals. Oldest of four siblings, he was the first of his family to venture into the states. He started as a Dishwasher and worked his way up to Sous Chef at the La Verona Restaurant in Miami, Florida. Hanjiro eventually took his skills and creative ingenuity to the food truck industry, and opened the first ever Entre Dos Islas in the heart of downtown Miami. His fusion street food became a hit staple for the city, and is slowly growing in popularity at its second location in Sol.
