She then told her, "I'll explain as we walk on. But for now, don't worry about the thief here. Jackson's got him under control," As she walked on, she would explain the chain of events she went through to Pylia. 

Of course, she kept her eyes on the prize. She was going to find both Mariam and the Guards at the same time. She wanted to hand over the items to Mariam, and show her and the guards that she had caught the real thief, and thus the kobold should be released.
