No tattoos, but her arms and fingers are dotted with various scars from skin-picking. Her eyes are a dull blue—pale gray in dim and regular lighting, a soft blue in brighter environments. For casual purposes, she often wears a thin sky-blue hoodie, old sweatpants, plain white socks, and faded navy-blue sneakers. For work, she wears some old t-shirt, the same sweatpants, a gray vest, and newer black ankle boots (without heels).
[sup][sub]
Personality
[/sub][/sup]
Lyre is the classic "genius loner" with an unconventional upbringing and personality. She is blunt and speaks her mind, never hesitant to point out flaws. Her expression is consistently stoic and her voice matches its monotony; however she just tends to emote in other ways, like absentminded fidgeting or through the cadence of her speech. Lyre has always been hyperfixated on finding answers to the things she doesn't know. Her powerful self-sufficiency when it comes to research, as well as her organizational skill and strong deduction, are byproducts of her insatiable curiosity. Despite her genius intellect, Lyre has a hard time navigating social situations. Unable to read between the lines, she often doesn't know what others want from her. This doesn't stop her from trying to socialize when others approach her, though she doesn't seek out company on her own. Lyre enjoys teamwork due to its efficiency when done well. Unfortunately she cannot handle conflict, being both unempathetic and usually unapproachable for these types of issues. Lyre shows no interest in politics. Despite accepting a confidential commission by the government, she doesn't really know or care about much of its inner workings. To her, politics runs on money, not morals. Lyre also hates administration, both working as an authority and taking orders from one. Though she does prefer group settings over solitary work, cooperation is key. Unnecessary power dynamics make her feel uncomfortable. When stressed, Lyre can be either unresponsive or extremely bitchy. She tends to get irritated more easily, and might even have public breakdowns in bad cases. Anything can cause her stress, from deadlines to hindered progress to physical injury to even just a crooked picture frame.
[sup][sub]
Experiences
[/sub][/sup]
Lyre had a relatively normal upbringing, though had a hard time in school. Due to her outspoken nature, she was notorious for causing fights and hated answering to the teachers. Classwork never challenged her, and Lyre lost faith in education. She never went to class, instead hiding in the library or on the playground. Because of her prolonged absences and problematic behavior, she switched schools multiple times, all the while trying to jump grade levels and drowning in the paperwork for it. In her eyes, what was the point of an education if it couldn't go at her pace? Lyre caused enough stress for her parents that they were often irritable around her. Her nitpicky habits amplified around her family. Once, when she was six years old, her father ordered her to leave their home because she annoyed him so much. Lyre really exited and left, but it was a minor incident. Her mother and father were always both loving and responsible individuals. Nobody was hurt, but being demanded to leave was one of Lyre's most prominent childhood memories. Finally, she found a place at a boarding school filled with "gifted children" like her. It was a regular education but also like a trade school - one took lessons, and if they had an interest or predisposition to any particular field, this school turned them into world-class specialists. Lyre had played with computers before, but programming became her life there. Though academics were finally a fit for Lyre, she still lacked social skills. A school for gifted children was naturally competitive. With plenty of arrogant kids gathered in one place, it was next to impossible to make friends without directly approaching someone. So, like many others, she kept quiet and worked alone. The government sought her out when she was fifteen, asking her to brew up some special lifeform. Though confused why they chose to hire a computer scientist for this type of work, Lyre attributed that to the average person's stupidity and accepted the commission. For another year she studied and experimented—which turned out successfully. She even managed to complete her project with enough time to attempt to add genetic ornaments and tweaks to her creation, the results of which turn out rather unexpected....
