The western island is certainly jam packed with all kinds of races, but from knowledge you don't have, the whole 2 people who started on the eastern island are pretty much on starter island: rivers and fertile farming fields, lush forests and grasslands teeming with prey.

Meanwhile the virgin western island has a massive acidic lake (jk, I'm still cracking up on Raylah's quip), arid grasslands and sparse forestation, a notable lack of rivers and the abundance of smaller hills to impede travel :lol

Joking aside, everybody managed to avoid the bad parts of the eastern island, and the not bad parts are 10/10 spots. And one member I shall not name managed to pretty much get the start that equals double barb camp in Civ IV. Ouch. But don't worry, papa sly will help them out :D
