Long ago, discussing the nicknames Americans have for people from different states, and what the "official" name for such people are. I am from Connecticut! Our official name is "Connecticutian." One nickname is "Nutmeggers" (we are the Nutmeg State), another is... something less family-friendly. 

The topic of the word "Yankee" came up as a nickname for Americans in general from non-Americans, and in the US for Northern states, and in Northern states for people from New England in general (even though NY has a baseball team of 'Yankees' it's a New England term apparently!)... and from there it breaks down even more for CT or VT people. Well I like the word. Been "Yankee" online for many years now :sun
