She sometimes wears violet colored contact lens, but when she isn't, her eyes are hazel brown and she has black rectangular glasses. She stands at 5'7 and 142 lbs and she has a surprisingly fit body. However, it is obvious that she's constantly tired. She's always slouching and there are bags under her eyes and her movements are usually sluggish but she has her bouts of alertness. Despite this, Maria does like to dress sharply most of the time but sometimes, they look as disheveled as she feels. 【 Why are you at Spring Hill? 】 Maria constantly battles with distressing nightmares from her childhood, so much so that it has induced severe insomnia which often leads to visual hallucinations. For a long time, Maria has been trying to cure her insomnia and her persistent nightmares. When she heard about Spring Hill from a friend who saw the ad, Maria was willing to give it a shot too. 【 Residency 】 Maria has been at Spring Hill for 11 months. 【 Negative Effects 】 "Doctor, can't you hear them? They're getting worse." With the length of time that she has stayed within Spring Hill, her hallucinations have gotten worse, to the point where they have been staying for hours at a time. Both visual and auditory hallucinations seem to nearly be constant; most of them are harmless and simply distracting but obviously false, at their peak, Maria has been known to actually feel the physical pain from these hallucinations. At the eight month, Maria's hair had turned white from the medicine. Maria thinks it was because of the stress. 【 Positive Effects 】 "Do you hear the people sing?" Telepathy The ability to hear other's thoughts and peek into their minds. It takes a considerable effort to be able to dig into someone else's mind aside from their surface thoughts which are often simply things they wish to do or say. This can be used to communicate through only their minds, allowing for secrecy. A certain drawback of this is that there is no 'off' switch, not unless you're completely focusing on it. When not focusing, it would result in tons of surface thoughts assaulting the user at every turn and this becomes especially horrible during times where there are several groups of people around. Reading minds are also particularly taxing and there are ways to be able to tire the telepath first before they get to a certain memory, if you're brave enough to do so. Currently, Maria hears the thoughts of those around her. However, she thinks they are merely part of her auditory hallucinations. She sometimes recognizes that some actions of her peers match her "hallucinations" but she thinks they are coincidences. She sometimes acts upon them but that's just a gut reaction at times. 【 Personality 】 | Helpful | Sensitive | Perceptive | Secretive | Unpredictable | Mistrustful | Distracted | 【 Biography 】 "Success rides on what you're willing to sacrifice and what you're willing to overlook." Maria was not born in the best of families. Insensitive at best, negligent at worst, Maria was practically growing up alone despite having both parents - Gregory and Malinda - come back to the house every day. Thankfully, her younger brother had soon came into the world when she was seven. Maria had sworn to herself that her brother would feel the love she was deprived of. Richard was practically her own child, if anyone would ever tell you a story of their family, since she was practically the one raising him with the money their parents provide them. But why, you might wonder, are they constantly away? The Henderson family has been a big name among the corporations, having been a major stockholder in multiple successful companies as well as owning a clothing company that was opened by their great grandfather. Basically, they were very rich and very busy. People wonder how they're even parents, really, considering their complete disregard for their children aside from giving them financial aid and the occasional question about their school life and if they're doing well in it. They do impart some knowledge to their children as they do expect them to be the ones to inherit the family name and continue the family legacy. Maria was fully willing to accept this so she and Richard did their best to impress, or at least be within sight of their parents. In any case, they lived well enough with the support of each other. When she was thirteen, she and her brother were alone at the house throughout the night because their parents were out of town on a business meeting in another country. She had tucked her brother into bed and was sound asleep in her own room. She wasn't sure what time it had happened but she woke up to a black figure standing beside her friend before being knocked out. The next thing she knew, she was being carried by a man with a blank mask and two others with demonic masks were waiting near a car. She tried to scream and get away but she was gagged and the man was far stronger than her. She was thrown into the car with her brother and then they drove off. The siblings tried to get out but they were knocked out again. They woke up next in a decrepit room, both of them in handcuffs. Maria only remembers segmented portions. Being fed. The men taking them to separate rooms to talk to them. Something about the company? But most that she remembered of it were those masks and their deep voices. And. That time. They killed Richard. Shot him straight through the mouth. Gave her a warning before she was knocked out and found herself back at her parents. There was a funeral. Then it was done. Her parents moved on. She moved on too. That's what everyone believed, at least. Maria had gotten worse and she started to get nightmares every night about the men. All of it became distorted and even worse. Nevertheless, Maria has been relatively successful. She got through her life because her parents had told her too. Of course, she had picked up some medicines to be able to get through tough nights and she did try therapists but nothing seemed to work effectively. For the past few years, Maria's condition had gotten worse to the point where she's been having trouble coping with every day life as her lack of sleep has prevented her from doing anything efficiently. Her parents have stressed that she needed to get herself fixed but gave no solution. Instead, a friend of hers had suggested Spring Hill. Eleven months into the institution and Maria has not shown any signs of getting better - only worse. She's been harboring doubts over the institution for quite some time now but has made no clear moves against them. As for with the other patients, Maria tries to be friendly and cordial towards all of them but has been known to withdraw when her hallucinations are peaking as she tends to lash out at these times. 【 Trivia 】 → Her favorite color is violet and, to a lesser extent, blue. → Her worst hallucinations have been distorted and nightmarish recreations of her kidnappers (bordering demonic depictions) and a ghost-like apparition in the form of her brother. These are the ones that manage to 'harm' her. → Maria gets distressed whenever she sees a full mask.
