He stared down at his opponent through the holes in his fox-shaped mask and merely took on an unarmed cat stance. His left foot and hand pointed towards the man he faced while his foot pointed away, causing a right angle to be created between his feet. His right hand rested on his hip, awaiting the oncoming attack. Kuroi's hand rested on the guard of his weapon - a metal fan to be exact. Gods know how suicidal it would be to use a metallic fan against an expert fencer but it was the only thing the martial artist had left. His projectiles spent, his sword out of reach, and his rope darts cut in half; the whole situation seemed hopeless for him. Kuroi's resolve did not waver and neither did the cat stance he had moved into. His left hand was shaped like a finger gun, pointed directly at the man he glared down. It was the last round of the tournament, Kuroi versus the expert fencer everyone had cheered on since the beginning. Were it twenty or so years earlier, the crowds would be cheering for him! Alas, lineage, no matter how prestigious, began to falter when it came to Roshmi City's combat sports. Still, his bloodline was not without merit, nor without skill. The fencer tightened the grip around his rapier and parry dagger before rushing off towards Kuroi. Twenty feet. Fifteen feet. Ten feet. The young duelist quickly broke stance and slid his hand into the opening of his gi's trim, reaching for his metal fan. With a flick of the wrist and a quick outwards wipe, the fan unfolded perfectly into his. With exact timing and precision, Kuroi threw his fan at the fencer's offhand. Were it not for his opponent closing distance, the fan would have missed its target. A cry of pain came from Kuroi's opponent and the advance on him slowed. The parrying dagger dropped to the floor, its hilt coated in its owner's blood. Crimson red enveloped the fencer's left forearm as the fan had created a flawless slice across his vein. Kuroi spun in a counter-clockwise position, simultaneously moving forward towards his opponent and bobbing downwards whilst his left hand reached for the other fan that hung from his waist. Upon finishing his spin, he met the flat of his unfolded fan against the rapier. Metal met metal, and the momentum of the spin caused the rapier to be knocked to the side, giving Kuroi a chance to move into his opponent's guard. Kuroi spun around once more, folding his left arm and sending a powerful horizontal spinning elbow into his opponent's jawline. With his back pressed up against the fencer's body, his right hand checked the fencer's armed hand, making sure counter-strikes wouldn't be an option. He suddenly jerked his head back and slammed the crown of his head into his opponent's nose, further disorienting the fencer. Kuroi finished his spin and used the flat of the fan to smack the opponent right across the cheek. As the strike went through the opponent, Kuroi quickly flicked his wrist once more and closed the fan. His right hand grabbed onto the back of his opponent's head as he slammed his left elbow into the man's temple. The fencer's knees suddenly buckled and Kuroi allowed him to drop onto the ground - a successful victory. Kuroi unfolded his fan and shot his hand outwards, letting out a cry of victory.
Time: After Midnight Location: Roshmi City Now fully re-equipped with all of his belongings, Kuroi took his leave with a pouch full of gold and more prestige added onto his and his family's name. Tonight was indeed a good night, one that may have resulted in a loss, but one that resulted in a grandiose, dramatic victory instead. Celebrations would be held at the nearest tavern he could find, and a-searching for one he did go!
