Elsea is very much an extrovert as she enjoys talking to anyone she comes across and can easily make friends. Due to this mixed with the fact that she wasn’t ever afraid to speak her mind caused others in her home to call her beguiling. She tends to fall in the middle of being selfless and selfish, though she tends to lean more towards being selfless. Her first instinct is to jump in and help someone in need, unless they have wronged her. If that’s the case then good luck ever getting any help from her. She has quite the kind soul and will do what she can to protect those close to her. 

Unfortunately Elsea does have quite the temper and tends to lash out verbally, not knowing when to hold her tongue. She is very strong willed and often defied social norms of her home which is ultimately what lead to her demise. She definitely isn’t the most patient woman in the world, however she isn’t completely impatient either. She likes to say she has a good balance between being patient and impatient. Many would consider her brave as she won’t back down from a challenge, however some may also call her stupid for this because she doesn’t know when to back down. She’s quick to reacting and adapting to a situation, however she is not a fighter by any means and so if it were to come to that her reaction would be to find a way out of there.
 
If you consider intelligence being whether she can read and write then yes she is quite intelligent, however if it comes to strategizing she isn’t quite skilled in that. She’s never had to strategize in her life and thus lacks experience in the cunning side of things. She is quite charismatic, however, in a way where she can be friends with almost anyone. Her kind and friendly demeanor often draws people to her. She can also have quite a sense of humor, enjoying a good joke and laughing at others jokes. She’s quite a bubbly and energetic person, yet very stubborn and hardheaded. She holds firm in her belief in the old druidic ways, however she would never force anyone into believing the same as her.

Elsea was born in the early spring of the year 1574 along with her twin brother Leith in the Scottish Highlands. They were the last born children of Brigid and Dougal Baird and were loved dearly. Unfortunately Leith didn't make it through his first three springs as he fell ill the winter before he was to turn three. The loss of her twin brother only made Elsea's parents hold her ever closer.

Dougal was a man with conflicting beliefs, having converted to Catholicism long before Elsea was born. He still held onto the superstitious beliefs of the little folk and the changeling children. He always wore a rabbit's foot under his clothing in hopes that it would protect him. Brigid, on the other hand, never truly converted and secretly taught her daughter the pegan teachings of the druids. Elsea seemed to cling to this belief and the belief in the Old Gods, learning how to perform rituals to appease them and the fae folk.

She grew into quite the pretty thing and she found favor amongst many of the men, however she never accepted an offer of marriage nor did her father have the heart to force his precious daughter into anything. So she went about her life, learning from her mother and father about the different plants and their uses. Soon she was helping in the apothecary while secretly making potions on the side for those who knew to ask.

In the spring of 1597, shortly after her 23rd birthday, the Great Witch Hunt began and immediately there were suspicions of her. Soon the religious figures began building a case against her. Her bold and outspoken nature caused them to claim she had the Devil's tongue. Then men who were caught fooling around with women other than their wives began blaming her, claiming she put a hex on them causing them to defile themselves. Others came forward out of fear revealing her selling of potions, but it wasn't until she was caught in the middle of a ritual dance for the faeries that she was arrested.

She spent two weeks imprisoned as they awaited the arrival of the witch hunter. He quickly confirmed she was a witch due to a small birthmark on her thigh and sentenced to burn at the stake. That was when she decided she was doomed and began to claim she was a witch if only to scare all of them. She claimed to be cursing them, that she would rise from the flames and take her vengeance on them all as she was dragged to the stake. It was then that the rift opened and she was sucked in.
