The man grunts and folds a leg back and hooks his foot around Jacob's chin, bucks until he gets Jacob up long enough to shift. He slides his other leg out from under Jacob and lands an armbar. He pushes Jacob's arm down over his knee until a loud crack can be heard. Ivy jumps from her seat, her eyes blazing as her face sets into terrifying fury.

Winter rests her head on his shoulder, her voice is quiet as she says, "I don't want to be afraid anymore."
