The sphinx dies 

Kerian rides the Griffin into the mesh and jumps off as it breaks the mesh allowing everyone to use their powers as the runes and hieroglyphs broke and water poured out and shadows were tossed. Kerian steers the Griffin back to the ground using some mesh to choke it.
