Other The son of a minor nobleman in the barren eastern lands, Baelon grew up in the lessor aristocracy, with a family that possessed more honor and pride than wealth and sense. The House of Rynor was small, but well known for their courage, and their ancestral seat of Dragonsbane was the home of the Amber Bow, the weapon used by Baelon's ancestors to slay the mighty Urnporok Dragon menace of the east. Back before the Winged Defenders the members of Rynor prided themselves as beastslayers, and many horns, skins, and talons of fallen dragons adorn their hall as trophies from past conquests. As it could be imagined, the Rynor were furious at the suggestion that dragons and the Kingdom of Tur would form any sort of alliance, and the once loyal house abandoned the Kingdom of Tur in favor of the Five Kingdoms. Baelon's father's and uncles joined their banners with and fought alongside the five kings, and were slain on the battlefield for their rebellion. Amidst the carnage the Amber Bow was lost, and a great majority of the family were killed. The devastation left young Baelon Rynor the head of his family, and when the queen's forces arrived at Dragonsbane Keep he was forced to surrender the castle and himself into the Turish army's custody. Since that day he has never returned home, living as a hostage in the kingdom's capital, forcefully sworn to serve the Queen as a loyal servant henceforth. His unique position in the court forced Baelon to prove himself a loyal man time and again, yet never was he able to shake the malicious title of Traitorskin, bestowed upon him by the capitals other squires and young noblemen, who viewed him and his family unworthy of continued service. At long last Baelon was offered the opportunity to truly demonstrate he had moved past his family's rebellion by serving as a guardsman in the Winged Defender's Keep. After several years of standing a unmarred vigil he was given the chance to earn his own dragon in the Right of Dragons. Baelon is determined to restore his family's honor by any means necessary, and prove once and for all he is no traitor to Tur. His fire burns hot, and orange plumes of wicked flames burst from his mane and tail and claws, while his scales themselves simmer with uncomfortable warmth. He is as tenacious as a dragon could be, proud and wroth as his name suggests, all with the undying loyalty oft associated with Stoker dragons. Weaknesses Due to his balanced capacity Rath lacks concentrated strengths, making him weak in the places other dragons are strong. Frigid temperatures are also a concern to the cold blooded dragon, as although his internal fire burns bright submergence in cold water or snow, or even flying at great altitudes in frosty low oxygen air makes him sluggish, and eventually Rath would perish from cold paralysis. In social situations Rath can be antagonistic, proud and vain, making him unlikable to most. Other Even by dragon standards Rath is annoying. Remarkably thin skinned for a beast with such strong scales he is quick to wrathful action against those who he considers insulting, and vengeful against any man or dragon who maligns him. Boastful and warlike he is infamous amongst his nest-kin for antagonizing others and goading them into spats and scuffles, making him something of a bully, but a jealous bully. He is unforgiving of those who attempt to do the same to those he considers 'his' to irritate, and defensive of his brothers and sisters by blood and in arms.
