No, really, if you don't mind the people complaining, life's really good.

EDIT: which doesn't actually address the issue of political liberalism. There are great social benefits, a high minimum wage (around 12.5$/hour), very strict laws protecting labor, gay marriage now, official anti-sexism policies. We do pride ourselves on integrating anyone willing into the "republican" community, but I don't know if we're really that good at it though. Anyway there are plenty immigrants and descendants of immigrants from the ex-colonial states.
