The scars on his face are mostly from shrapnel. Under his gear is a weird mishmash of tattoos and burns...and burned tattoos. Perhaps it's due to his time as a soldier, but he takes orders almost religiously and his regard for his life pretty much only stems from the Captain's insistence that death isn't an option. His level headed-ness pretty much only cracks when it comes to explosives. Many have described combination of joy and concentration that takes over his face when he's planting explosives is hinging on demonic. Being a bit of a veteran member of Falchion, he's naturally rather protective over those that he serves with. He often takes an older brother role among alot of soldiers...even if many of them are terrified of him when it comes to blowing things up. Of course, the expectations leveled on him by his dad's 'legacy' made his life almost unbearable. The only real enjoyment he took in the corps were in exercises involving explosives. He showed considerable aptitude with demolition and crowd control exercises, eventually leading to his assignment to the Union's 'Helltroopers', a covert force in charge of the destruction of rebel strongholds. Of course, things couldn't be that easy. After being sent to eliminate an enemy fortress, his platoon was intercepted by the forces of Falchion and rather easily wiped out. Badly injured, Dmitri crawled to the detonator without regard for his own life. A foot on his back stopped his crawl, and when he looked to the source he saw a woman in what looked to be a captain's uniform standing over him with a pistol aimed at his head. Even with a boot firmly planted on his back and the detonator several feet away, he still attempted to drag himself to it. He didn't try to defend himself from his assailant, nor did he really show her any anger for her killing his allies...he just tried to reach the detonator. The Captain sighed and holstered her pistol before administering a swift kick to the man's head and ordering her soldiers to give him medical attention. When he came to, he noticed he was fully bandaged and sitting right in front of the detonator he had been reaching for before he had been knocked out. Without hesitating, he lunged for it and armed the bombs that had been planted all around the stronghold. A moment later the entire thing was blasted to smithereens and Dmitri collapsed back into a heap with a big grin on his face and passed back out. Of course, the Captain had allowed this to happen. After all, they had gotten what they were contracted for...and seeing the man's determination alongside the fruits of his labor had already essentially made her decide that it would be a waste to put him down. He agreed to join up with Falchion the moment he was asked. He immensely appreciated being allowed to complete his mission despite being utterly defeated. The Union believed he and his whole platoon were dead anyway, so this seemed like a great opportunity to escape the suffocation of his father's expectations. A few years down the road he had become one of the Captain's trusted Lieutenants. The money Falchion provided meant that every mission that required his expertise would be subject to intense overkill. Including his own father's assassination... The programmable explosives can be swapped between high explosive, impact detonated, and remote detonated. Its main purpose is to allow Dmitri to be closer to the fruits of his labor. Of course, it's not quite as controlled as a jetpack, but it allows him to get to harder to reach places when doing demolition work. It's not that he's the quiet type, it's just usually the easiest way for him to express his opinion.
