"Ngh." The girl in the covers repeated, this time with greater emphasis. Between Dana's comments and the vibrating of her phone she had been roused enough from her sleep to start trying to untangle herself from the woven net of sheets and covers she found herself within. She'd done a lot of irritated tossing and turning after getting back from their lecture, at which she had done only the minimum of arguing with the faculty.

You can't argue with idiots in power. Whoever remarked about chess with pigeons had it right.

Anonymous angry letters stapled to their office doors, on the other hand, could be satisfying. Drafting such a response had been enough to lull her back to sleep for a brief time, but now there was no helping it. She had to get up.

"I won't wrinkle." Rebekah remarked stubbornly, blinking the sleep out of her eyes and hauling herself to her side of the bed. Her phone had been on the nightstand since she got back, and beheld a most welcome message:

>Making food
>Grab a bite if you guys want
>Faculty's retarded

A lone finger tapped out a succinct, and singularly unhelpful, reply.

>Five.

"Highwind has food." She announced, feet finally hitting the floor. One hand found her brush and the other found Dana's waist after a few steps, much at the same time as her lips found Dana's cheek. "Good morning, dear. I need to put a shirt back on, fix my hair a little, and let's go liberate it from his control."

Time: Morning
Location: Apollo’s Cafe
Interactions: Golden Girl@Altered Tundra

She entered in a rush—hair as golden as the sun with a glimpse of an enchanting smile that Gus hoped to see again, even just one more time before she would leave in the same hurry as which she entered with. Gus snickered at her demand at the counter, hearing her request for her blueberry muffin with such urgency. ‘Cute,’ he thought to himself as the employee scrambled to fetch her muffin to fulfill her dire need.

Gus’ gaze remained locked on her, strangely allured by her presence, as if he could see the light of her aura radiating with emotion. Emotions that would only offer comfort and tranquility, opposite of the usual intimidation that he felt from every other student. Before he knew it, his eyes were following her, his head eventually turning until he was staring straight ahead and across the two-person table that they, now, both occupied. Gus stared, for what would seem like an hour, in awe of her. She emitted such a strong, genuine beauty, but it was conducted by such a gentle sincerity that drew him in like the sunrise—the comforting glow of the sun after the cold darkness of night. Though he would hope to further assume her personality, to be that of heartwarming and kind, he looked away quickly before she would notice. Gus cleared his throat, pretending to not be affected by her strange tenor, his eyes reflecting in the sun to gloss over his deep, brown eyes. Yet, they stood no chance to hers, crystalline and captivating.

She broke the ice with a proper, unexpected introduction. As the words escaped her lips, he succumbed to the urge to give a faint smirk in response to her presence—but such a smirk was short-lived as he was faced with reality again by the words of her greeting.

The Daughter of Apollo. Gus wasn’t going to even pretend like he knew who Apollo was, but thoughts in regards to him specifically would be quickly dismissed as his own godly father came to mind. He took a breath, trying to thwart his lingering feelings of unease for the sake of the conversation, but if she would be observant enough, she’d be able to sense his hesitation. He thought about his own introduction, and what was considered etiquette in Olympus Academy for a proper, expected greeting. But he still felt numb to the events of his life, staggered by the shock of his truth, so his greeting fell flat and uninteresting.

“I’m Gus,” he replied simply, the deep rasp of his timbre helping to make him come across as much older than he is. His calloused hand took hers, giving a soft shake, and then releasing.

For a second, he let the interaction become quickly awkward as his eyes fell to the floor. But he finally let his mind flee from the constant angst that filled it and turned his attention to the golden girl—Vivian, ‘Daughter of Apollo’. He rubbed off the buttery crumbs that transferred to his hand, and then rubbed the back of his neck to try to play off the gesture, his white t-shirt clinging tight to his muscularity. Gus let out a short chuckle and lifted his eyes to meet hers, “So, Vivian, do you always get a muffin in the morning with such urgency?”

The comment was half-interested and half-flirtatious.

"C'mon, baby, you know I love you too much to hit you. C'mere."

Dallas let out a long sigh of relief and frustration, running his hands through thick, unruly blonde hair until the bangs fell along his forehead and eyes in tufts. They would serve to cushion his landing when he flopped face first, arms outstretched in a crucifix, onto the metal hood of his Subaru. The metal was warm against his cheek from the heat of the sun.

Dal sighed again.

"Mmmmmm. I mean, maybe I would. But I hit you because I love you." He laid there for a minute, face nuzzling the warm hood. The rage and color in his cheeks was slowly draining from his cheeks into to the vent scoops while he outstretched his legs and attempted to envelop the car in a long, protracted hug, face nuzzling the warming hood of his Japanese imports. This is how Bekah feels...

His iPhone pinged; some voyeur was interrupting their moment.

"Leave us aloooooone."

It was, of course, Dal who had set text messages to notify him twice; he had no one to blame but himself when his phone pinged again. Honestly, some fucking people would never understand the love between a boy and his tuner.

Marcella Bonaparte

It was a little tradition between Dallas and Marcella to kick off the first week of classes with finding some little nook of campus and dining out together. Normally they reserved it for something before or after a party, some starchy diner food to soak up the booze followed by Marcy falling asleep on his chest in the Subaru before things could get too heated. For a girl who wanted to fuck so damn badly, Dal thought she would have learned to moderate herself a little on game night, but that kind of foresight would mean Marcy wasn't Marcy anymore. If she was already hitting him up for brunch, Jonas must have been trying to force everyone to eat clean back at home base. Fucking lunkhead.

It was probably just how he calmed down, though. He had healthier means of expressing his rage than--

Dal's vision trailed up from the Subaru, towards the trail of torn off branches and kicked over benches

--some other people he could have specified.

Fucking autocorrect. Sometimes it made him want to spike his phone through the windshield. Honestly.

He had picked out a sunlit table for four in the Apollo Cafe, feet kicked up lazily on the chair opposite him and head tilted over the back of his seat. He had picked the spot in the cafe with the most natural light, finding it both a salve on his mood and good for his countenance. He felt like his face was glowing right now. Sparkling. Like a Twilight vampire after a trip to Sephora sparkling. The cafe wasn't particularly full, either, which Dal also found appealing. If Marcy was able to pick an outfit before judgment day, maybe they would even be able to bail before the next big rush. But she wasn't here yet, which could only mean that she was being held up with judging the souls from some terrorist attack - never went well for anyone - or she was still trying to decide what color most appealed to his libido.

Tough shit, dumbass. It's razzmatazz.

But with Marcy preoccupied with her Rocky Balboa pre-ciabatta montage, Dallas found himself dangerously bored and still riding the border between irritation and a total righteous crusade. He would need to vent the remaining bad vibes by talking to an equal and opposite source of good ones. Hm.

The song on the radio changed over, from Arctic Monkeys to something by the Neon Trees he didn't think he'd heard in years. Maybe not since he was a virgin - no, after that. Since the first time he'd gotten drunk with Kelsey (that sounded right, actually! Had he already figured that out?) on campus. Would Kelse...y(???) pick up for him this early in the morning? Probably not after he was late to his own gig, definitely not since he got blamed for the lesser demon that couldn't handle the booze. Maybe best to wait a day or two on Kelso.

Hmmmmmmm.

What airhead did he know that was that positive...

What dumb sack of hugs and vibes and could possibly be awake and ready to cheer him up this morning...

It wasn't a hard decision to make. He'd planned on texting her anyway.

"Huh." Dana's mouth tugged into a faint grin at the familiar feeling of an embrace and a peck, tugging away from the daughter of Athena's grasp after a couple seconds. Her eyes, disguised behind the pair of glasses Rebekah wore for purely aesthetic reasons - which meant they were also Dana's for the taking and smizing - glinted with mischief as she turned to face her roommate. Face.

Then everything else.

Then face. Very professional.

"You're going to need to be chic. Presentable. You're a con...conquering hero." Dana's smile grew fuller, pleased with her grasp of the sentence. "Heroes can't show up anywhere in grandma sweaters. You are dressing for my big brother. Don't look like shit."

To punctuate the point, Dana tossed the bra Bekah had discarded in a huff after their morning lecture back into her face.

"Dooon't look like shit," she repeated, a touch more emphatically. Not rude at all. Constructive and loving criticism of a girl whose beauty spoke for itself.

Fuck.

It was his mom’s fault of course. His dad would be furious once he found out. He readjusted his large 80L pack on his aching shoulders and wove his way along the corridors of the main administration building. He was just thankful that he’d dealt with the headmaster rather than his wife. But he’d learnt the hard way that you didn’t want to think like that too loudly on campus. Who knew which of their peers had developed telepathy over the summer break…

His long established relationship with the headmaster over his lack of genuine connection with many peers led him to immediately sense that something was wrong on campus and set out to converse as much as possible. The first possible reason was the news about the dorms. His cynicism at this being another ploy of Hector’s to just get him making more friends or some manipulation of his Grandfather’s to ensure he was cultivating alliances in his final year, was quashed when he saw the full list of 32 guinea pigs. That was a lot of effort for a harmless ruse.

Haluk though. He’d spent some time with the guy over the last few years in some classes but didn’t know him two well. Athenians could be proud and contrary but normally made for stalwart team members, both highly intelligent and physically skilled. Worse matches could have definitely be made!

He assumed the tension would lift after he was told about the experiment but the headmaster merely dismissed him with the promise that his parents would both be contacted to confirm that their son wasn’t himself responsible for his tardiness at starting the term a day late.

His curiosity still not sated, he decided to take a scenic route to his new dorm to try and confirm his hunch. Most likely, the ‘alphas’ has hosted a party and something had gone wrong, but he knew of one place where he knew he’d find the gossip before finding his new room. The Apollo cafe on campus.

As he sidled to the counter he scanned the patrons for familiar faces. He saw many faces he knew, most engaged in post-holiday catch up conversations or timetable comparisons. While waiting for his Lyre Latte, Felix casually listened in on surrounding conversations to try and find out what was transpiring at the school. He came up blank. Maybe it was something big that no students knew about… He spotted Vivian with a blueberry muffin and smiled. Damn her ability. He liked feeling happy, who doesn’t? But the sub-conscious emotion and thought manipulation that was seemingly ever present, made it difficult to know what you actually felt sometimes. He truly didn’t know whether his feelings for Beau, Avem or Dallas were real or just manifestations of their power. While many of his peers excelled at human manipulation and magics, his powers were very much elemental so his tutoring at the academy had taught him to be guarded of his thoughts and emotions, lest they be used against him in times of strife. But with Vivian… she was just too nice to even resent that. He envied Dallas that she was his little sister. Their relationship was far less stressed than his own.

He was shaken from his revere by her companion. Damn he was fine. But then again did he really want to get involved with a first year because he was definitely new. Instead, he collected his coffee and pastry to go and sit by the window, throwing Viv a smile as he passed - you just couldn’t help it! He had taken his oversized luggage off his back and slide into his chair when he noticed that he’d claimed the table beside Mr Popular. Felix obviously knew Dallas and loved to beat him at survival training, mainly because Dallas could do everything else better. Yet he’d been conditioned by the academy’s own ethos to feel inferior: lesser heritage (his mother definitely not an Olympian and some even argue nymph), his less than impressive abilities and his sister already eclipsing him with her own Frozone impression, meant he was thought little of amongst students and thought even less of himself. Sure he was friendly with the Adonis but not friends.

But with his grandfather’s urgings breezing through his thoughts, he threw social hierarchy to the North Wind and leant across to the handsome figure on the next table. Who knew what it would lead to...
“Hey, I know you’ll be meeting up with Marcy but..” He motioned to his bag, “ I’m a day late and was wondering how fucking mental your party was last night to make Hector look so… well…weird in my meeting with him this morning…?” He nudged the pastry plate toward the edge of his table in a ‘help-yourself’ gesture and sipped the best latte he’d ever had, not able to control staring at his stupidly blue eyes.

So much grease in that pan.

Six strips of bacon rendered a substantial portion of fat, as it turned out— nothing unexpected, of course, he'd been cooking since he was a kid— but nonetheless, he forced himself to make a note to switch around a meal or two for the rest of the day or axe them completely. No matter what angle he attempted to combat it from, be it as a humble weightlifter "cultivating mass" or being a heavyweight, "like anyone above 5'4 should, no excuses", two words still existed at the back of his mind, a brand placed upon him by his most honest and critical of sisters.

Mo-chi tum-my~

...

Well, if he didn't make a habit of this, he wouldn't lose core definition from one luxurious meal alone. Summer had been relatively lazy for him, but to most normal people it was the difference between a sea and an ocean. You knew one was smaller, but you couldn't wrap your head around it in a meaningful way when you saw it. Break down the numbers and some of the barbecues from work were calorically worse anyway.

He'd be fine. And to speak of the ocean—

A trio of confident knocks came upon his door, heralding the familiar voice of his de facto protege. "Yo coach, you in there?"

Well, she was certainly in for a treat.

"Yeah, c'mon in! Almost done here!"

bzzt. bzzt.

A pause as both checked their phones. That door was gonna get knocked on again in five anyway, so...

"Y'know what, just leave it open."

May as well save the trouble.

He greeted her with a smirk as she let herself in, turning his attention to the pan for a moment as he flipped the English muffins wonce the first side had nicely browned. No reason not to toast them in the grease— they needed to be crispy to hold steady against the weight of eggs and hollandaise sauce, and it also allowed them to soak up all the smoky and salty flavor that would have likely otherwise gone to waste. One of the easiest ways to both make something taste awesome and get rid of grease, which was annoying as hell unless you liked pouring it down your drain and clogging your pipes.

"Figured I'd switch things up. Go the decadent route. Hope you're hungry, kid."

Muffins were done. He took the pan off the flame and shifted the pot of water over it, deftly plucking the bowl of sauce from the top and setting it onto the countertop. No need to heat that any more, this was the final stage. A healthy pinch of salt was tossed in, followed by a splash of the vinegar he'd used in the sauce— the acidity actually helped the egg whites set when you poached them.

While that was coming up to the boil, he regarded Rhea as he began to set up the final assembly, snapping strips of bacon in two and placing them atop the toasted slices. She'd been present alongside them as they'd gotten chewed out by the brass— but reserved as she was, compared to the likes of Dallas, it was a bit harder for him to gauge where her head was at.

After a time, the burly would-be chef spoke.

"...Helluva start to the year, huh?"

He'd been guiding her for what felt like ages now— and she'd come a long way in finding her confidence. But since even he had his doubts about whether this place was really right for them... Well, projecting his own thoughts and misgivings onto her would be stupid.

That said, she definitely deserved less of a tongue-lashing than he or, say, Bekah did. She'd dutifully kept to her post as rear guard, keeping noncombatants safe from overt danger. Even if you wanted to make a case about directly attacking 'Shadow', she wasn't at all culpable. Holding the backline firm had to be the least "offensive" position anyone could have mustered there, but as usual these things were not treated with nuance in the slightest.

It wasn't fair to him, but it was even less so to Rhea. He doubted that she wasn't feeling at all slighted by this either. May as well get her perspective on it and let her vent.

The water had reached a rolling boil, so he killed the heat down to a simmer— too much chaos in the pot would cause the eggs to explode. Learned that one the hard way. Whisking it up into a whirlpool, he cracked a trio of eggs into it, the turbulence wrapping the whites around the yolks perfectly as they quickly began to set.

All the while, the wonderful smells of the kitchen began to waft towards the door.

Beau DeRose woke up bright and early that morning to get ready for the school day. It took him hours to get ready every morning. It took time to pick out an outfit, style his hair just so, maybe put on a little make up, it took time to make himself look good. Even though he did not need to do this every morning, as thanks to his mother, he looks flawless no matter what he did.

After settling on all pink ensemble, and spending a long time in front of the mirror making himself look pretty, Beau was finally happy with his appearance. Now he was ready to go out and seize the day. He really had to make a good impression too. He missed the first day of school due to having a modeling job, and being busy the entire day. He didn’t return to school until that night. He missed everything. Now he had so much work to get caught up on, friends to catch up with, and new people to meet. He had heard he had a roommate! While he was excited to meet them, that would have to wait a bit. He wanted to grab a bite to eat at Apollo Cafe, and get reacquainted with his adoring fans.

It didn’t take long for Beau to draw a crowd as he walked to the cafe. Soon he was followed by a crowd of his adoring fans, Male and female alike. “Oh, Beau! We missed you so much!” Beau smiled and winked causing his fans to squeal excitedly. This was his favorite part of the school. He loved all the attention from people. Now, he wasn’t sure if these people loved him because he was the son of Aphrodite and the abilities that came with them, or if they genuinely liked him as a person. To be honest, he didn’t much care. He loved them, and they loved him, that was all that mattered.

After posing for selfies with people, Beau finally made it to the cafe. “Au revoir mesdames et messieurs, you have been a wonderful audience!” with that, he blew the crowd a kiss, and walked inside the cafe, while the crowd behind him screamed excitedly.

After ordering a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a Banana nut muffin, he strolled to a table where two familiar faces were sitting. "Bonjour, Felix. Dallas.” He then greeted the other two boys the same way he greeted everyone, with a kiss on the cheek. Then he took a seat at their table.

Felix blushed, and mumbled "Hey" Beau thought it was cute, and giggled.

"I apologize for not being here yesterday. I was busy. Did anything interesting happen while I was away?"

"That's exactly what we're about to find out" Felix nodded pointedly at Dallas.

Once, in days long past, Rebekah thought Dana's blunt choices of words stemmed from a middling grasp of the language. She knew better now.

Blue eyes rolled just a touch and her mouth quirked up in a faint smile while her fingers deftly plucked the bra out of the air. Dana's remarks didn't get more of a response, beyond an index finger pushing the glasses on her face back up her nose. If she was going to be a brat with them they were at least going to sit right on her face.

But the message was still received. So the Daughter of Athena began to run through her wardrobe, marking the precious seconds with quick corrections to her hair. She had gone through the whole process earlier in the morning, now she just had to undo the slight imperfections that flopping back down in frustration had induced. Then came donning her bra, and by then she had a plan. Contrary to Dana's opinions, she did have clothes that hadn't been purchased second hand. It was just funny to bother her with them. But in the spirit of humoring her and in looking good for breakfast she fished a black v-neck out of her drawers and pulled it on, exchanging her pajama pants for jeans only a few moments later. Shoes for class could wait.

"Come on, if we don't hurry the piranhas will have eaten all of your bother's cooking already." She grinned just a little. "Ready?"

Location Apollo Cafe
Time 8AM-8:30AM
Interactions Gus @Lionhearted;
Mentioned: Dallas the Stalker @Plank Sinatra, Felix @jetipster, Beau @Crimson Flame

Vivian was nearly back to her usual self thanks to the muffin that was now doing its magic inside her. She didn’t put anything that special into them. She baked them with love and whenever Nadine came to pick them up early in the morning, she hoped that the feeling of warmth overtook whoever bought one. As it was for her right now, though she normally emits a small wave of magical endorphins that actually subdues bad thoughts and emotions to increase a more positive vibe one might have.

The teen gazed at Gus. That was an easy name to remember. Gus, like the famous Roman Emperor who was the son of Julius. Vivian remembered that from one of last year’s history lessons from one of the Librarians of Knowledge’s lectures. She couldn’t remember which one though. Not like it was important. What was important was not getting sidetracked. She didn’t have the time to distract herself with her thoughts, which was to say she could easily do it if there was a reason for her to do it. But no, Gus was nice enough for her to put all of what remained of her undivided attention on him.

“Huh?” She came back to Planet Apollo Cafe. “I mean, not usually. This morning’s just been a long one. After last ni--” Two things stopped Vivian from completing that sentence. Number one was the strict non-disclosure agreement she made with the staff to not speak of what really happened at Dallas’ party last night. And the second was the vibration of her cell in her pocket and it went off multiple times in a row, annoying the blonde to no extent and it was quite visible. “I’m sorry, just hold that thought.”

And as she read it, she got a flurry amount of text messages from Dallas. She rolled her eyes at the sheer amount but laughed. Her idiot brother was lucky she was already up. Had she gotten these while still asleep, she wouldn’t have appreciated his energy. She usually was up at this time, but still! Although, what he said made her raise an eyebrow and something in her made her turn her head to glance around the cafe. And there he was on the opposite end of the cafe, sitting at a table with Felix Bellville and the glamorous Son of Aphrodite.

“Oh my god, how does he--” Vivian went from only mildly annoyed to freaking out in front of Gus. “Sorry again! My brother sent me some text messages and now he’s over there with a few of his friends -- or, at least I think they’re his friends.” Oh, Gods, why did she say that? Now he’ll know who her brother is. She didn't know if he would want to introduce himself or not, not that it would even be a problem or anything. Maybe she shouldn't overthink it. There was nothing to overthink, right?

Vivian tried not to look over that way, mainly hoping Dallas wouldn’t notice that she was just a few yards away. Dad forbid he see her with a boy. If he was overprotective normally, she had no doubt he’d go into overdrive mode the second he saw her with a boy, even though they just met.

An irritated sigh slipped out of Luciana's lips as she sat in one of the most uncomfortable seats ever, her hazel eyes glancing over the equally annoying passengers that shared the airplane with her. "This is ridiculous, I should have been at school hours ago!" the girl thought, glancing out the tiny window to only gaze at a sea of clouds. She was supposed to have been at the Academy by now but instead she was here after sitting for hours because some idiot thought it was a good idea to give their kid a bunch of candy before their flight, resulting in the poor kid barfing all over the place. Not only did the crew have to clean that mess up they had to deal with the entitled parents screaming and it was just a whole mess that didn't need to happen. Luciana thought that would be the end to all her worries but no, right after that fiasco there was a plane malfunction and they had to find a whole new plane, which took 4 hours. She ended up having to sleep in a hotel bought by the airline. Now she was going to be late to anything that might happen, "God they are probably going to throw a party and I'm going to be so behind on everything." She huffed and reached into her pocket to pull out her cellphone.

> "Hey Viv, I'm going to be late thanks to another stupid plane delay. After that kid barfed they had to find a whole new plane...and for some reason that took four hours. Please tell me nothing awesome happened last night, I think I would literally die!"

Luciana had met Vivian Lucasta last year, it was her third year at Olympus Academy and it was the first year without her best friend, who had graduated the year prior. She had been so worried that she would get someone she couldn't stand but instead she received yet another good friend, someone that she could talk to whenever things got bad. Luciana hadn't expected to make such a friend and honestly never thought she would, people often found her honest and blunt nature rude but Vivian wasn't like others. She was bright, happy and shining. She kind of reminded Luciana of a Labrador puppy.

> "Nothing's happened, just one of Dal's parties that got cancelled early cause of the staff." <

Luciana almost breathed a sigh of relief when she read that a potential party had gotten cancelled, she hated missing out on anything that would end up being the talk of the town. The brunette settled more into the leather chair, frowning at how something could be so uncomfortable. At least everything wouldn't be bad when she arrived, she'd get to see Viv. Just imagining the adorable ball of light made her smile, she was excited to see her friend. Her father ended up expanding his vineyard without telling her so she spent most of her summer helping him tend and plant, which wasn't a horrible way to spend the summer. It gave her a lot of time to catch up on things with her father and some of the time to herself let her delve deeper into the new abilities she was slowly learning. But that didn't mwant she wanted to go months without seeing someone she considered her best friend.

While Luci acted friendly and generally thought everyone was good natured, she had a bad habit of saying things that came off as rude. Most people didn't like that so they choose to not befriends with her. This left Luciana a pretty lonely person, of course there were one or two who still liked her but no one she could confide in, gossip with. No one she could call a good friend. For her Vivian was that friend.

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

The plane ride to the Academy was almost unbearable, Luci's ears continuously popped and no amount of chewing gum seemed to help remedy it. In the end all she was able to do was watching the terrible movies that the plane provided, while she didn't enjoy them they did pass the time. Before she knew it the plane was landing and Luciana was on her way to find her luggage. As she was waiting impatiently the brunette noticed she had a missed call and a voicemail. "When did that happen?" she thought, typing in the passcode to her call and listening to whoever had left the voicemail.

At first nothing of importance, then her eyes grew wide. "What?!"

Luciana did not care that people stared, not even as she angrily grabbed her bags and shoved herself into the waiting cab. The whole way to the Academy Luciana silently fumed, tapping a foot on one of the chairs. The driver of the cab was obviously annoyed but didn't dare speak up, he was afraid that the woman in the back of his car would chew his head of for no good reason. The ride to the Academy seemed to pass in a flash, Luci wasted no time in going to her assigned bedroom.

Opening the door she frowned, her roommate seemed to have left for the day which was probably a good thing. She was in no mood to talk to anyone. With a huff she dropped her things on the empty side of the room and grabbed her cellphone, texting Vivian to see where she was at. Once she got confirmation that she was at the Apollo Cafe Luciana made a beeline for it. She just couldn't believe the staff would do this to her! Who did they think they were splitting them up?!

It only took her minute to reach her destination and to start looking for her favorite blonde-headed person, as soon as her auburn eyes landed on her target she hustled over to her. Luciana completely ignored the people that were also around, grabbing the shorter girl and pulling her into a giant hug before letting her go. "Vivi! They split us up, how could they do such a thing! They are total animals! I can't believe this. Who will I talk to late at when I need to vent, I doubt this Beau person I'm now with will do it. Ugh, I'm so frustrated!" The older girl was just going on and on until she finally noticed the other boy that was near, he must have been speaking with Vivian.

"Oh...Um...Hello there" She said slowly, blinking a few times. When she was focused on something she tended to black out everything and everyone else. Luciana silently kicked herself, she had probably just made herself look like a complete fool! Not that people didn't already think she was a bitch anyway...but still that didn't matter! Luciana heaved a heavy sigh before slapping on a smile and facing the boy.

"Hi! I'm Luciana, daughter of Demeter. I'm a friend of Vivian." She introduced herself, flipping some of her hair over one shoulder. As she stood there the smell of food hit her nose and she realized she hadn't eaten in hours. She didn't trust airplane food so had refused anything they offered, the last thing she needed was getting food poisoning from some gross food.

Time: Morning
Location: Apollo’s Cafe
Interactions: Golden Girl@Altered Tundra, Golden Girl's Friend@Allycat
Mentions: Dallas @Plank Sinatra, Felix @jetipster, Beau@Crimson Flame

Night. That’s what Vivian was going to say, Gus was sure. It’s strange how first impressions work, let alone how much could be assumed after only a few minutes of interaction. There were many things he assumed of her, and they came to him quickly from his desperation to make a potential friend at his new school. From the start, her presence was undeniably cheerful and Gus couldn’t help but feel the comfort from her company, but her further actions casted such a mixture of feelings. He knew that this school was different, but the students were just like any other teen from the looks of it, so he assumed that the muffin was some kind of hangover remedy of hers. Gus’ first conjecture was that she must’ve been one of those cute girls that everyone adored—for her quirkiness, her humor, her presence, and best of all: her smile. But the label he so-quickly placed on her began to form into that of Olympus Academy’s popular blonde schoolgirl. Partying at night, especially when they’re not even finished with the first week of school, texting in the middle of their conversation, incredibly rude is all Gus could think—it wasn’t anything Gus hadn’t seen before.

Regardless of whomever she may be on the inside, her guise could not be ignored, nor could it be dismissed over such a trivial gesture. Gus has always been quick to decide whether someone were to be his friend or not, to save him the time and effort of getting to know a person and ending in the possibility of disappointment. His theory is that you should always be yourself, through and through. Any artificial personality one would present at first meeting is not somebody he’d wish to associate himself with. Nevertheless, there was something about Vivian that made it so he couldn’t get up and leave, as he normally would if he were in this predicament with anybody else.

At the mention of her brother, he turned around to see if her beauty and charm ran in the family. He was presented with three guys, probably upperclassmen by the looks of their maturity, but perhaps they were like Gus in which they looked older than they really were. One was tall and fair-skinned with icy blue eyes that appeared vibrant and beautiful. Even from where he was sitting, he could see their glow and feel an unanticipated chill from their glacial-like attribute. The other two matched Vivian’s character more, as they both had similar features, both possessing a similar presence to hers. One in particular, dressed in all pink, had a peculiar beauty to him. Except it was all attraction the flamboyant blonde had, and Vivian’s beauty shone more complex than something so comparingly simple. The other—golden haired and masculine combined with a much similar presence to Vivian’s, though it was accompanied by a stoic intimidation, not stemming from competitiveness, but more of a protective nature—that seemed more plausible.

And for a moment, Gus could feel a sense of insecurity building in him. Perhaps her lack of interest was because Gus wouldn’t be a hotshot at this school like he was previously. Maybe what she saw in him was nothing compared to the six foot, greek demi-gods that walked with such confidence and grace. Regardless, Gus wasn’t one to fight for the attention of someone, so she gave her the opportunity to flee from the increasingly awkward conversation. Turning back to her, his bold, brown eyes trying their best to match the charm of her ensnaring gaze, he spoke, “I promise that I’m probably not as fun to be around, if you’d rather go over there.”

And just like that, Gus’ plan was foiled by yet another face of unfathomable beauty. It seemed all demi-gods had the body and face worthy of magazine covers. This girl in particular seemed close to Vivian, maybe even considered her best friend by the way she was freaking out over their separation. Gus remained straight-faced throughout her arrival, but was, again, faced with a similar greeting that Vivian had to Gus. ‘Daughter of Demeter’, Gus thought to himself, another person proud to announce whom their godly parent was.

In response, Gus left his introduction just as simple as it was before, “I’m Gus.”

Marcella Aveline Bonaparte II & Rhea Franky Psomas

Interactions: Venting to Jonas Highwind @HereComesTheSnow, elbowing Viv @Altered Tundra, and rescuing Dallas Relo @Plank Sinatra (Also mentioned: @Lionhearted, @Allycat, @Crimson Flame)

Marcella Bonaparte
Heyyyy, I just woke up and I’m honestly still a little dishevelled, but I should be good for some diner food if you’re still in?

Dallas Relo
apollo cafe
prettying up now
see who wears the sexier welcome mat

Oh that little.

"No," Marcy cautioned herself, "don't give him that power, he's one ego trip away from causing a singularity." Marcella rexamined her outfit before truly commiting to her approach towarsd the Apollo cafe. She'd make do with what she had at the moment, though her mind was already planning out future outfits. A Bonaparte didn't dress for anyone in particular. A Bonaparte dressed for everyone. For if a Bonaparte shouldn't attempt to give the proletariat something to look at, who would?

She smiled intimiately at all who passed her, a few run-of-the-mills who happened to be lucky enough to cross the Demigod's path on her morning commute to the cafe. As well as some of the school's staff. She smiled at them, fluttering her eyelashes just enough to direct an onlooker towards her sterling cerulean gaze. Children of Aphrodite had it easy, they'd turn on their magical pheromone and you'd swear they were pretty, no, for any other demigodess, one had to put in the effort.

Finally coming upon the cafe, Marcella looked on in abject horror as she saw him there, flanked by two men she didn't recognize. Viv was also in the cafe, Viv was speaking to Marcy's brother, Gus inside. Those two could be problematic.

But, the mission was clear. Extraction.

Marcella waited for a pair from the faculty to enter the cafe. She silently followed as if she was their third. Not saying anything, but just close enough to not garner attention.

She immediately broke off and elbowed Viv's side quietly whispering into her ear.

"Follow my lead and keep everyone else out of this. It’s for your brother."

Marcella approached the hostage with caution and knowing in her eyes as she locked on Dallas'.

"Oh zut alors! Pouvez vous m'aider, Ma voiture est tombée en panne. Je ne c'est pas quoi faire!" Marcella loaded her voice with a rich Parisian upper-crust accent that only came through when she cried normally. She gently grasped Dallas' bicep, pleading at him with every part of her face. She conjured images of rose clinging to Jack atop that frigid door. "Please monsieur, s'il vous plaît, come 'ere." Marcella's accent was as rick as dark chocolate, pulling Dallas towards him, attempting to free him from his new bonds. "Je suis tres desole." She muttered as she waited for Dal to seal the deal.

The smell of eggs further roused Rhea to achieve new tiers of consciousness. Her awareness of her surroundings started to come back, slowly but surely. Jonas' voice send her head spinning, back to last night, to getting reamed out by the higher-ups. Rhea had stayed the quietest of the present company. She certainly hadn't fought back against it, and when her and Marcy got back to their rooms Marcy had wanted to stay with Rhea for the night. So she hadn't had the chance to really process it, until now, anyway.

"...Helluva start to the year, huh?"

"Yeah," Rhea spat, awkwardly rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "Some fuckin' thanks for saving their entire experimental alumni, huh?"

She sighed loudly enough that it almost evolved into a groan. "Eggs smell good, thanks for making breakfast." Rhea glanced over at the pot of water. She tried to feel a connection to it, just as an early stretch.

The sensation came in waves. It was difficult for her early on to try and discern information about water she couldn't see. But it's movement mirrored Jonas' stirring, and its heat rose with the stove top. Little by little she garnered everything about the water, and their contents. She felt one with it for a brief, fleeting second.

And then she was back.

"You guys pretty much said everything there was to say, I didn't want to add fuel to that fire I guess." Rhea still had the bad habit of explaining things when she wasn't asked to. "Here, let me help." Rhea pushed herself up from the chair she had sat in. "How many are we expecting? I'll set the table."

You know, it's been a long time since I actually treated myself a little.

Maybe a croissant French toast or an omelette? La Boulangerie back home had the best he'd ever tasted of either, but Viv swore by this place and its godly cooking. He wasn't exactly sure how, unless the kitchen staff had some divinities among their number without anyone knowing. It's not like many celebrity chefs found the time to disappear off the face of the planet to cook for demigods, and if any of the gods were so fucking great at cooking why did they need to keep abducting cup bearers on Earth? Dallas thought of asking his father, but what good would come of it? It's not like Dal particularly enjoyed cooking for himself unless a fling was over. And that was just an excuse not to talk to flings.

Not talking to anyone...

Now that hit the spot. Just a nice, long bout of silence, punctuated by occasional effervescent bursts of Marcy, punctuated by some little artisanal breakfast. Maybe they made a good focaccia here. With pesto and nuts, tomato and mozzarella, mmm...the claws of the cerberus mangling Dallas Relo's brain were finally starting to slacken.

“Hey, I know you’ll be meeting up with Marcy but...I'm a day late and was wondering how fucking mental your party was last night to make Hector look so… well…weird in my meeting with him this morning…?”

I will show you your voice box before you die.

"Then catch your flight next year." Don't open your eyes. You are not obligated to have to open your eyes. But the sound of a ceramic plate scraping along the surface of the table - the only surface that protected whatever wasp in a man's flesh from a lobotomy with a fucking coffee mug - distracted him, and the Son of the Sun's eyes slowly lolled open as though he'd been roused from anesthesia. Behind the eyelids that had been his paper shield against the frustrations of everyone currently alive in the solar system, his pupils were two black holes surrounded by an eye wall of lightning, iridescent blues crackling and blazing at whatever had roused them open. For a moment, Dallas looked more Zeus than Apollo.

Then he gingerly lifted up the croissant that had been offered to him in tribute and took a large bite off the end, finishing his bite in four chews and swallowing wolfishly. He didn't immediately go in for a second helping, but at least he seemed more likely to bite off another piece of pastry instead of someone's ear.

"The usual. The staff is too old to remember when they got drunk underage, and they accused me of dealing to kids. Dumbass shit. I deal with it every year." That was half-true; it had certainly been the pressing concern on Dallas' mind all day yesterday leading up to the party, and it was the usual staff response to haul Dallas, Jonas, and Marcella up to the scaffolds for discipline after parties. Underage drinking made for a convenient catch-all. Why didn't I just tell the truth about the barrier? Dallas cocked his head faintly at Felix, taking another, more pensive bite of the almond croissant and chewing over the deception. He barely knew the upperclassmen, in truth, and he had as much right as anyone to know if Olympus wasn't safe.

Maybe, Dal decided, he'll just go the fuck away faster.

“Au revoir mesdames et messieurs, you have been a wonderful audience!”

For a split second, an apology to Felix was forming on Dallas' Cupid-bow lips. It morphed into a snarl at the abrasive sound of another upperclassman, one who had apparently bee-lined in on the golden child of Olympus as so many before him had.

"Oh what the fuck."

Beau ignored him, planting a kiss so fervent on first Felix's cheek, than Dal's, that Dallas wished he could sweat lye.

"Hey." Felix was burning up himself. You would think that anyone old enough to remember where they were on 9/11 would know what a kiss was like, but maybe he was just more romantic than Dallas. A dynamo in the sack? Yeah. A little playful with the people he liked most? Sure. But there was a difference between white-hot solar passion and random meet cute infatuation. Felix should have learned it by now. It was no good being sensitive in a place where everyone was a mix between Trojan warrior and Instagram influencer.

"Hey, Skye." The greeting was far more blunt coming out of Dal's throat than Felix's. Outside, it had started to snow. The light that shone through the window and onto Dal's hands was starting to chill, and one of his hands made a fist under the other.

"I apologize for not being here yesterday. I was busy. Did anything interesting happen while I was away?"

"That's exactly what we're about to find out."

Dallas' eyes fixed on the son of Aphrodite, alabaster teeth chewing pointedly on the end of his lip. The croissant was being choked inside his fist, almonds and powdered sugar falling to the ground in a mirror image of the scene outside their table.

"I heard Kate Spade killed herself." You should go check on her. "And Michael Kors bought Versace. That must be hard for you. We can go burn a couple Kohls to the ground if you want to cheer up later."

They really were not letting this fucking party go. It always seemed like the last thing in the world Dallas Relo ever wanted to discuss was the only thing that was ever on anyone else's mind. He let out an angry sigh and ran the hand that wasn't currently disemboweling a pastry through his dark gold bangs.

"Look, gang. If I knew what kind of bugs had crawled up the asses of that waste-of-life power couple, I would tell you. Gods know they're the most useless fucking people on this campus. But all they told me this morning was the same thing they tell me every year. Don't give kids reasons to drink. If I don't listen, that's on me." Dallas' lips pursed in barely contained rage. "Now, other than that? Not much. Dusty lost a tooth in Viv's skull, that was good for a laugh. We caught the Nyx kids in the middle of sacrificing one of the last virgins on campus when we got to the lake. We played some beer pong, Marcy and Kelso held me down and pierced me with sapphires. They match my eyes. I'd show you, but we're out in public right now. Anything else--"

"Oh zut alors! Pouvez vous m'aider, Ma voiture est tombée en panne. Je ne c'est pas quoi faire!"

"What the fuck."

Oh, fuck, she thinks she's helping.

Whether or not the two upperclassmen were about to leave him alone, Dallas would never know. What he knew now was that his head was about to go full Scanners in the middle of this diner, and Viv would never forgive him if he splattered her favorite cafe with his brain matter. There was way too much degenerate shit inside his skull, she would be sitting in all sorts of memories and sex moves for weeks and--

"Please monsieur, s'il vous plaît, come 'ere. Je suis tres desole."

Leave it to Marcy to say the one word he might have understood in French...in English. All he knew of French was a curse or two - what the fuck did you just say was something he'd demanded to be taught, to full effect whenever someone was irritating him past the point of wisdom, and one time in the French Quarter of New Orleans on vacation he'd learned to call a cop a whore and ask a girl to flash him. Marcy seemed like she was wearing too many layers on top for that to be an option, though.

"Marcy." Dallas' voice was shaking like a car with a slipped timing belt. "This is the Apollo Cafe. I will fucking kill everyone here with my fists, with a table, with egg whisks fucking akimbo, before I let myself get driven out of the Apollo Cafe. Sit down. And bon appetit."

To prove his point, he dropped the rest of the uneaten, smushed croissant on the plate.

Poor thing. It was kinda tasty.

"I heard Kate Spade killed herself. And Michael Kors bought Versace. That must be hard for you. We can go burn a couple Kohls to the ground if you want to cheer up later."

Beau raised an eyebrow. He had only just gotten here today and asked an innocent question. Why was he being so aggressive? After that, there was an explanation of some weird things that happened yesterday. He really shouldn’t have expected anything less from Olympus Academy. Weird things always seemed to happen here.

A girl then came in latching on to Dalla’s arm. "Oh zut alors! Pouvez vous m'aider, Ma voiture est tombée en panne. Je ne c'est pas quoi faire!" Beau hadn’t seen her before, but like a lot of the girls at this school she was pretty. She spoke French too, which was a plus. She was begging Dallas to help with her broken down car.

For some reason, Dallas blew up."Marcy." Dallas' voice was shaking like a car with a slipped timing belt. "This is the Apollo Cafe. I will fucking kill everyone here with my fists, with a table, with egg whisks fucking akimbo, before I let myself get driven out of the Apollo Cafe. Sit down. And bon appetit." he dropped the rest of his croissant on the plate, which had been smashed. What a waste of a perfectly good Croissant.

At this point, Beau stood up. He had enough of this unnecessary rudeness. Dallas, tu dois te calmer.” He then cleared his throat and used his Charmspeak ability. ”Sit down, and eat your Croissant quietly, S'il vous plaît!”

Next, he turned his attention to the girl, with a smile on his face. ”Marcy? Parlez-vous français? Moi aussi! Je m’appelle Beau DeRose. I am sure, you knew that though. Everyone knows who I am.” He laughed haughtily.

Dana, naturally, was ready quite quickly. She had not elected to go back to bed after their lecture, instead beginning to feel out where the articles of mythological war fell on the subject of phosphorus. She was ready to go by the time Rebekah had finished getting dressed.

So when Dana nodded her assent, Bekah pocketed her phone and headed out the door. It wasn't a long trip in the slightest, Jonas resided literally across the hall. Something she hadn't known until they handed out room assignments but had made her smirk almost immediately. Just a small, fleeting, self-satisfied tugging on one side of her lips. Even if she hadn't raised questions at the party last night, she definitely would have quickly. Whiiiich...

That was the first thought to give her just a little bit of pause, her amusement aside. Jonas hadn't actually said anything about the previous night yet. There hadn't been time, though she also knew there was no way that he hadn't noticed. Which could make breakfast something of an experience. Would he comment? Would he leave it be? What would his response be, if he did? Uncertainty was not something she was fond of, but accidentally giving up secret had made uncertain what sort of impact it would have. She shook her head slightly, casting aside the train of thought before she followed it very far. They had already reached the open door to 2A, after all, and there was breakfast to be had.

Anything could be handled as it came up.

"Morning," She said to Rhea and Jonas, with a wider smile than she usually graced others with. "What's for breakfast, Highwind? And is there coffee?"

They had requested that she stay behind -- to discuss things, they said. To clarify the means of a confidentiality agreement; to mutter over the parameters of her involvement; to garner and glean and dissect her testimony -- but, above all -- to strictly prohibit her use of power. She had summoned a fissure within the waking world, rending apart the threshold of reality and threatening not only the sentient creature dubbed Shadow, but her peers as well. Such a void had been banned, a strict ruling that she never tamper with the fragile breadth of the realm, whispers of probation had been fixated to her record, and one of the staff - who, she doesn't know - had even entertained the mention of wards.

Emma Laurent had clutched black over tarnished silver, charms twinkling, eyes brimming abroad in the wakings of a tumultuous night sky, and she hissed.

"I - I was only trying to help."

Well, next time, don't.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

She was a ghost, a figment of hazed out ebony that flitted among the common grounds, slinking from blankets of wraith torn shadows that secured to her treads with every step she took. Whispers of sighs tumbled from her throat cinched in her chains, her grasp never having left from the purchase of her most sacred of relics. Her thumb often passed over a carved name and within the pit of her soul, something sour began to fester. She was targeted, singled out, isolated in her involvement because - as one other had stated - she was highly unstable in her control even with her beloved there to tether and siphon the brunt of her unbidden quantity. Still, she had tasted heat and coiling adrenaline, had fed upon the dregs of those fighting righteously, like a glutton her shadow had fixated to the tiling efforts of those championing the cause and they lay, still, inside her thickening silhouette that nearly boiled with an appetance unknown to her heart. It lingered there, a beast of potential that yearned to be unleashed, to feast and to reap upon the fragile barrier of her constitution. Damien could only harness and retract so much, despite being stationed as her carrier and protector of all ill will and her torment, and this leftover potency was rapidly ascending.

And that woman --

To have her power robbed from the fringes of her fluctuating control had been startling and far too abrupt, the premature separation had been painful, erupting anguish across the connection of both darkness and flesh. Her palms had been seared, torn from Damien's clutch and curled against her heart where it fluttered madly like a bird trapped within twine. His voice had bled from coherency to an inconsistent drone that had been reminiscent of the vibrating crescendo that had torn across her senses the moment she had sunk her digits into the void, and from there she had wanted nothing more than to sink tooth and nail into the daughter of Hecate. She had taken her prey and the reproachful glance tossed at both she and Damien had made her seethe with an uncharacteristic fury that burned both primal and barbaric. Emma had lain blame upon what little of Shadow she had consumed, the phantasmal encroach of its nature beating upon the fringes of her sanity as she slept that night, unvisited by the spectral manifestation of her mother and her brother's comfort. She hadn't of even texted him that morning, inquiring upon his recovery -- was he okay, had she hurt him in some way?

The results of their union were often erratic and destructive, invoking anger, guilt, and the unbearable shame from her lack of independence to a state of mind she failed against. If she were indeed a conduit or bay of the many facets of Nyx's children, then she required temperance. Perhaps wards weren't so outlandish...

Unwittingly, she had sought after the most populated area of the commons, her shadow a leaded thread of black that hungrily sought after emotes that lingered upon the precipice of her awareness, dotting them in flavour. Emma inhaled dregs of a banked irritant that simmered red and blue, harmonizing to a wicked purple that boasted sour notes and was braised in a black wash of anger. It was attractive. It heralded a sweetness, a likeness of fluttering danger that cooed to the coil of hunger slung low in her belly, a sunburst of flame and heat - Emma opened her eyes, fixated twinkling stars on cerulean -

Oh - no, okay. No.

She skittered out of view from their company -- Dallas, Marcella, and upperclassmen she didn't know -- and nearly fumbled against Vivian's table joined into a trio, and at this she wasn't surprised, the Apollo child was a glistening tribute to any ambiance. Emma blinked, brightening streaks of silver upon her cape of lashes, the sky within her graces awash in simmering rocks of burning flame and gases. Had she ever spoken to her before? And the others, she blinked at them both, curling wisps of black in her grasp and breathed around her intrusion and said:

"Uhm. Hi - Sorry." Emma plucked the shadow at her heels clad in scuffed leather and pinched the shimmering eclipse of her profile and hastily retreated to an expansive line at the beverage cart. Damien was much better at this than she, he'd of quipped lazily, drawled out witty banter and introductions as if it were second nature and in the flanks of his rejoinder, she'd smile prettily and try to hide. She cast one glance more at the epicenter of the compiling sensations encroaching her contour, wisps of periwinkle suggestion lapped upon the edges of her grasp, donned pink in reflection and heavily endowed in manipulative charm. Emma's gaze widened upon the darling undertones and enveloped herself within an embrace of her arms clad in grey and felt the prick of her nails upon the planes of her pale skin.

Impending violence tastes like sour candy and ash.

The line moved sluggishly, capped in eager conversation and listing tones of bed-ridden voices that surrounded her mind within a fog that she rapidly inhaled around, desperate to banish the tide of activity that flooded her empathetic core. She'd get them something to drink -- a green tea for herself, a black leaf tea for him, splash of milk, right? -- take it to his room in the dressings of a peaceful offering. If he was even there. But, I'm sorry, would go unspoken and he'd forgive her, for he always would.

"Well, you're smelling the bacon more than the eggs, probably." he corrected mildly, a light smirk gracing his strong features. "I'd be worried if it was the other way around, to be honest with you. If you wanna help, these are nearly done— grab me a plate and paper towel like I had for those."

He indicated the strips, now resting atop their muffins on a single large plate, with the slotted spoon he wielded. As his faithful disciple did so, dutifully and quickly, he too the time to skim off the excess ribbons of egg white that hadn't coaleasced around their requisite yolks, tossing them into the sink. Any second now, the poached eggs would float to the top— there it was. That meant done.

He killed the heat, and as he transferred each shining orb of milky white onto the plate, he considered what she said.

"It's..." he frowned, choosing his next words deliberately. "It's like that a lot. I don't know how many fights you've gotten into in school, but this isn't any different from those."

A pinch of salt fell like snow upon each egg, seasoning them just enough to wake up the flavor innate to the egg white— he didn't need much when there was a bevy of sodium from the bacon it would rest upon in the first place. The interplay between each ingredient was what made dishes like these a skill to truly master as opposed to simple sets of directions to follow. Ideally, each element would service the others in some way to create a complete flavor profile, and part of that was minding not to overdo a certain aspect. In cooking, erring on the side of caution was smart, especially with something like salt— simply put, you could underseason and add salt as necessary, but if you had too much salt once everything was put together, you weren't getting it out easily.

"There's no nuance in these things— The people running the show don't want to do the legwork of determining the right and wrong of it. 'It doesn't matter who started, since you were both in the fight you both get suspended'. It's stuff like that."

Gingerly, he lifted the first poached egg off of the plate and onto the bread-and-pork base with a spoon. Golden-brown toasting on the baked base, followed by a cross of each halved strip of crimson bacon, savory and salty and smoky as you liked, and then centered upon that the pristine and perfectly round, white eggs, topped all with that pale yellow Hollandaise, rich and luxuriously smooth with the perfect hint of brightness to avoid being overbearing...

Oh, hell yeah. Dusting of Paprika on that and I'm golden.

He was much more satisfied with how his plating was shaping up than his school year— if you ate with your eyes, only one of those would prove a feast.

"As cynical as it is to say, I'm used to it after a fashion... But it doesn't mean either of us— doesn't mean any of us have to like it. I don't think I ever will. Not when I know I wasn't wrong."

He turned to the diminutive daughter of the seas, favoring her with a smile that, while warm as usual, didn't manage to kick every other emotion he held out of his eyes. Discontent, disquiet, disgust, disdain, disillusion— a swirl of it managed to leak through his normal stony exterior. For such serious matters, he liked to stay cold, calculated, to not give anything away. It was the most he'd let slip since they'd returned from their homes. Maybe since they'd met.

"You don't have to explain yourself to me, Rhea. It wasn't your shouting match to get into in the first place."

He continued his sequence with the other eggs, placing them upon their awaiting bases exactly as he had the first.

"I'd be a dogshit teacher if I expected you to fight my battles for me, y'know?"

Just like I would be if I made you follow me out.

From the hall, he heard the door across his opening and a pair of footsteps making the extremely short jaunt into the kitchen, and with a single, exorcising breath, shook off his many misgivings for now. Time to play host, the gracious and masterful chef par excellence whose only mood was to serve up something to take the edge off of them all.

"Yo," he said in greeting, meeting Rebekah's earnest smile with a grin that edged on cocksure. "No coffee, didn't bring a machine and if Dal did, he didn't unpack it. Sorry. But forget that, what I've got here,"

He took the bowl of Hollandaise and dunked his spoon within the velvety yellow suspension, shaking free any sauce that hung too precariously to safely make the transition, and laid it atop his first poached egg in a single, smooth deposition, blanketing the stack of breakfast staples beneath.

"is Eggs Benedict. We kicked all kinds of ass last night— I say we treat ourselves. To hell with keeping quiet, it's worth celebrating. So, I'm gonna throw my weight around as a chef a little and go all-out."

The same motion, smooth and precise and positively mouthwatering, draped similar coats of Hollandaise onto the remaining towers of savory excess. Producing a shaker full of crimson powder from wherever he had placed it off camera, he tapped it in steady rhythm as flecks of smoky Paprika graced the yellowed surfaces below.

"Kansei."

Finished.

His sister was here, he may as well put on a show in her language as well as his own. Lifting the platter, he set it down at the center of the table that was previously spartan and untouched, and stepped back to face the trio of demigoddesses with a full courtly bow.

He couldn't deny that theatrics were fun, every now and again.

Ham was good for a meal, after all.

"Enjoy. You've earned it."

Interactions: Dallas (@Plank Sinatra), Beau (@Crimson Flame and Marcy (@Write)

Dallas had nearly bit his head off - literally, he was probably capable - when he asked about last night. One corner of Felix’s mouth twitched upward slightly as his croissant offering worked to calm the hungover rage of his fellow student. But his face quickly fell again after the blatant lie. At that, Dallas looked as though he was actually going to reveal something truthful but that was interrupted by a flurry of blonde and pink charm. Felix smiled at the immaculate pink paisley suit and casually styled hair. But those animated, pale blue eyes and pert rosy lips always made his mouth dry.

But Beau’s arrival meant Felix could make it very clear to Dallas that he hadn’t believed him the first time. Maybe some of his charm would help a glimmer of the truth shine through. But first he had to control his own emotions. Many here would think him weak for not having a mastery over his own desires but when a son of Aphrodite was involved, well… feelings were anything but straightforward. He felt himself blush, colour rising to his pale cheeks, as Beau’s soft skin brushed against his stubble.
“Hey.” Is that all you can say? Idiot. He glanced outside to confirm his worst fears. Yep. It was snowing. Once again, the son of an elemental goddess proving himself to lose control when confronted with strong emotions. Although, he’d never realised he felt that way about Beau before...

Dallas obviously wasn’t impressed at Beau’s arrival and so although Felix readvanced with his question his response was mixed. Some interesting things had definitely happened, but the reason for those bizarre occurrences was still out of reach… He was about to push further, emboldened by the presence of his rose clad companion when he saw the state of his croissant. Nay, ex-croissant. Damn this kid had some anger issues. That was a perfectly good pastry. Sensing that the end of this near-diatribe was upon them, with no more information to give, Felix readied his excuse to go back to the counter for a second attempt at breakfast, resigned to the fact that last night must have just been another fucked up part of this crazy school. Yet the second croissant was not to be. The girl he knew to be Marcy swooped to Dallas before Felix could speak. He had to agree with the Apollonian’s curse: What the fuck is she doing?

He could only assume that she was trying to extract Dallas from their interrogations and that told Felix that something different had definitely gone down last night. He could not help but cringe internally at her completely misguided strategy though. He wouldn’t have had that problem. The popular students never bothered to learn anything about their classmates apart form clique affiliations and the superlatives. Yes, she’d gone with the correct tact of damsel in distress, a golden boy like Dallas couldn’t say no to that. He’d have used a similar ‘quick, come and be a hero’ excuse himself. But Marcy’s lack of knowledge was her downfall. Beau spoke fluent French. Felix had travelled the world with his father and picked up a few languages to conversational level, and so spoke some French (which was useful with him visiting Quebec every holiday). Dallas, however, did not. Maybe this was a good time to leave.

He abruptly shut down her rescue attempt rather rudely and Felix was all too aware of the many pairs of eyes turned toward them. Yes, he should probably leave.

Beau then gave Dallas an order. He sensed that it may possibly be charm speak - one of the many reasons for his tumult of emotions surrounding his attraction to the Frenchman. If he’d tried that on Dallas… Oh yes, he should definitely leave!

Felix slid out from his seat, and scooped up his large rucksack in one fluid motion, before turning back to the table. He nodded toward the daughter of Hades, “Marcy, c’était un plaisir de te encontrer and Dallas, good luck fixing the car.” he finished with a smile, no idea if that would be understood. He placed a hand on Beau’s shoulder as he passed, “À bientôt mon somptueux Beau. ”

With one final glance at the malformed mass of pastry crumbs that was his breakfast, Felix wove his way to the door, trying to ignore the curious stares and feeling powerless in comparison to the Olympian spawn that surrounded him. The bell chimes has he opened the door and he was treated by a gust of wind, a handful of snowflakes dancing into the cafe to rapidly diffuse into the warmth. He quickly stepped outside and embraced the cold, the snow flurrying around him as he embraced his one real power.

Location Apollo Cafe
Time 8AM-8:30AM
Interactions Luciana @Allycat; Gus @Lionhearted; Brief mention of Emma @Rockette

Silence and Vivian Lucasta never did get along but neither did she and crowds. Not that the group that was gathering over where she had spotted Dal was upsetting her in any way, but something that Vivian could feel swirling in the pit of her stomach was the anxiety that she always felt when unwarranted loud noises were upon her. She felt it, too; the sensation that crawled up the back of her spine and all the way up to the nape of her neck. It always happened when Vivian, through no fault of her own, of course, retreated into a social bubble that always had her withdrawing herself from Confident Vivian.

But Vivian kept smiling. It was her default reaction for everything -- good or not. It was an unhealthy coping mechanism but it was one that didn’t make anyone suspicious of how terrified she got sometimes. As she curled her mouth and showed her pearly whites, she felt a small bump from Emma, that Daughter of Nyx who saved everyone. When she quietly apologized, Vivian nodded. “No worries~” She didn’t know if the girl heard her, but soon she was gone almost as soon as she left. Vivian caught the sight of her holding two drinks as she left the cafe.

Gus spoke up, which prompted Vivian to internally panic. She had no idea of knowing if he was perceptive enough to spot how much she was struggling to keep up her positive energy and just smile, but when he specifically mentioned Dallas’ general area, she let out a breath of relief. Never had she felt such a weight being lifted off her shoulder. “Oh, no it’s okay. Besides, he’s busy and--”

Vivian was cut off by both the sounds and sight of her dearest friend in the entire world (or at least at the school), Luciana. Almost instantly, Vivian stood up and embraced Luci in a tight hug, jumping around just briefly. Just by doing that, whatever positive energy Vivian was giving off would have been felt throughout the entire cafe and magnified almost twice. Only the feeling one got when their best friend showed up so randomly would generate such a reaction from a girl who was about three seconds away from falling out of her chair.

“Luci!!! I’m so happy you’re here!” Vivian said, still holding onto her friend, still embracing her as tightly as her slender arms would allow. “Yesterday was so miserable. You wouldn’t believe how terrible it was.” She sighed, exasperated. “And oh my god, I know! I haven’t checked my roommate yet. I don’t think mine was even here when the names were said to us yesterday. Who do you got? Or have they not told you yet?”

When the fight had ended and the group was escorted back to the apartment building, the overall morale wasn’t high. A lot seemed sour about how the staff came in and assumed direct control of a fight that was pretty much near its end. Damien didn’t feel anything one way or the other. During the entire night, the amount of raw void energy he siphoned from Emma was enough to kill him. He knew this because, by the time he had reached his room and collapsed near his bed, the swirling madness inside him had finally done what he had feared.

The first hours that had Damien on his bed, face down no less, felt like he had overworked his entire body and every muscle in his body was being consumed by some flesh-eating parasite. Every second that seemed to pass only made it worse. Despite having the desperate urge to scream, despite every fiber in his being wanting to take his power of shadows and end it right then and there, Damien didn’t take the coward’s way out. That wasn’t who he was. That and he knew it was only temporary. No matter how bad the pain got, once he gave it two or three hours, it would subside.

...Only it didn’t.

Throughout the night and after the rays of sunlight illuminated the darkness from his room, Damien was hunched over on the floor, holding his stomach as though if he were to remove his hands it was going to explode. Groans slowly made their way from his mouth and Damien was experiencing a first: genuine fear. The times before were nothing like this. His intake of his sister’s power, though it was substantially larger than previous times, didn’t dissolve after a couple of hours or even by the time morning came. It remained and the anguish growing deep inside him only seemed to make it worse.

“Why won’t it dissipate?”

Words felt like poison as his lips burned and his voice was lower than a murmur. Damien’s eyes opened and he saw only the color of a blinding red but everything he saw was like blood seeping through the cracks of each side of his room. When he turned his head one direction, a deep crimson consumed his vision and hid the white walls from him. Additionally, the pain in his stomach expanded to his head. It was about to explode and Damien had no way of knowing whether his body was going to consume itself or if when his new roommate came in was going to find nothing but the clothes on his back covered in black goo.

For probably the first time, Damien wasn’t okay. A depressing, sickly feeling crawled up his spine. It was at that exact moment did Damien feel the hours of gradual fatigue hit him at once. His entire body lifted itself into the air like he was a man possessed and his limbs contorted themselves. First, his arms folded inward, cracking limbs and bones as Damien couldn’t hold it in. His legs soon did the same as they twisted like a rope and soon Damien’s body was a ball, every inch he was in his vertical frame was reduced to this ball of human flesh wrapped in black leather.

And with a needle of white coming from the sides of the walls and Damien Black felt it pierce through him as easily as a hot knife sliced through butter. With this spike inside him, Damien’s ball-like form had exploded, splattering the walls of his room, the furniture near his bed, and the windows in a black goo that should have been red…

Suddenly, Damien rushed upright, heart heavily with how fast it was beating and the overwhelming sense of dread coursing through his body. “It felt so...real.” He was so thrown by what he just experienced that the Son of Nyx wasn’t sure if what he experienced was a dream. There was no way that could have been a dream. “It was so vivid and ...real.”

If it was indeed a dream, then what caused it? Surely it wasn’t his sister’s powers. Could that happen? Oh, what was he thinking? Anything was possible and he knew his sister inside and out. If there was one thing about Damien that he took an unbridled pride in, it was how close he was to Emma. They knew each other’s deepest secrets, including the extent to their powers. Both knew how dangerous the other’s powers were and them being side by side was the only way they knew to keep them in check.

“That had to be it.”

He was throwing out guesses at this point but it was the only thing that made sense. Or at least, maybe since he had just awoken from that dream, he wasn’t thinking clearly. The only thing he knew was the last time he siphoned her powers, he felt more empathetic than he usually was. Now, it was the dreams. How many more times can he do this before it consumes him like what he just drempt?

As he thought on that, the question would have to be answered another time. It wasn’t long until he heard the door to his apartment open and instantaneously, he smelled the intoxicating aroma of black tea mixed with green tea enter his and his roommate’s apartment. He put on a pair of gray sweatpants and walked out of his room. To his surprise, he didn’t see his roommate (whoever that was) but instead, his darling sister holding what he could only assume was a black tea with one splash of milk from Apollo Cafe.

“I was wondering who that was.” Damien laughed, smiling lazily. He was trying to hide it but the bags under his eyes and disheveled hair was a clear indication that he slept like shit and he felt even worse. “I’m kind of surprised you didn’t sleep in. Nobody would blame you if you chose to hibernate for the entire semester.” He remarked as he took a sip of the semi-bitter tea, just as was exactly how the Gods intended black tea to taste like.

Ito would have joined the party sooner, if he didn’t arrive to the campus late. Thankfully he wouldn’t get a slap around the back of the head as he was afterall on Campus business. Being a messenger had its benefits, like being able to arrive late, and perhaps skipping the annoying first day festivities. He had been here long enough to know that everyone always went off the rails on the first night and that the true ‘first’ day didn’t start til the day after.

Lazing around on the bed Ito had to convince himself to get up, this was too early in the morning for someone who didn’t get into bed until three in the morning. Like it or not he did have things to do today. Rising out of bed he began to get dressed, putting on a black and grey jumper and black jeans. He couldn’t be arsed to walk to the bathroom so he simply closed his eyes, felt a small rush of magical energy rush past his hair and opened his eyes again. And there he was, in the bathroom in front of the sink, toothbrush in his hand.

He carried on the routine, teeth brushed, teleport to the kitchen to make food and then teleport to the sink when he was done. Walking was for chumps afterall. He could teleport where he wanted as well as go between every dimension imaginable without limits. Sure he didn’t have super muscles, or was a child of war, but he made do. With his morning routine now done, he took a moment to look around the dorm. It was clearly made for two but so far no one was in the second bedroom. Maybe someone would appear soon enough. If not he could always turn the spare room into a workshop or something like that.

Now that he was ready to face the outside world, Ito needed a pick me up. There was no coffee in the dorm so it seemed like he had to go get some. No bother, it would take only a minute. Closing his eyes once more he would disappear and reappear right at the front of the queue at the Apollo Cafe. Queues were for losers after all. He was fairly sure he could hear some mumbles of annoyance from behind, but he didn’t care.

He quickly placed his order; a Caramel Latte Macchiato with extra cream and chocolate sprinkles in the largest possible coffee container possible. It was his first day. He could splash out. Once he received his drink he was getting ready to go home when he noticed the number of people hanging around. He noticed alot of them from the previous year, but no one stuck out as a person he would hang around with. He had a very mutual relationship with people around here, sometimes he helped them and other times he hindered them. Other times it was for business other times it was for his own amusement. It couldn’t hurt to hang around a bit on the sides, observer and see if he could garnish any useful information. Picking up his drink he took a seat at a table or two away form the groups of people gathering, taking a moment to focus on his drink and enjoy the taste before he began survilaling the scene. It was only his first day and detective Ito was out to play.

Outfit

Alva woke up at approximately seven in the morning. Her morning routine consisted of the usual brushing her teeth, taking a shower and doing her makeup. After a quick check on her social media accounts, she headed to the Apollo Cafe for her usual morning coffee. There was nothing like an iced caramel coffee with extra caramel and whipped cream to wake you up.

The weather seemed to be just perfect, though there seemed to be some sort of tension in the air that she couldn’t quite place. She had heard a little of what had happened at Dallas’s party, though it wasn’t enough for her to actually understand anything that had happened. The more she thought about it, the more she tried to piece it together on her way to the Cafe. Once again, she failed.

As she was walking into the Apollo Cafe, the door opened before she could grab the handle. A cool gust of wind followed, along with a few snowflakes. Alva was greeted by the sight of a man much taller than herself - though someone being taller than her was most definitely the norm. His height wasn’t what held her attention however.

”How -- Who’s you’re godly parent?” she asked quite bluntly.

It was yet another curiosity killed the cat sort of moment that she had landed herself in. She couldn’t help but to ask. After all, she could do the same thing that the man standing before her had just done - if he had done it.
