Their parents, like many people working in the deadly factories that blanket the planet, died when Ilex was very young, leaving them alone in a land that regularly crushed orphans like themselves. As such, they learned to only look out for themselves, taking what they needed to survive by any means necessary. For most of their childhood, this meant picking pockets and swiping anything they could get their fingers on. When the Empire took control of their planet (peacefully, having struck up an agreement with CL10’s corrupt, money-driven leaders), they learned to move more deftly and start conducting larger heists - stealing to thrive, not just survive the night.

Through trial and error they became a master of creating powerful explosives out of anything and everything flammable. These explosives became their M.O., earning them the title of The Arsonist in their community. While at first they only worked for their own benefit, Ilex saw the suffering of the people who had grown up in similar conditions as they had, enforced by CL10’s leaders and the drones of the Empire. It was then that they decided to act, using their abilities to sabotage those in power whenever they could, hoping to chase the bastards off their home.

When they were identified as The Arsonist, a wanted criminal, they were charged with many cases of theft, arson, and treason. They were remarkably unhelpful during their trial, refusing to give straight answers to any question asked, and eventually sentenced to life in a labor colony.
